    The thing I love about the room... is Tommy''s sure will. The fact that he came to Hollywood and somehow raised 6 million dollars... made the movie that flopped... but then kept pushing it year after year 100 grand after 100 grand... until it hit in it's own way. Few people can get a movie made. few people can raise 6 million. Few people can have a flop and somehow turn it into something like this.

    Tommy is the same way about Greg's book! When asked about it he always says "no comment" and that he doesnt want to talk about greg because hes his best friend. @@endangeredspecies8441 That's why he was so drawn to Tommy in the first place. Tommy looks and acts like he doesn't care what audiences think, even though everyone is constantly judging him, he takes his weirdness to the max and enjoys himself. Greg can only dream about that kind of confidence and/or lack of self-awareness. He's probably shy because he's afraid of judgement, so he feels better about himself when people judge Tommy instead, while he gets to look good. Greg has some issues though.

    I think the opposite. I think he was possibly too considerate, even a bit inauthentic. It seems like in every interview with Tommy everyone has to tip toe around the truth so they don't hurt his feelings. He wasn't making a dark comedy, he wasn't being ironic, he made a terrible yet somehow awesome movie completely by accident. Why do we have to pretend otherwise? Lol

  • @Allison_actually

    Because he's an eccentric dreamer whose feelings are easily hurt. If you read Greg's book "The Disaster Artist", there's quite a few examples of Tommy's instability recounted. Even to the point of him becoming suicidally depressed. He created something that makes a lot of people happy. Why not let him be happy with his beliefs about the movie? That way everyone wins.

    Sestero comes off as someone that's ashamed that he was in this film. I love how he has no problem exploiting his time working on the film to make a profitable book about it though. Sestero needs to face the facts that if it wasn't for The Room and Tommy Wiseau, he wouldn't have any recognition whatsoever. Sestero seems like a genuinely nice guy, but if it wasn't for Tommy, he wouldn't have even been a blip on the pop culture radar. Tomm'y performance, or lack there of, is what made The Room a cult sensation.

  • @nogedoge

    Genuinely, when you listen to other interviews Greg is in, he definitely understands what The Room did for his trajectory, for better or worse. I think Greg's vibe or attitude can be attributed to his relationship with Tommy, which seems simultaneously sympathetic and tumultuous. It's not a secret Tommy wasn't always nice, but clearly Greg still holds himself accountable for sticking around.

  • @oxykilldone5113

    @oxykilldone5113

    Trust me, I've seen tons of interviews with these guys and like I said Sestero seems genuinely nice, but often comes off as being a little condescending to Tommy. I know that he knows that The Room put him on the map, maybe he just comes off like that because he's bored of answering the same questions for over a decade and just doesn't take each interview seriously. I know Greg and Tommy are good friends, despite whatever disagreements or bad experiences they've had in the past. Hell, I've had full-blown fist fights with my friends before and honestly, it seems that we've actually gained a little more respect for each other because of it (as crazy as that sounds). I just think that Sestero should be a little less condescending and a little more respectful (in interviews) to the man that despite doing everything wrong, including his movie bombing horribly at first, persevered and ended up making one of the most recognizable movies in modern cinematic history, on top of slowly becoming a pop culture phenomenon. Not many people can say they've done that.

    Yeah Sestero's vibe is really weird in many interviews. It's like he appreciates the gift of being in The Room and the notoriety that it gave him, but also views his role as a curse because he'll always be associated with The Room. He often has a look on his face like "How did this happen to my life?" Lol.

    My two favorite screenwriters! These guys are a hell of a YA team, bruh! But I will say I think "The Disaster Artist" is their *worst* adaptation. Greg's memoir was far darker than the movie, and I wish they would've kept that. Greg's journey in his book was dark and full of actual terrors. It would've been great to see that.
