Simply unplayable. I come back to these frames whenever snooker is on hiatus. I've been (as any fan would be) a Ronnie fan for years. But this still absolutely blows my mind. Against the slow, methodical and controlling game of Selby, anyone can falter. But to come out and play like that is universally brilliant. He's the best.

It was an unforgettable day of snooker and I think that was the most exciting finish to a match in years. Selby's escape and resnooker on the final red was probably the best pressure escape ever played. Ronnie's match ball, the best pressure pot to win a match. An unbelievable clash of two snooker titans! Looking forward to this year's world championships...

Selby has always been one of the weakest players on the circuit when it comes to the mental side of the game, he's surprisingly fragile considering what he's achieved. Hendry has pointed it out several times that he practically needs family members in the wings, often looks up at them after shots too much as well almost like a comfort blanket. Heck, even with no audience during the pandemic he's got his wife into the arena for emotional support. That's weakness right there on display.

I don't think Ronnie has anything left to prove. He destroyed selby in this match and dispatched Higgins and Trump with relative ease to lift the 7th. On his day he is unplayable. It would have been great if Paul Hunter was still alive he was a fantastic player with real grit. I would have loved to have seen him and ronnie compete. Apart from Selby I don't think Ronnie has any true competitor that can go toe to toe with him over the long term. Higgins can't get over the line. Trump has peaked already I think

And credit to Stephen Hendry for a brilliant session of tactical analysis.
