ultimately lex sees himself in superman. He hates that superman is loved by everyone and, in this continuity at least, possibly resents him for his fame while lex was stuck in the shadow of Ivo. Lex wants the fame and the adulation, its why he undermines superman as a figure of good, because if he can't stand on that spot he'd rather tar down the man standing there instead. it comes down to petty ego and entitlement.

@@sarafontanini7051That actually makes sense Lex is more pissed that he had to work extremely hard to get to where he is today while Superman was born with his powers and never really had to work hard to achieve the fame and recognition he has. It gets so bad that Superman constantly tells him if he wasn’t obsessed with him he could easily become a better hero than he ever could by fixing every problem in the world like sicknesses, housing problems, food shortages, etc.

The episode that he goes Bald is when his Villain arc officially begins!

The real reason is that the creators had to sneak him into the series. They weren't allowed to have Lex in the story at all, so they put "Alex" in season 1, definitely original character I swear guys, look he has hair! Then they got permission later when their bosses liked the potential story, so Alex is now Lex!

Lex Luthor's argument against Superman is really well done in this series. While Lex is wrong about hating aliens, he's right that relying on blind faith that Superman will never turn against humanity is a bad thing. Humans have laws and police who enforce those laws so everyone is accountable. If anyone breaks the law, there are measures in place to punish the guilty and protect the innocent, but Superman is so powerful he's not accountable to anyone. This is exactly why Superman entrusted Batman with Kryptonite, just in case he needed to be stopped. Of course, none of this justifies Lex working with Waller, or his blind hatred of aliens, but it does add a layer of nuance to his arguments.

Some people say the best villains are those who have a point, but go about it the wrong way. Lex is one of the best examples of this when done properly. At their core, the main difference between modern Batman and his counter-Justice League contingency plans and most of the best versions of Lex Luthor is that Lex is too proud, and paranoid, to even consider the possibility that Superman *isn't* a threat. Lex is overly proactive, Batman is simply prepared to react if and when everything goes wrong.

@@BAMFshee Lex doesn't have a point. Who cares if Superman makes human beings feel insignificant by comparison (because that's what Lex has said in the comics is part of his beef with Superman)? Blind faith in people's inherent goodness is not what's happening here. The people of Metropolis see Superman doing good and so they cheer for him. That does not mean that they rely on him for everything or put him in charge of everything. Also, it's not like Lex Luthor isn't doing anything other than creating disharmony. He doesn't really care whether Superman breaks the law or not....he's working with Waller who's all kinds of amoral herself.

The interesting part of the debate scene to me is how Lex can be both persuasive while completely missing the mark. He does have a point that if Superman chose to turn on humanity, there's little they could do to stop him. However, Lex is also actively antagonizing Superman while saying this. In fact, Task Force X has been needling Superman just for being there. Not because he did anything wrong; he's just there, and that's enough for them. Lex does have a point that assuming Superman will always be good is pure idealism, but also poking the bear until he turns on you is equally cynical. All in all, I love this version of Lex. I'm glad the show is taking its time with him.

"Just him having a bad day could spell the end for us" Luthor always had a very solid point, despite him being a villain. Just like one comedian once said - "All it takes is just one baaad day" It takes one day to turn everything into Injustice.

This version of Lex is what I think we should have gotten more of from Jesse Eisenberg in the DCEU.

Everyone loves underdog heroes but it's a rare treat to get an underdog villain slowly making their way up to the top and I for one can't wait for this Lex to reach that devastating moment that sets everything for him into place. He's going to spend hours at the gym buffing up because his physique compared to Superman makes him self conscious. He earns billions of dollars everyday and spends it half as quickly on plans aimed at taking down Superman. He's so obsessed, he rips his own hair out at the root until he turns bald as a compulsion. He looks in the mirror and doesn't recognize the person staring back but he knows one thing and that he HATES SUPERMAN!

I love the slow rise of Lex! I can’t wait for him to be the final villain of the show

Nagatoro's influence prevented Senpai from becoming Lex Luthor. Turns out she was the hero all along.

Lex Luthor looks more like senpai (Naoto Hachiouji) from "Don't toy with me, Miss Nagatoro".

Love this show! The even made the nerdy lex luthor idea work (unlike Jesse eisenberg)

It's hard to belive but Lex is right in his calculations. Despite he is still a young one, he knows that the World have to have anythng to subdue superman or someone of equal or greater strenght than he. After all what if someone brainwashed Superman, or came someone who beaten him in combat ? The world would been doomed

Right. And who's brainwashed Superman in The Batman series? Oh that's right. It was Lex Luthor. If Superman was brainwashed by either Lex Luthor and the government or something else, who will save Clark?

Lex Luthor rise of villainy just give me the chills. And he is worthy to be Superman’s arch enemy.

Lex Luthor has been slowly rising to becoming Superman's arch nemesis, particularly in season 2. He's shown disdain for Superman since season 1 while showing that he has great intellect. Unfortunately, thanks to Jimmy, Lex Luthor is now able to act on his negative feelings towards Superman by joining Amanda Waller and Task Force X, founding LexCorp, and using manipulation to turn people against Superman. All that's left is for this version of Lex Luthor to lose his hair.

The look on Jimmy's face tells that he made a very big mistake...

a good quote to sum up lex's motives as a villain come from handsome jack in borderlands 2: "YOU are a bandit! And I am the GODDAMN HERO!" he hates that people love superman, trust in him, while nooe trusts or loves lex, that superman has the pwoer to do as he wishes while Lex lacks said power, in lex's mind at least. He wants to be the hero but to make that true in his mind he paints superman as the villain. Even when lex snaps and stands over the corpse of an inncoent he'll blame superman for it. Lex hates superman not cause he fears him, he hates superman because noone fears him,and because superman has things lex can never have.

Senpai, did Nagatoro-san tease you do badly that you became an evil genius?

It's weird to wait for a cartoon character to go bald but they'd probably make him bald when he gets cancer
