The fact that the King didn’t invite Harry to the trooping of the colour sends a strong message. The King is bound by the constraints of Constitutional Law, William wouldn’t be able to do anything more than Charles can.

The Royal Family in the UK are like a Ray of Spring Sunshine after a very dreary winter indeed . It's partly true, but a lot of these ceremonies aren't about that, they're just traditional. Like the ceremony of the keys at the Tower for example. It's happened every day since I belive the 1200s, apart from Oliver Cromwell's time. All through the Blitz and so on. Nothing to do with Empire or being Top Nation (we're well past that now), just an unnecessary, rather eccentric ceremony that is somehow part of our fabric. I didnt even know about it till an American friend dragged me along to see.
