Great Video. I have related questions. I'm new to my DJI RS3 Pro gimbal. What exacting are the Gimbal Switch Modes for, what does each mode mean and how are they to be used? After I do the Auto Adjust I get a set of Auto Tune Numbers for Tilt, Roll, and Pan. What do these numbers mean and how do I know how to use them? I could not find any of this information in the manual or videos. Please advise. Thank you.

Modes: pan fallow= the gimbal will pan with your movement but not tilt. In flow mode the gimbal will move in all directions you move. Lock mode locks the gimbal to the same spot no matter where you move. As for the numbers there are different sets. One set of numbers is for motor strength (to handle weight) another is for stiffness that’s how the gimbal reacts to movement. And then there’s the follow speed. That is how fast the gimbal will move when you move it

I have used a Thanos II arm with the Crane 3S, which worked reasonably well-though threading the gimbal on and off the arm was much more fiddly than I wanted and power leads from the v-mount below, were a mess. But now I have switched to the Ronin RS3 Pro, and added a SmallRig mount with the power pass-through, and the rig makes much more sense. Setup is much quicker, power leads are much shorter, and I can maneuver a BMPCC 6K Pro with a Sigma Cine 18-35 with minimal strain on arms, shoulders or back.

@@LeeZavitz Hi Lee. If you use the included riser mount plate, the 6k Pro fits side-to-side without any problem. I just got my second RS3 Pro from DJI after sending the first back after unpacking. The battery grip comes off if the locking lever is on open but without the safety button even touched. Once the grip is off it is clearly visible that the safety button moves a locking mechanism inside the gimbal but it does not hold the gimbal. Now I got a new one and it has the same issue and when I called DJI they told me: That the battery grip falls off without the safety button being pushed is normal. I would never trust this gimbal mounted somewhere or in underslung mode when by just accidentally touching the locking switch the whole things comes off. Anybody with the same issue?

I have the RS3 since it came out now, and there is a jerky movement that always got me upset... But I've just found out how to solve it. There is a hidden setting, only in the app, that nobody talks about, but that's a game-changer for me oO The issue: For example, if you do a tight Orbit movement, from a tilt down to a tilt up, depending on the speed you twist your wrist, the gimbal will ignore the speed set and quickly readjust to the new position. And the same kind of issue in FPV mode. That cost me a lot of very fluid and beautiful complex movements to become very jumpy and robotic oO Solution: In the app (only), go to the motors settings, then "Advanced" and then click on the "Strength" tab. This setting is pretty confusing and it reset each time you auto-calibrate, but not when you change modes. By default it sets it to Tilt: 17, Roll: 6 and Pan: 6 in my case. But by lowering it down, the gimbal is much smoother oO My settings at the moment are: Tilt: 10, Roll: 1 and Pan: 1, and even in 1, i find the roll still jumpy in fpv but much better. I'll keep playing around with it ;)

  • @globalshutter2858

Hi! And what is the following speed you use? The strength setting does not allow you to lower the level below 5, even if you do, re-open the application and make sure that the values have returned to level 5. It does help improve stabilization a bit, but it doesn't solve the problem completely. The bottom line is the inability to properly compensate for the jitter within the dead band.
