man, the fact that you can make cyberpunk look like that really makes me rethink the ally

ROG Ally is incredible! And this is still PRE-PRODUCTION bios and drivers. Only gonna improve. Remember the buggy mess Steam Deck was at launch? Now its so much better. ASUS has got a beast on its hands here this thing rips. So glad i pre-ordered! Thanks Blunty for doing the lords work

i wanna see Asus push this portable to the absolute limits. Once devs see what this thing is capable off they will release portable versions of their games. They already doing it with the Steamdeck. The tech is there, it just need time and a shit ton of optimization. I preordered mine, its a gamble but ill take the risk

Can you please show us doom eternal with ray tracing on? I feel like it will perform alot better and will actually be playable at a decent resolution.

I'm feeling much better about my pre-order of this (it's $1499 where I live) with all these performance videos. I had intended to just run everything at 720p, but it's starting to look like I will be able to push the boundaries a bit further! Keen to see how Uncharted 4, Sonic Frontiers, and Gotham Knights run as these will likely be the first games I play when mine finally arrives!

Do you have a steamdeck and how does the screen size compare to the rog ally screen. I ordered the rog ally and im just a bit worried that the screen size will not feel as immersive as the steamdeck due to its screen size.

I'm excited too. But I will be more when some 3rd party comes with an extended battery case.

Just pre-ordered my Ally for Diablo 4 to play outdoor. Big hype! 😂I am amazed about the technical progress.

Nice! But Ray Tracing on the Ally is not really worth the performance hit. It's not a huge difference especially when you're not comparing side by side. But it's cool to know it can do it. What about Dead Space?

Not to be a contrarian but ray tracing doesn't look good enough for the visual tradeoff, even on a handheld. Interesting experiment I guess though.

AMD have already confirmed it as a feature. Though their terminology is Frame interpolation, IIRC.

@@BluntyTV I wonder if it will use motion vectors or kinda be the "lite" version kinda like how FSR is DLSS lite (not using dedicated hardware so not quite as good). Personally I've always been able to ignore interpolation errors as I use it on my TV all the time as 24fps gives me eye strain. Even as someone who sticks to NVIDIA on the desktop, its great to see these options. It really makes you wonder what we will eventually get in a Steam Deck revision given they said they wanted to wait for a bigger upgrade in APUs before revising it, this is bigger than I was expecting. Given every handheld has given me major hand cramps though and Steam Deck is the closest to being comfortable for me, I don't want to go any smaller.

If you install Windows on Steam Deck, you can run RT too. I've been playing Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition @ a solid 30FPS, low settings and resolution scaling/reconstruction, high RT. So, this is nothing special, BUT the Ally has more RRRRRRAW POWAAAAAH!!! So yes, RT can be better on the Ally. Oh yeah.... When you do RT on a handheld, bring a large powerbank with you! ;)

I didn’t know this till recently but Metro Exodus Enhanced’s Ray tracing isint a great benchmark for something like that. Apparently it’s not true RT that actually requires RDNA to make work. It’s the same thing they had in Gears of War 5 where it’s baked into the games hardware itself. Having it on makes a very small difference (only 10 fps or so). Where as turning on RT in any other game with produce almost a 50% drop in framerate. Not knocking the Ally, I freaking love mine. It’s just Metro isint a good benchmark for trying to see how “good” RT is on it because it’s not traditional RT as we know it

Hey blunty. Watching all your rog ally content. Can you test steam link on the ally. I'm guessing it will be good but my plan is to dock the ally next to my switch on my 4k TV and use it like a switch that should have been.

1080p low settings FSR at 40-60fps on a 7 inch screen is more than ok.

RDNA3 raw performance isn't a massive jump over RDNA2, but its Raytracing Performance has been boosted significantly.

Damn... I'm almost considering getting one, but I have an Asus Rog G14 laptop. If the screen of the Ally is anything like the G14, it will be beautiful.

Thanks for all your content about this rog ally. Can you test if this console will work on turbo 30w when plugged to a 65w power delivery powerbank ?

I do not own such a powerbank. But the Ally has exactly zero ways of knowing if the power it's getting over USB is coming from a transformer plugged into a wall, or a battery. So long as it's getting the Voltage/Current it needs, it'll operate the exact same way.

the GBA sports a 240x160 screen, so it's remarkably close.

Should try doom with ray tracing...that engine is so optimized it may run extremely smooth

Can we overclock the ram on the ASUS ally?

If the rog ally can do ultra low res rt cyberpunk, then its possible we'll be able to pull off starfield.

Oh it will 100% run starfield. The only standing questions are "how well & at what settings/fps". I have a video from a couple days ago all about Fallout 4, which runs on the creation engine (Starfield runs on it too, albeit a vaugely "modified" version) kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYF328h-krCcZ7g.html

Frame interpolation is coming in the next version of FSR... and you won't need special hardware just to use it, unlike Nvidia's 'solution'

AMD sponsored titles with RT often just have lower quality RT in general

That's simply not true. AMD or Nvidia 'sponsored'; pretty much all games out there with RT are using DX12U or similar third party API's to enable the feature. It's the EXACT SAME "quality" because it's literally the same API producing it.
