Joao Felix when he was playing for Benfica he was one of the best talents in world football. He was very good he had an eye for goal, excellent eye for a pass, creative skills, excellent dribbling and technical qualities on the ball very versatile CF CAM LW etc and he was being sought after by a lot of top clubs. He scored 20+ goals and provided at least 10 assists and it was obvious that he had superstar potential. In the end, Atletico Madrid signed him for 120 million which made him the 4th most expensive transfer of all time and he was still only a teenager and it tells you how highly rated he was at the time and was given a 7 year contract initially. His move to Atletico Madrid didn't work out for both parties, because he was never suited to the way they play since he was more of an attacking player, but he never fulfilled his defensive duties and didn't have discipline to track back and he fell out of favor with Diego Simeone and he was eventually benched. A lot of forwards like Antoine Griezmann Luis Suarez Radamel Falcao Arda Turan Yannick Carrasco Angel Correa Alvaro Morata (of late) Diego Costa are attackers that have thrived under Diego Simeone, but Joao Felix just never clicked and of course the transfer fee may have weighed down on him as there was pressure for him to perform, the big picture is his profile he was just never a good fit for Atletico Madrid. We saw it in his performances as well and despite costing over 100 million pounds, he wasn't a true scorer or a productive attacker never managed to score more than 10 goals in all competitions and in La Liga alone. He had good moments but is seen as a big money flop at Atletico Madrid after having 4 disappointing seasons there. Many felt like Diego Simeone was holding him back and he was wasting his talents under him, good player but was on a team that didn't suit him and play to his strengths and last January he ended up being loaned out to Chelsea and we expected him to find his best form. He showed flashes of glimpses and looked lively during a lot of games, just like a lot of their forwards, no end product in the final third and wasn't consistent enough there. He struggled there as well, and it's difficult to blame Joao Felix because the team was a circus, they were so bad last season it was ugly and it made it difficult for players like him to perform, but at the end of the day, how many attacking players actually improve when they go to Chelsea, not many of them and he continued that trend when it came to Chelsea forwards and Mauricio Pochettino decided that the club shouldn't sign him on a permanent basis. Atletico Madrid didn't want him they wanted to sell him no top club was willing to sign him and he was in career crossroads last summer and when he had an interview with Fabrizio Romano, he expressed his desire to play for Barcelona and he really wanted the move.

When Barcelona signed Joao Felix on loan, due to his previous stints at Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, we have a lot of doubts towards him because of his lack of consistency and had problems with one of the best managers in football history in Diego Simeone and we thought that he would end up flopping again at Barcelona. So far, he has proved the doubters wrong it's early but in his first 3 games for the club he had 3 goals and 2 assists, and has been playing amazing football for them, playing with confidence on that left wing he's been impactful cutting inside and being a difference maker for them in attack. Many of us will say that Diego Simeone was holding him back and while he's playing well it's good for him and also Atletico Madrid because Barcelona will try and sign him up on a permanent basis if his performances remain consistent and he has the trust of Xavi and his teammates at the football club. When Joao Felix was playing for Atletico Madrid, he was struggling for fitness and form, but was one of the highest paid players in world football despite his performances and he took a massive pay cut just to make his dream become reality which was playing for Barcelona and he's earning around 8k a week and he sacrificed his wages for his career which is rare from players today, I'm not tryna say passion over money this, money over passion that and people say that certain players care about money instead of passion, and the guy could've continued to earn a lot of money at Atletico Madrid but not play at all, at Barcelona he's earning less of what he was getting paid at Atletico and he's playing regularly and finally enjoying his football on a team that suits his profile and strengths as a player and has less responsibilities in having to defend and track back.

overall, i watched pretty much every Atleti game since 2019, and what i can tell is that Joao Felix decides if he wants to play or not, some games he would go for every tackle, create spaces, make runs and give oportunities for his teammates, but somes games he was just not there, he would miss every pass, shot, drible, everything

I hope he does well in Barcelona but if they do not want him maybe the best is a return to the club that knows how to get the best of him that is Benfica , lets face it Barcelona is doing the best to fit him in the squad but Felix was a full year in Atletico almost without playing so he has to get that confidence back thanks to A. His talent is undeniable. But Joao's transfer to Atletico was only as a form of bridge to just jump to Barcelona when the time was right. And it had all been planned by Laporta, Mendes and Joao. The way Simeone treated him is not justified giving his perfomances and quality. When he was playing, he was almost always the best player of Atletico, but somehow Simeone always chose Correa in front of him, when in all of his years Correa was never his first choice, and it's not even now with Félix out of the squad. Most part of Atletico's fans hated this decisions by Simeone and the club even suffered a moment of separation between fans having to choose between Simeone or Félix. I can tell you this because I'm an Atleti fan and even tho I understand Simeone not wanting a player that won't be commiting 100% to the team and rather choosing someone from "home" instead, even if that made him loose a lot, the same happened to Suárez for example who was only signed for 1 season but we won the league thanks to that season, so it was a big mistake by Simeone not taking full advantage of Joao's 3 seasons with us. We could've won much more, especially when we had Griezmann and Joao together.

I don’t know what’s going on with Timo Werner during his first stint at RB Leipzig he was one of the most sought after players in world football and he was so good that Liverpool tried to hard to sign him but in the end he went to Chelsea where his stock declined big time after a run of inconsistent performances and it’s easy to blame but hey we haven’t seen an attacker improve after going to Chelsea in the last what 7-8 years and now he’s back in the Bundesliga with Leipzig struggling to get a game. His career is at such a low point right now.

I don’t think you are giving Felix enough justice. He is not a goal scorer, and while he bagged at Benfica, it was just the fact that he was the best player at the club, and not playing in a top 5 league. He is a dribbler, playmaker. If you watched him at Chelsea, he was their best player, no doubt. People really wrote off Felix, and I still am pissed at Juventus for not going after him as he is one of he best players in the world IMO.
