Love this content man! I RPd on Los Santos Role play (LSRP) (English server) from around 2007 until the time it closed just a couple of years and that was my life for a while that and Valhalla RP. It's sad to see servers like that go but it is interesting how there are so many Russian/Bulgarian servers still around!

Why were there so many russians that wanted to play RP compared to the English community? 10 servers filled with 1000 players is crazy

Thank you for your comment! That's a great question. I don't think anyone knows for sure. It just kinda happened :D I can speculate that it has something to do with accessibility to young russian people who wanted to hang out with their friends outside of school, in a game. SA:MP client was perfect for that - easy to install and play, the game could be run on almost any PC. At first nobody cared about RP - it just happened to be the mod servers were using. The idea of roleplaying and having a career as if it was real life came later. And it kept growing by word of mouth plus all kinds of KZreadrs - big and new - were making videos about it at some point. I have started playing because of a KZreadr. But why is there barely any English presence in San Andreas RP - who knows. Seems to me that GTA 5 RP kinda blew up everywhere somewhat similarly to how SA:MP RP blew up in Russian community back in the day. I could always be wrong - it's just how I see it :D Also if you think 10 servers of 1000 players is crazy - 25 servers of 1000 players is a reality of Arizona RP right now lol

I'm Bulgarian and even though our languages are kind of similar i couldnt really understand everything in order to play on russian servers... and you know how hard it is to find a good english speaking server with enough players xd. I have a similar story, but I started playing SAMP around 2018, on the server "Welcome to Los Santos 2". But my gametime spiked during the covid. I made quite a lot of friends during this. But unfortunately after covid ended everyone became busy, I started with my college so everything came to a standstill for me like you.

Would love to see a video made by a Russian about Criminal Russia's story, various local references and inside jokes, and similar projects too! I've read a few GTAF posts with machine translation, and i remember seeing the various videos of the development uploaded by one of the 3D modellers of CR back in the day, but its not the same. At the moment there is a project for CR:MP (Criminal Russian Multiplayer) it is called “Black Russia”, it can only be played on phones and the total number of players reaches 87,100, ON ONE PROJECT, 68 servers with 1300 slots for players, and a huge queue at the busiest time

SAMP were still popular here in Indonesia ! We have lots of RP servers like Lunar Pride RP, Arivena Roleplay, and Jogjagamers RP (which was the most played server here in Indonesia) and many more. The community was still as good as the old days, and also the forums like Jogjagamers Forum that still gain popularity among the Indonesian gamers.

Miss LS-RP that was a english sever that had 1000 player base almost always full in early days when there was like 500 slots and had to wait to get in if you got kicked had to wait again, people grew up server and samp pretty much died .. and now they have LSRP on five m , damnn. I personnally still play SAMP today, even brought friends along. I started SAMP about 5-6 years ago on English servers ('cause French are dead since a very long time ago) and today still, I'm having a blast. On MTA SA, I started about 1 year ago only playing in Need For Speed San ANdreas Server that's where I felt a good game waiting to be recognized

this is really interesting. I also play rp, you may have heard of it. WTLS. I have been playing on it since 2018 but I am not so active nowadays. It has all the features you mentioned in your videos. Crazy how the original russian rp servers had such impact that after all these years the features are implemented, although the server itself is a decade old. I was the same. Going on the rp server to play, have fun. Have an internet persona and goof around with friends. But that time has gone by and now I live my life and my old friends live theirs. It was fun, it was enjoyable and I won't forget it ever.

I remember wishing i could understand russian just to play on one of these servers. There were other servers in languages i can speak but they were mostly not as popular or worse quality than the originals, i tried learning russian for a couple of months and gave up

I wish I played SAMP back in the day! I didn't know what I missed. Maybe it's not too late to experience it now. San Andreas was a big part of my childhood. I played hundreds and hundreds of hours of it. I found out about SAMP once, but it all seemed too cumbersome, that chat-action-thing seemed annoying.

