The Rising of the North: Every Day
In 1569, some Catholic earls sympathetic to Mary Queen of Scots attempted a rebellion in Northern England with the hopes to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I.

Leonard Dacre pvps alone the Queen's forces
Always found this particular rebellion incredibly interesting, it being the last time the North of England rebelled (if you can call these events so grand a word). If I recall correctly the rebels seized Hartlepool in the hopes of Spanish aid, which had been promised by Phillip II’s ambassador without any authorisation to do so. Sad really.

I think it depends on if you will only count it if only the North rebelled, because obviously the English Civil war happened and their was a lot if rebelling and fighting in the north.
Good times all round, only 1569 Catholic kids remember
Cool to see such a relatively niche regional conflict animated, fingers crossed for the Lincolnshire Rising and Pilgrimage of Grace next
I thought this was the raising of the north for a second, would be another cool idea for a video. William the conqueror is known more for his invasion in 1066 and not really for how he ruled with an iron first for the next couple decades.

Oh! You should do Edgar Aetheling's brief rule in Northumbria and the Harrying of the North c. 1069-1070. Either way, love to see my dear North given some love.
Nice video 👍
Norf mentioned! On a serious note it'd be cool if you covered the harrying of the north, idk how but it's an often forgotten severe episode in english history

Am I the only one, whose first thought upon looking at the thumbnail, was "huh, rebellion in South Korea"? I mean, coastlines and borders of Britain are really similar to that of Korean peninsula. Never noticed until now.
legit never heard of this before. This period of English history is just so chaotic.
Cool idea for a video: The short lived English republic
Why haven't I heard of this? Plenty more events in the north on the medieval era though that I don't know much about.
Even if the catholic earls were able to free Mary Stuart then how did they plan to crush the Royal Army in the military campaign and in the pitched battles? I am sure that Elizabeth I didn´t consider giving up the crown under those circumstances.

What happened to the rebels that fled to Scotland? Were they refugees who ended up settling down in Scotland? Or did they make their way back to England after a time?

Can you do the Marian civil war next and the war took place before during and after the rising of the north and the rising of the north was actually a part of the war and it was a civil war between the supporters of Mary Queen of Scots and The Supporters of her infant son king James VI of Scotland and among the supporters of the king were his half uncle James Stewart 1st Earl of Moray, his paternal grandfather the 4th Earl of Lennox, John Erskine Earl of Mar and James Douglas 4th Earl of Morton and they were supported by England among the supporters for the queen was James Hamilton 1st Duke of Chatellerault 2nd Earl of arran, George Gordon 5th Earl of Huntley, John Fleming 5th lord Fleming, Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange and Adam Gordon of Auchindoun younger brother of George Gordon 5th earl of Huntley and the war would begin in the month of May in the year 1568 and it would end on the 28th of May of the year 1573 with the surrender of Edinburgh Castle.

Demonstrated strong Catholic rebellion against Eizabeth, even from the nobility, which would become a recurring issue throughout Elizabeth’s reign and would become a primary factor in the execution Mary, Queen of Scots 17 years later. Not that significant in of itself but demonstrated the divisions in England in this time.

@@matthewbarabas3052 If it was James I you're talking about he stuck to Protestantism because he was raised by the protestant Scottish nobility, who were the reason the catholic Mary, Queen of Scots was exiled (and subsequently fled to England) in the first place. And Elizabeth knew to not choose a Catholic heir since she'd seen first hand the instability that changing the state religion had caused already after her sister Mary. And so the protestant James would become king.

The North remembers.
