The Rise of Oregon Football

Спорт

There are only a few Universities around the nation that you can look at and say that they’ve had a more successful decade than the Oregon Ducks. Since 2009, the team has 7 seasons with at least 10 victories, and won 4 BCS/ New Year’s Six Bowls. They even had a Heisman winner in Quarterback Marcus Mariota, and the only thing that is missing from this decade of success is a National Championship title. But Oregon Football accomplished things that were unseen before in just the past decade, and after seeming like they would fall off the map after 2016, they are right back at the top of not only the PAC 12, but even a contender & a consistent name in the Top 10. But how did Oregon Football get to this point, and how did they rebuild and re-tool for the future? In today’s video, we’ll be looking at the Rise of Oregon Football.

Oregon Football has been on the rise for a long time and has achieved so much in the past decade. How long do you think it will be until they win their first ever National Championship??

I’m a gator fan and I fell in love with Oregon in 2007 with Dennis Dixon and I still believe Oregon would’ve won it all If Dixon didn’t have a season ending injury. They were 8-1 ranked 2 then boom he’s out they finish 9-4. He also would’ve beat Tebow for the Heisman that’s how good Oregon’s offense was.

Completely agree. Such a shame that happened. Same thing with that Eastern Washington xfer, Jeremiah Masoli I believe or Vernon Adams? Always forget. That season was on fire until he got hurt. Came back in the bowl game and we were up 35-3(?) at half. He got hurt and we ended up losing the game. We relied waaaay too much on him and it showed when he got hurt.

Yes, the oddest thing. Chip rocked it at Oregon and has fallen flat ever since. Puzzling. I think he has great game strategies, but he's missing the ability to run a healthy organization from top to bottom. Nick Saban at Alabama has been known for having a complete and well run organization in all facets of the business. Chip can't do that, I believe.

The rise started in 94 with The Pick. It continued after the Cotton Bowl loss when Phil Knight asked Belotti what he needed to get the Ducks to the next level. That was the beginning of the overhaul of the facilities over years of contributions where Oregon eventually became known for some of the best facilities in the world. That helped get better talent. Some losses also helped Oregon rise including a loss to Urban Meyer when he was coach at Utah. That loss inspired Belotti to look at spread option offenses. Which would eventually lead to hiring Chip Kelly from little ol New Hampshire.

At the point you did that we hadn't played the 2019 season. There was reason to believe good things were coming, but no solid proof. Even our bowl game after 2018 was a low scoring slug fest. I have to say, as an Oregon fan, I've never been as optimistic as I feel right now. The biggest thing is, the coaching staff and players here now seem different. The way the coaches integrated into the community is awesome, and theybgot the players involved too. The vibe I get from them is they wont be satisfied if they leave here without bringing at least National Championship here. Hopefully that is on its way. As for the players, they've really bought in to rebuilding the culture and creating something special here similar to what happened with Clemson.

They need a great defensive coordinator to get the National title. Scoring hasn’t been the issue for years. And yes they have been great on defense compared to the nation but not necessarily compared to the top five teams. I love watching the Ducks play.....they always show up to play.

As an Oregon fan it would mean so much to wina championship but with that said I'll take coach Cristobal and no championships and be Happy. He has a great chance to win one in Oregon but it doesnt define him to me. He is the perfect person to be Oregon's Head coach in these times. He's a great person first and foremost. A great leader of young men. I'll take that over a championship all day every day.

Don't forget ridding themselves of Arroyo's painfully predictable pistol run it up the gut over and over offense and swapping it with Moorhead's more dynamic no huddle read option that'll help Verdell be a play maker on more than every 5th or 6th hand off.

This is going to sound like a dramatic flex at this point in the year, but Oregon is more than just a dark horse to win it all this season. Assuming that there IS a national championship game (a bigger stretch by the day), and that there’s even anything to play for this year, that Duck defense is going to shut people down in a way that will be shocking to many. Add in a serviceable top 25 offense and I wouldn’t wanna lineup against that team.

Man it's such a beautiful to see how one coach can influence a team's play. Oregon went from a speed based offensive team under Kelly, to a more balanced more strength and power based defensive mindset under Mario. I love it.

Coach Brooks took over a failing program that throughout the 80's was being threatened to be relegated to D2 college ball! This was predominately in part to lackluster funding and the difficulty of recruiting players to Eugene. When we made it to the 94 Rose Bowl for the first time since the early 1900's (yeah you read that right) it all changed! I love my Ducks! I remember a time when you didn't go into Autzen but sat in the parking lot tailgating and the biggest noise from the stadium was Ahhhhhhhhh! Now we're on it and a perennial contender! LET'S GO DUCKS!!!

Ill probably get flamed for this. But its just truth. Never lived in Oregon. No connection at all. But when I was 18, haven just moved to Tennessee from Minnesota and not being into football, randomly picked a team I rooted for when asked in high school. Not knowing a thing. Just heard of them. They proceeded to make fun of me. Over the years I came to love football and actually got into it. I say all this because that random lie, stuck. Almost 35 now. They became that team I rooted for. And its strong. Ha. And I love that this is that team I picked.

Not ONE mention of Scott Frost when he was Quarterbacks Coach? That was RIGHT BEFORE he went to Central Florida & went UNDEFEATED in his SECOND SEASON (before, of course, returning home to Nebraska)! Also, remember it took 22 YEARS for Tom Osborne to win his first National Title!

No, I mean 2009-2012, when Scott Frost was Oregon’s WR coach, & 2013-2015, when he was Oregon’s QB coach & Offensive Coordinator! Also, Tom Osborne's FIRST National Championship was in 1994; his LAST was in 1997, which they shared with Michigan.

I think Oregon is doing a lot of things right. There current coach is awesome, they've recruited better lately than they have in the past, its a far more balanced team, and they're playing some tough teams each year (Auburn, Ohio State). Thats definitely a proven recipe for success. The only issue is that there are other big dog schools that aren't slowing down either, have freaks in their own backyard, and play tougher schedules. Go Ducks! But until you win that Natty, LSU is the truth.

I just hope that this 2020 season will not be dismantled by the coronavirus. Since there will be no non conference games. Oregon cannot show their talent against the big games in NDSU, OSU and even a surprising Hawaii.
