It still BOGGLES my mind on how BADLY Polaroid fumbled the bag when it came to digital photography...especially considering how they INVENTED the technology!

@@obsidian00well, Polaroid had some management problems and they were basically stealing money from the company as long as possible. Good ideas with bad management lead to problems.

As a side note, the X-T1 is part of the second generation of cameras for the X series. The truly early iterations are as you mentioned: the X-Pro1, X-E1, and the one you missed the X-M1, which kind of became the blacksheep compared it's older brothers that released a tad earlier and aren't as overpriced. It's also replaced by the X-A line which also goes under the radar for most people.

I went to a Fuji X event last week, quite impressive performance in the new GFXs and actually with the crazy price of some medium format film cameras (hi Mamiya 7) and film, it does make sense. But that's not the point. We no want Reala ACE simulation, bring back some actual film and then we talkin'! But recently they actually are investing in INSTAX and increasing 20% production capacity. Probably it's opportuny cost that they just manufacture Instax and don't bother to coat anything else. There are if anything just rumors, but their film line up is straight up weird. Reversal is listed well (but out of stock) and C41 pro (120) is nix. For the former, I found out that they warned that due to components it'd be hard to have available for a while which can be actual and understandable given the crazy complexity of films. I like the last points, 10-13 years ago most people voted on Fuji being more commited; Ironically and adapting a tunnel vision for our niche of still films Kodak has had a much more stable lineup. Again, if I want color C41 in 120 it's just Kodak now.

X100 introduced the hybrid viewfinder and the V was released over 3 years ago now! Just gotten massive the last year or so. In the UK they're even priced 41% above the retail pricing!!! Never seen anything quite like it. I wouldn't say Kodak have completely misjudged everything. They're now making film with the Fuji label so must be making some money from Fuji themselves. They just called the digital market wrong by releasing so many low end consumer products that eventually got replaced by people's phones. Making sensors for Leica and Hasselblad couldn't cover the cost of all the other missteps sadly. Then 2008 hit them especially hard.

Did Superia return? I couldn't find it. Within reason I would happily pay a little bit more to have access to real Fuji film. I'm still looking for the button that says e"rase all digital progress and freeze technology in the20th century.". I would press it. I'd miss KZread, but I'd get a lot more done. Like sleep. 😂

We've got to wait ... Today I was at the Photopia photography fair at Hamburg/Germany, while I found no films on the Fuji booth, there were many signs, that analog photography is taking of. Ilford has even produced a relatively new color negative film, the Ilfocolor of which I bought a roll to try. Also the analog booth of a local shop for this type of films and equipment was experiencing good interest as far as I could see. So there's hope :)

ilfocolor isnt being sold and manufactured by ilford harmon in the UK, its Ilford Imaging Europe a seperate company which uses the brand to sell stuff like the disposable cameras. it is likely the film stock is the same as ORWO Wolfen Color NC-500.

@@iop223 thanks for the insight. I didn't see that on the fair, as the booth advertised both the Harman B&W films as well as the Color film and inkjet papers ... However, as I also noticed the Orwo films on the respective booth I checked for both films online. At least the seem to be different in color, so it doesn't seem the same product in different package. I'd have to try.

I just received 10 rolls of Provia 100F dated mid 2025. It seems Fuji is not abandoning the film market just yet. Now waiting to get some Velvia 50. It sells out immediately online at B and H. Its like a small lottery win to get some, but hopefully demand will make them increase production. Another great video as well!

my friend grabbed a roll of velvia for me the day it went on stock again last week at b&h - a day later it went out of stock again lol. contrary to fuji saying they'd raise their prices, both velvia and provia are actually like 4 or $5 cheaper currently than what it used to be on b&h when my friend got it so that's interesting
