From birth, and genetically my pelvis is both more open and tilted. I have mild hip dysplasia right more than left. Severely Anteverted Femurs with Tibial Torsion. My knees are as you mention. I am 44. I have never had surgery to correct anything. As an adult at age 21 when I got the bone twists diagnosed when I went to a doc... The doc said bilateral Intertrochanteric femoral osteotomies. 6 months in a half body cast and relearning to walk. Even with my husband's insurance that would have been $50,000 outta pocket. Not able to afford, and got scared. The doc predicted that I'd have arthritis in the knees at 30. I tried to get surgeries later at age 33. But no doc would do it. But no arthritis at that age either. I am now 44. My knees have hurt since I was 12yrs old. They are the coldest part of my body. They go numb, throb, stabbing pain, creak, wobble, or refuse to hold my weight. I went on a 2 mile walk on Friday. I have not been able to stand up with out the feeling of them buckling since. They are creaky, constant pain, cold even in this 80°+ heat, and occasionally have a sharp pain. I see my doc Thursday. How long can I last on knees with the opposing forces that my bones have given them all these years? I used to be active, as in walking a lot. I once walked 14 miles in one day (off and on all day) but the last 4yrs I have been in a mental slump. I got up to 200lbs, though now am 185. The 2 mile walk is now far according to my lungs and legs. I am scared, and am worried about the knees structural integrity after 44yrs of this.

It's pretty funny how my first google searches trying to find ways to help mitigate my knee valgus all lead to requiring surgery. I've already reduced my foot gap from 3" to 2" by just following various youtube videos to correct anterior pelvic tilt and opening up the hips for the last 6 months.

@@beginnerskitchen7618 Hey sorry for the late reply, I forgot to respond. I've learned a lot about my body over the last couple of years, and I think my knocked knees might be related to anterior pelvic tilt, rotating my femurs inward. I've been working on hip opening/mobility exercises as part of a more general exercise routine to help with it. I've also got an upcoming foot appointment that I hope might help as well.

I think this is what I've been dealing with for almost 30 years and I fixed it a couple of times not knowing exactly what I did that fixed it but it always comes back. I've felt my femor pop as the quad muscles and patella shift over the femor and I have instant relief like my knee is normal again but I have trouble maintaining that position. When I tell my ortho's and PT's , they don't believe me and have told me so. Left leg femoral internal rotation with external tibial tortion with pain on the top left of the patella.

Hey Connor, great info. I’m in the camp where my femur at the hip is extremely externally rotated and when I deadlift, both my femur and to a greater extent, my tibia externally rotate causing extreme torque. This is similar to your second example, however, I have extreme APT not PPT as you described in your example. Also, my internal rotation is pretty well non existent. Do you recommend I do the wall 90/90 and staggered stance dL even though I’m in APT?

Hi Conor - do you have an email or website maybe a place I can purchase videos? Do you have a video about chronic hip internal rotation and perhaps tight and shortened glues piriformis and TFL . You have a video about lack of internal hip rotation , however my left hip is stuck in internal rotation. I looked for a video about this but I can’t find a video about relieving too much internal rotation (both my femurs are IR and tibia ER) :/ can you respond with a link? I found a comment about my request you said you’d post a vid but Ali didn’t find it. Also really interested in your biomechanics course. As you can tell my mechanics are not great 😂

The first issue you addressed in this video is for sure what i've been dealing with for years. Always been having knee pain. Eventually got pictures taken and MRI and I already have starting decline on the medial side of both knees. 😢. PT made me do vmo strengthening to address the tracking of my patella. and other exercises but the knee pain doesn't go away. At this point I'm positive this doesn't help because of the stance of my femur and tibia apposed to one another. Would these exercises be enough to help me get rid of knee pain or am i done for? I am only 36 so the depression is real..
