The Rise of Chinarctic | China's Chilling Ambitions to Develop in the Arctic State (Documentary)

After the rise of China’s power in Africa, are we on the verge of seeing a Chinese Arctic?
With global warming affecting the poles more rapidly than the rest of the planet, ice is melting at an accelerated rate. Over the past decade, Shanghai has invested more than five billion euros to protect itself from rising waters. But with the melting ice comes new opportunities. New shipping routes, mining provinces and fishing grounds are opening up.
In January 2018, China outlined its ambitions to develop shipping lanes opened up by global warming. The project, which would extend President Xi Jinping’s signature Belt and Road Initiative to the Arctic, has been dubbed ‘the Polar Silk Road’. It’s a policy that China has been quietly developing for several decades now. Despite being a non-Arctic state, China is increasingly active in the polar region. It has invested in gas fields in Arctic Russia, developed a research outpost in Svalbard, made new allies in Norwegian Lapland and created the first domestically built icebreaker, the Xuelong.
China also became an observer member of the Arctic Council in 2013 and now refers to itself as a “Near Arctic state.” But traditional security challenges remain. There are concerns over its long-term strategic objectives, including possible military deployment. What does China want in the Arctic? And how do the traditional Artcic powers view China’s actions?

Some media: The United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, etc. are developing the Antarctic and Antarctic for the sake of freedom, democracy, and the future of mankind. Some media: China's development of the Arctic and Antarctic is exploitation, ambition, autocracy, dictatorship, forced labor, organ trafficking, and environmental pollution. . . . . These scenes are always interesting😂😂

It's not to the fault of the media. Their job is to inform and influence public opinion; or push propaganda. I agree with you about China's ambitions in the arctic. There is much much more to the Arctic than most people in the world realize. What lies underneath the ice cannot fall into the hands of any dictatorial regime and could very well be a cause for war. China acts primarily for the benefit of its politburo, not its citizens at large of whom they have an innate fear. This may haunt them for some time to come ..

If China is concerned about climate change that directly affect China, the Arctic is not the place to solve climate change problems. China and other nations should instead work to cut carbon emissions in their own countries the consequences of which are the melting of the ice caps and icebergs in the Arctic, ….which in turn results in the melted water causing floods and rising sea levels worldwide. China is probably wanting to get a foothold on the possible oil and gas reserves in the Arctic …… under the guise of Chinese scientific research and studies.
