    Not sure if I'm going to be able to do this all the time but I thought I would put some of the notable people of the era's biographies in some of these videos in case anyone is interested in some of the people we will be encountering. The best way to start would be with the Tiger of Kai himself Shingen Takeda. Born in December of 1521 his childhood name was Harunobu Takeda. Besides being skilled in poetry the young Harunobu helped his father in all affairs including in battle where he helped his father win the battle of Un no kuchi when he was 15. It was also during this time that the young Harunobu rebelled against his father and gained control of the Takeda in 1540 at the age of 19 with the help of the Imagawa and forced his father into exile. After gaining control of the clan, he quickly moved to secure the surrounding area around Kai by moving into Shinano province. It took a number of years but he eventually managed to conquer it by 1554. After conquering Shinano this brought him into contact with his most famous rival Kenshin Uesugi the Dragon of Echigo. The Takeda and Uesugi fought a number of battles against each other with the 5 battles of Kawanakajima being the most famous. It was during the fourth battle of Kawanakajima that the young tiger recorded one of his most famous feats. The Uesugi had managed to drive all the way to the Takeda main camp. The Takeda leader managed to fend off Kenshin's sword strikes by parrying them with a fan that he had on his person. I was in 1559 during this time that Harunobu became a buddhist monk (while still being the daimyo) and was given the name Shingen. It was also during this time that Shingen had two assassination attempts against him including one by his own son Yoshinobu Takeda. After Yoshimoto Imagawa's death at the battle of Okehazama, Shingen allied with the Oda and Tokugawa to spilt up the former Imagawa lands. This was followed later in 1563 with the Takeda allying with the Hojo after all the Imagawa lands were occupied. The alliance didn't last however and by 1568 The Takeda moved against the Hojo to try and occupy their territory. They managed to push all the way to Odawara castle where they failed to take the castle but burned the surrounding town and defeated a Hojo force after the siege ended. However, during this time because the alliance with the Hojo collapsed Shingen found himself surrounded by the Oda, Tokugawa, Hojo, and Uesugi. It was only due to the intervention of Nobunaga Oda that Shingen wasn't pounced upon. It was in 1572 that Shingen would begin his final campaigns. After taking territory from Nobunaga that soured the relationship of the two warlords. Shingen followed this by also taking territory from the Tokugawa who was an ally and vassal of the Oda. In 1573 Shingen received a message from the Shogun to try and march on Kyoto to help him. Shingen obliged and marched where he defeated a combined Oda-Tokugawa force at the battle of Mikagatahara. He followed this up by laying siege to Noda Castle. Shingen died in the siege camp in May of 1573 of unknown causes. After Shingen's death the Takeda retreated and Shingen's son Katsuyori became head of the clan. The Takeda would not remain a major power with Katsuyori being defeated decisively at the Battle of Nagashino in 1582 by Nobunaga Oda.

