The road north to Adventure Van Expo in Hood River starts in Northern California, where we set out to reach our first waypoint, a Harvest Host called Willamette Valley Smokehouse, in Salem, Oregon. This convenient spot is an awesome BBQ joint with many cool features like a coffee shop, bar, and (soon to be) yurts. The food was fantastic, the beers flowed, and the place was packed with plenty of smiles and friendly folks.
Next, we head to Lost Lake Campground on the northwest side of Mt. Hood and meet a couple of friends who flew in from Florida to catch the Adventure Van Expo and explore all the goods Oregon Vanlife has to offer.
After an afternoon of catching salamanders and a fresh dunk in Lost Lake, we make our way down the hill to Hood River, OR, to check in to the show and get set up for the weekend.
