Bro the big easy in 2013 was by far the best conference. With multiple acc (now) teams to go along with the current BIG east

They aren't getting an on-campus arena. There is nowhere to build one on campus. They had the opportunity in the 80s and 90s but have since developed the land. Fun fact, the owner of the Wiz and Capitals, who also owns the arena where they and Georgetown play is a Georgetown alum. Now, it gets interesting with his plan to move build a new arena in Northern Virginia. Would Georgetown really move their home games there? I *SERIOUSLY* doubt this. Where does that leave Georgetown? The District of Columbia wouldn't keep the stadium and would probably turn it into housing, so Georgetown really wouldn't have a home court outside of the like 728 year-old McDonaugh Arena

“A step back one legged. What kind of shot is that? Have you ever shot that shot? Do you work on that shot? When?” Only Georgetown basketball highlight is getting memed 🤣

So playing at the Capital One Arena is the root of all Georgetown’s problems…

Playing off campus is almost always the root of problems for many teams. Look at schools like DePaul or in football teams like Miami. It cuts cost sure but at what expense

@@sportstrap4285 like any/everything you have to look at it individually. In this case Georgetown playing off campus isn't their issue. They've been playing off campus since the early 80s. Also, there's teams like Kentucky & Louisville basketball current issues aren't because of their off campus stadiums.

Georgetown Basketball and U of Miami Football were college sports royalty in the 80's and 90's and they both had similar problems (No on campus home stadium)

Dunk City did the Kano heart surgery fatality on this program. Imagine being an ‘elite’ program and getting literally dunked on by a 15 seed that started less than 10 years prior. It was a massive embarrassment. That last alley-oop was the moment Gtown died

I really don’t think that there’s enough topic of discussion for the simple fact that there can be certain games that make or break teams. An unexpected loss to a team seeded way lower in the tournament or even an early regular season loss can motivate a team or tear things apart that causes years of irrelevance or accelerated the process. It’s happened before not only in college but in the pros as well. Georgetown definitely has shown what one devastating loss can do to a program.

I think stadium location is a crutch programs use to excuse bad programs. Iowa women's basketball fans flock to any arena they play around the country. People will find a way to get to where good teams play. A lot of big schools that have arenas on campus aren't in walking distance from where the student body resides and providing busses solves the issue in most cases.

Honestly, I am not sold that Capital one Arena is the cause for a bad atmosphere. I believe the weak non conference scheduling is what is really hurting this team. I've been going to games since I was a kid and ive seen G-town pack that arena out. I remember back in the late 2000's Duke came to Cap one arena and the place was close to sold out... even Obama was sitting courtside (Gtown won the game as well). But with the weakness of the scheduling I don't see why casual fans would want to attend, and why would be name recruits want to play for Gtown. To me thats the real reason why the program is sinking. Cooley is trying to turn things around though, Im rooting for him. #HoyaSaxa

You should look at the top players at Georgetown the past 5 years analytically Basically minus Hibbert, Monroe, Hollis Thompson, Porter, and probably a few others It could be a whole lot of white or red

Did any of you guys watch tonight how piss poorly the Minnesota Gophers basketball team played against Indiana on their own home court? What stood out in my mind tonight is all Minnesota had to do was win the game and they'd be in the NCAA tournament this year. They played soo horrible that they only scored 58 points on their home floor and this is the same team that almost won at Purdue just 20 days ago. Soo whats really going on with the Minnesota Gophers Mens basketball team? They really surprised me tonight by playing as poorly as they did bc of qualifying for the NCAA tournament.