    Good resume but some mistakes: - It's in 1541 that he exiled his father who preferred his first younger brother Takeda Nobushige. Did it with the help of the most ancient retainers He never conquered all of Shinano because at least some castle were under Nagao/Uesugi control. And it's because of Murakami Yoshikiyo who after winning against Harunobu lost to Sanada Yukitaka et fled to Nagao Kagetora. - Only the 4th battle of Kawanakajima is important, others are skirmishes. At this time in 1561, Takeda Shingen was no mpre "young" with 40 yeqrs old. Yamamoto Kansuke (Takeda's strategist) create a trap to kill Uesugi Terutora (Not yet Kenshin). The Uesugi camp was in a moutain. A force of 8,000 men lead by Baba and Kosaka should force Uesugi army to descend to the river where 12,000 of Takeda Shingen men were waiting. But Terutora knew that and in the morning while the Baba and Kosaka forces were missing, the Uesugi attcked. Takeda Shingen lost his strategist and one of his brother Takeda Nobushige but managed to inflict heavy casualities to Uesugi with reinforcement. Was a phyrric victory. - The assassination attempt by his son and heir is a supposition. Maybe due to opinion divergence and Imagawa's influence. But only happen in 1564 and executed in 1565. Yoshinobu was helped by Obu Toramsa, leader of the red cavalry - Takeda Shingen didn't allied with Odaand Tokugawa for Imagawa lands, just Tokugawa but years later before invading it. The marriage with Oda was more a move by Oda Nobunaga to be sure to not have the Takeda against him while he was trying to conquer Mino. The alliance between Takeda-Hojo-Imagawa (Ko-Sou-Houn alliance) last from 1554 to 1568. Takeda Shingen invade Suruga because of Imagawa Ujizane weakness and such Hojo Ujiyasu decided to help the Imagawa. the Takeda defeat the Hojo and siege Odawara just to show the strengh. Oda was not against Shingen, he just finished conauering Mino and was aiming to help the Shogun going to Kyoto. But yeah, he was surrounded. The Imagawa even made a trade block of the salt but Uesugi Terutora decided to not participated because the poeple of the Takeda will suffer. In 1569-1570, Takeda-Tokugawa conquered all Imagawa's land but a disaccord emerge. Seems Tokugawa Ieyasu didn't respect the territories split but Takeda Shingen didn't Invade. - In 1572, the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki was too dependent to Oda Nobunaga's power and Oda used the Shogun name for his own goal. Thus, the Shogun called for Daimyo to go against Oda. Asakura, Azai (old ally to Asakura so go with them even if their Daimyo was married to Oda Nobunaga's sister), Honganji (buddhist) and others little one. Uesugi was too busy conauering Etchu. Takeda used this opportunity to go to Kyoto by going south. Plus the Takeda had accpeted a powerful buddhist leader who lost to Oda and thus consider himself as a protector of it. Oda Nobunaga's decide to go as a Deamon. Takeda Shingen invaded with the biggest army the Tokugawa's territories (Tokugawa was never a vassal). He conquered a lot of castles and trap Tokugawa Ieyasu by ignoring him while he was in his castle at Hamamatsu. Angered by it, Tokugawa Ieyasu left the castle but wa waited at Mikatagahara. He was nearly killed but saved by one of his vassal who take his armor to looked like him. Tokugawa Ieyasu always remembered this lesson (he asked a picture of himselfi n a strange position. Seems because he shat himself of fear). Takeda Shingen seems to have died of illness in 1573. - In 1575, Takeda Katsuyori invaded Tokugawa's land to prove himsefl as capable as his father. Even if he was indeed a good commander, Oda Nobunaga was better. And the use of lot amount of guns and barricade stopped and killed a lot's of Takeda best generals. It's only in 1582 that Oda Nobunaga decide to end the Takeda who were doing skirmishes against him and Tokugawa. Oda Nobunaga send his heir Nobutada to end the Takeda. Went smoothly thanks to treasons. The main Takeda branch end with Katsuyori and his son seppuku.

  • @Swordslicer
    @Swordslicer5 ай бұрын

    Just a reminder that when the garrison/castle is small you can just use archers to kill them off. Their moral goes way down if you run out of ammo have yari finish them. While this will eat some of your time, you can edit it out later by doing this you avoid paying castle repairs from auto resolve. Up to you if this is worth doing or not. When in early game every zen counts, later game with better economy you may not care then. Also for harder castle getting fire arrows is a must to burn those towers down so as not to loose too many troops from them and castle gates. I spent hours killing off a large fleet with 3 ships just fire arrowing them while kiting them. I love shogun 2, just wish they fixed syncing issue for mutliplayer. As your question with the Ikko Ikki they can be strong if you leave them alone. I take them out as soon as I can, between them expanding fast you also have to deal with religion conversion which you can't afford right away, they start with a forge to boot.

  • @jackcoleman1784

    @jackcoleman1784

    5 ай бұрын

    Yeah the Ikko are warlike as hell and what's worse is they're treacherous and have their own religion. So if you try to ally with them or use diplomacy to par them off they'll betray you and it usually isn't too long until they do it. Which wastes whatever you used to deal with them. This tracks though because historically the Ikko was a religious movement that was also a peasant rebellion fundamentally opposed to the ruling class. So the Ikko hated the daimyo and samurai and it was tied to their religious beliefs. So naturally they wouldn't work with any daimyo or if they did it wouldn't last long.

    Light cavalry, as I recall, is great for taking out enemy general units. They have worse stats than bodyguard units, but they have better charge bonuses. Takeda, being the "cavalry faction", have better all-around stats, and the stables at Kai give extra bonuses to charge. All in all, a really good strategy for most of the game is a flanking force of light cavalry to hammer a general, take them out, and get the morale shock going on enemy armies.

    On Realm Divide, there is a progress bar that gives you some insight as to how close you are, and as I remember it, it’s connected to the number of provinces you have. Watch this carefully and DO NOT go over the limit or get the full bar. Playing as Takeda, you should go north to subdue everything behind you in relationship to the capital. You do not want to be fighting a two-front war. RD, to me, is the BEST end game mechanic of all TW games. I feel that way because it’s the only one that I think can actually beat you in the game, and to me that’s a good thing. So you want to be fully ready, if at all possible, for RD-your armies ready, happiness in your lands, and if possible, any allies as “pro-you” as possible. Most of the time, they will still abandon you, but if you have your relationship as high as possible, then they might stay with you.

