Yes, he and Richards wrote. Marianne Faithfull performed it first. She and Mick were a couple at the time. Swift seems too loud imo like she’s trying to upstage or outsing Mick. Some parts of this weren’t too bad especially when they were singing harmony, but I feel that she was not faithful (excuse the pun) to the original intent of this song. Again, in my opinion, it’s a sad bittersweet song, with a history, heartache, and great amount of pathos. I feel it should be sung that way. Not with attention drawn to Taylor Swift’s physicality traipsing all over the stage: “Look at Me!”

Just - wow - on every level. This is one of my favorite Stones songs. Taylor pays homage to the '60s and shows so much respect to the company she's keeping. It's also apparent how much Mick appreciates and respects Taylor's talent. The blending of past, present and future gives me chills. In my opinion, the greatest blessing bestowed on mankind are the music makers. Music brings nothing but love, joy and peace to us all.

Duets are tricky. I read all the comments below about Taylor … and what I take away is that this shows how damn good Mick is … he saw/heard the problem w TS and tried to blend his voice ever so skillfully and kindly to help TS. Good man .. and gifted singer .. he is a legend .. and has become an amazing part of all our lives along with his greatest rock 'n roll band of all time. I also think even Taylor was a tad nervous about singing with Jagger.

Great comment mate, however I must say that although the stones have played much longer than the Beatles, what the Beatles released during their time totally changed the perception of what can be done with music & still surpass the Stones up until they broke up & personally I prefer Lennon solo to the Stones as they have gone so gradually more & more commercial since 'It's only R&R' days. I still like Their Satanic Majesty's Request.

Now, as an old lady, she has the nerve to present herself as a valid recording artist...Her only fans are deluded "Boomer"-types, hanging on to a thread of the past. Jagger once said, many years ago..."If I am still prancing around the stage when I am past 40, somebody please shoot me!"...few in show business have the decency to quit when they are ahead....something to do with money, I suspect!

I grew up with the Stones and remember Marianne Faithfuls version of this song. There is only one singer today who could carry it off. Listen to Mariannes version and then just imagine Lana Del Rae singing it. Marianne was also criticised for her singing and Lana has the same kind of voice. Would love to hear her do a cover. I think it would be awesome. This song was totally sung in the wrong key for TS and even Mick struggles with it. He was right to give the song to Marianne when he did.
