I recommend keeping a daily journal ...where you set goals, where you are in your journey since you started, 30, 60, 90 days ago. Write down everything yu need to do each day and tomorrow, each week, each month before trials, where you want to be at trials and what yu need to do for getting there. don't just say "I'll remember that". A journal helps to keep focused and accountable.

this morning during practice, my team and I were swimming, and our pool has no windows, just a massive cinder block room, and all the sudden my vision in the water flickered to black. i came up and heard a bunch of screaming, and we were all in total darkness. it turned out the entire school had a power outage and we got to leave practice early, changing in the dark locker room was difficult though 😂

Hi Cody! Do you have any tips for having a lot of back to back races. How do you manage the lactic acid and soreness, when you have a tough racing schedule and no warm down pool, and no taper. In two weeks I’m swimming all 400’s, 200s, 100s, 50s in 3 days.

Hi. My name is Carlos and I´m an amateur swimmer from Spain, and I have a question for you. As you are a profesional swimmer and you have been almost your whole life on this sport I wanted to ask you a personal question from your simming routine. I´m just having some issues with my hair lately when I end my swimming, and although my swimming cap gives me some protection from the clorum, my hair doesn´t feel so nice as it used to. So I wanted to hear some advice from you since you have such a nice and long hair, and you are not bald! Just wanted to hear about any shampoo you use or just any advice for a healthy hair. Will be trhilled to hear your feedback I´ll be waiting for that. Cheers

@@sharonlloyd3416 because of several reasons: -im 16 and i started swimming at 4 (amd competitively at 10) and i feel like since then my whole life was all about swim and study..and idk if after school i will still have time to learn new stuff so i would like to spend my time doing other things for once. (i would like to start calisthenics, learn the piano and probably have more time to read and draw) -ik that it’s normal to not feel motivated to swim sometimes but rn im feeling it a lot. I mean i get bored in practice and just dont feel ready to do anything to improve my times like i used to..also im not doing good in practice and havent improved my times since april, i just dont feel like i have the right mindset to compete anymore and yea i think these are the two main reasons, i hope you didnt get bored reading this🥴

I have gone through a similar thing. Two summers ago I got really good, then following that i did not best time until our champs season 10 months later. My drops weren’t as much as I’d expect and I was really bummed. It got me into a big spire because I trained so much and so long and did not get even close to the goals I had. Anyways, you’re young enough that some time off isn’t going to hurt you that bad in the long run. Taking a few months off or even more and finding something else that motivates you is a method of recovery that is so undervalued. As long as whatever you choose to do with your life outside of the pool involves you still staying fit, there will always be the option to return to swim. Instead of a full halt on swim, you could try to be in the pool less. Instead of 6 days a week maybe 3-4, or less. You still get to keep yourself in the game, but the daily pressure isn’t there. Then once you think your ready to take on the big practicing again you are right there and able to pick it back up.

2nd) On the basis of not improving, I am 16 now, when I went through my phase of not being able to best time was mid 15 to early 16 years old. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is so hard to believe it while your inside of the tunnel but once that first pb comes in the rest just fly. If continuing to go full head on swim is what you believe you should do, just know there will be a reward at the end. It might take a lot longer than you think, but it will happen.