    Woo, this is gonna be great! Shogun 2 + FotS is still my favourite Total War. Actually playing a FotS republic campaign right now. The campaign map AI for very hard in vanilla Shogun 2 is absolutely relentless in a way no other Total War campaign AI is in my experience, so you have to be ruthlessly aggressive once you end up in a war against someone. If you don't, they will overwhelm you with stacks from every possible angle. They're really good at launching annoying naval landings behind your lines as you expand as well, so even if you aren't playing a lot of the naval battles you will need a beefy fleet or two on each coast later on to just try and lock them down before the armies can land.

    so, much as I love the Takeda, I have 2 random facts to do with their successors.....but not in the traditional sense. the Takeda red armor was feared and famous around Japan, to the point that even the Shimazu knew of it. One of the Takeda Generals used it as psychological warfare to scare the enemy. However, upon their defeat at Nagashino, the scheme was adopted by Naomasa Ii, and his unit wore the colors with pride. the man himself had his finest hour at Sekigahara......but after the battle, caught a musket shot and was forced off the battlefield. but on the Takeda side, we have probably the best example of a successor in the Sanada Clan. Masayuki Sanada was a man who saw a lot of potential and tried to play the game as best he could. his children, Nobuyuki and Nobushige, were divided between the Eastern and Western, the Tokugawa and the Toyotomi. Masayuki and his forces famously stopped Ieyasu's child and 38 thousand men from joining the battle of Sekigahara with only 2000. which earned a reprisal ninja attack killing him. Nobushige, more commonly known as Yukimura, would go on to fame as the embodiment of what it meant to be a Samurai, charging into the Tokugawa camp at the final battle of the era to his death. Nobuyuki would go on to become the first of the Matsushiro clan having a lot of Ieyasu's respect...

    Shingen is perhaps most famous for his use of the cavalry charge at the Battle of Mikatagahara. The strength of Shingen's new tactic became so famous that the Takeda army came to be known as the Kiba Gundan (騎馬軍団), or 'mounted army'. Up until the mid-16th century and Shingen's rise to power, mounted samurai were primarily archers. There was already a trend at this time towards larger infantry-based armies, including a large number of foot archers. In order to defeat these missile troops, Shingen transformed his samurai from archers to lancers.

    I remember being told that S2 attack on cities was so horrendous, that the only workable strategy was to siege them until the garrison came out to attack you in the field. You may not want to be that patient, and I know you detest any sort of exploit; I didn’t think it an exploit, but just a way to better balance out the concept of taking another settlement. If the auto-resolve was in my favor, then I would take it. The risk was actually worse in trying to take a settlement than in the auto-resolve.

    another note in shogun far over every other total war, battles are fast and rarely last more than a few minutes of actual fighting, and moral is THE most important stat, breaking moral is the death sentence of battles. so breaking the enemy faster than your melee troops can break will always win you a battle then you can do the damage during the hunting down of routing enemies.

  • @kythewolf2969

    Also with shogun 2, most basic infantry is spear men so you really have to be careful with cav, you need to be hitting spear men in the flanks after they are pinned by infantry, and never when the spear men arent already in melee. and yes mountains do matter a lot in shogun 2. thirdly hitting then pulling back and charging again is very important for cav and doing damage and breaking the enemy moral.

    I see this is a few weeks old at this point but if it's still relevant, I have one big piece of advice - archer units in Shogun 2 are insanely strong, because there aren't any units with shields. It can feel a bit cheesy to just wipe with archers but it really does give you a huge advantage in every battle if you have a big missile superiority

    Were you every able to finish an MP Co-op campaign? The furthest I ever got was turn 82 and then I got the bug with the AI declaring war that first appeared in Empire. Usually I would get it before then.

    Lionheart with a cavalry focused faction... I'm a bit worried. We all know how Lionheart is with cav. Though he did do pretty well with the Huns. That first battle was very well done!

    You should try playing a campaign with the morning sun mod. First unify the islands then start the imjin war and take down Korea. I even think they added China now to .

    It's good that you're not doing the tax exploit because it gives a -25 to town prosperity growth due to inconsistent policies I believe that's what it's called. I also admit I've never completed a Takeda campaign due to the fact that I feel it takes longer to get going as you need the Calvary Sword Yari and Bow recruitment buildings to start really churning out your best units. To answer your question Lionheart you don't want your Clan Leaders Honor to go below three or you start suffering public order and diplomatic realation penalties because you are seen as a Dishonorable Leader.

I've been looking for an answer for months and there's no solution. that they offer both on steam and on the internet do not work, any advice that could be thanks