It's not too late I think! Now some servers also use proximity voice chat so maybe it'll be even easier and you won't have to type everything! I can see why it can be annoying, after all - this is one of the reasons I quit SAMP.

Привет, незнаю как , но сразу понял, что ты русский автор. А когда ты еще рассказал про пиратские диски от фаргуса , все сразу подтвердилось. Хочу сказать что ты сделал очень классное видео про историю сама на просторах СНГ. Сейчас самп претерпел очень сильные изменения благодаря аризоне, и многие иностранцы просто даже представить себе не могут как самп вырос в снг. Я так скажу, что русские сервер самые лучшие.

I hate myself for not playing samp in 2006 instead of learning to walk. Nowdays the feel of the game has pretty much shifted from being a "gta with friends" to something else, the rp servers (at least in Brazil) is one more mundane than the other. You farm farm and thats it.

Sadly english sa-mp RP is slowly dying off. I really miss those days when SA-RP , LS-RP , WC-RP, california gaming roleplay, streetz of los santos etc were still big servers and sa-mp had around a 100k players online around 2011-2015 really the best servers were around this time. I think when gta 5 rp was released gta sa-mp been slowly dying off sad to see i grew up on this game and learned most of my english on this game talking to other players and i met tons of people and have hundreds of playing hours on many servers. Probably my most favourite game all time. Weirdest thing that happend is i met someone in real life who i was at that time playing with in the same server without knowing , turned out it was my classmate in high school playing the same server haha. We found out when we started talking about sa-mp and we found out we were playing the same server and in the same gang too this was so weird we were friends ingame. We been in the same gang the whole time on an internet game but we did not know at all , but we were in the same class lol. 0000.01% that would ever happen this is what makes it so strange

Wow, that's a crazy story! Glad you've found each other both IRL and in-game :D And yeah, I guess GTA 5 replaced GTA SA for a lot of people in multiplayer too. Times come and go, I guess. As far as Russian servers are concerned, I'm not sure they're dying off really, just some old projects. But I can see it happening in English segment of SAMP. Thank you for your comment!

@@AlexFreezeman I think Russian RP will stay the longest , it always had tons of Russian servers for years now with servers over 1000 players , English never really reached that. I hope that UIF server and NG-RP stay for a long time even though i don't like NG-RP and i don't really play SA-MP anymore , it would be sad to see these servers also dying because they been around for more than 10+ years and LS-RP is already dead so there's not much left anymore for English players its sad to see and i would like to keep my account on UIF from 2011 i still have it.

Hey, I recently stumbled upon 2 russian videos from a server called radmir and the second one called next rp. What are exactly those servers? Their own platforms? To me it seems like they are not mta/samp but their own games with a bunch of resources taken from gta sa. I watched a little bit of the gameplay and it looks very p2w and just weird...

Hi! From what I can tell, these servers are based on or inspired by a mod I mentioned in this video - Criminal Russia. It was a singleplayer mod at first, but it was later made into multiplayer. I plan on making a video on both of them some time hopefully next year!

We paid for CDs that were pirated by others. It was an alternative if you didn't have fast internet. Anyone could download games for themselves and not pay for disks if their internet speed was good

Nooo, it's a mod that has most of SAMP servers running on as a base. I thought I explained it in the video. Basically, you've most likely played on Godfather mod if you've played on any RP server. It has nothing to do with actual Godfather, be it the movie, the game, etc. So there is no such thing that you're looking for. It's just a title for a basis for the older SAMP RP servers.

I get you, but as unfair as it may seem, sometimes people want to play on their native language. Not 100% of the population knows English that well, so they play with what they can understand. I think if you search hard enough, there are more English speaking servers to play on, if not here then on MTA at the very least Samp might be considered dead, but as long as there are any servers online and people play there, the game isn't dead, but that's just my opinion. You'll need GTA SA, samp client and you need to know the IP. There are websites where you can find them. Enter the IP and connect. It's pretty straightforward. Also there are probably guides on that on YT. Russian servers are joined on like any others.
