The Rise And Fall of Dwight Howard

Спорт

Dwight Howard is one of the best defensive players in NBA history and was the best center in the league for nearly a decade. But drama and bad decisions left blemishes on what looked to be an unquestioned hall of fame career. Here is the rise and fall of Dwight Howard.

He just have weak attitude and lacks word ethic, desire and leadership. Maybe he could have average more than 25ppg and 16 rpg if he could've been humble. That trade to the Lakers really ruin his confidence and ever since he couldn't even do what he do in Orlando where he was dominant and never had issues with any of his teammates. He is still good after leaving Orlando but he isn't that impactful as he was in his early years in the NBA. The Dwight Howard that we know before is a bit forgetten due to the dominance of the big man today like Jokic and Embiid. Being snubbed at the NBA's top 75 anniversary team just goes to show how people forgot his presence and impact on the floor.

As a huge Celtics fan I remember being so nervous about playing Orlando in the ECF. Idk if Perkins was going to be able to defend Dwight considering I knew perk of course was a great Defender against 99% of the other slow big guys but dwight was so fast on backing down and spinning around for a dunk and all Orlando had to do was lob it at the rim. Also couldn't believe how many 3 pointers they took (looking back at how teams literally take 40 3s a night now it's kind of funny I thought orlando took a ton. But it was a lot for the time. I miss the old NBA) so it was kind of like a double edge sword. Either one on one D12 and get a spin move dunk or a hook shot or double or triple team him just for him to pass out to either Lewis(ugliest shooting form ever) Carter, Nelson, Turkoglu, Reddick (who I couldn't stand for some reason) Richardson, Anderson, Williams, ect. It seemed like everyone but Howard and Gortat could shoot 3s. Man I miss the days when NBA teams had one superstar maybe even a second lesser star and built around them with guys who had specific roles like the PGs were supposed to be the play makers, you had your 3 and D specialist, defensive specialist, You had a Center who didnt so nothing but defend the paint and rebound, assist guys, perimeter defenders... now I watch centers get the rebound, sloppily dribble up court almost losing the ball 10 times and pull up for a 3 with 21 seconds left on the shot clock. Guards taking 5 steps past half court and lobbing up a 3 with 18 seconds left on the shot clock, getting 3 or 4 offensive rebounds in a row only to kick it out for a 3 everytime not even setting up any offense when I was coming up I was taught if you got a offensive rebound to throw a few elbows to make some space and go up with it and if you knocked some teeth out then you knocked some teeth out. With the rules and just the over all softness of the NBA today it's just made the game soft. That's why Marcus smart is the first Guard in over 20 something years since Gary peyton to win defensive player of the year and its because no one plays or gets scrappy or dirty like him any more so he stands out against these Pampered prissy guards today.

We're talking about a guy who had one good run in the playoffs, went to the finals and disappeared, and then let the game leave him behind. How do you not let Hakeem Olajuwan, arguably one of the best centers of all time help you with your footwork and post game when he's a part of your coaching staff? He may be in the top 15 centers all time, but he's 15.

As a Taiwanese basketball fan, I've got a request is " Please take D. Howard back to the States". At the beginning, we all have huge hope on him, expecting that he could bring the sunshine to Taiwanese Basketball League, but we are wrong. He came playing 2 games, coz of some hit on the knee in the game, then he took a two-week break then extended to a month, remember, he only played 2 games and he took 20 M. US dollars per month. In that period, we only saw that he was going to tons of parties, food tours, flirting on beautiful girls, and live streaming, there's nothing about basketball in that period. In that long month, he only trained in the gym one time, practiced with teammate one time, then, nothing! After he came back after a month long break he came back to the court, THEN AGAIN! He played two games and he said his knee was still not ok, and he got hit on the thigh the last game, his wrist felt sore too, and he took a break AGAIN! AGAIN! People in the court for him gone mad, booing on the leopard in the home court and turning into supporting the rival team. What a joke, Howard really is soft and irresponsible! Basically, I don't see him follow the strategy to play, he sucked at shooting 3- pointers and free throw, and he kept doing that, he even dribbled the ball to the half court then the PG and SG were scolded by the folks. C'mon, it's not their fault! It's really unfortunate that they are the teammates of D.H. Please take Howard back to the States, he's just like a giant baby who's cheeky on the court. At the first that I thought maybe NBA really misunderstood him, but now in these 2 months, NBA, O'Neal, and Kobe's comments were right! He's always saying he's 37 yrs and it's impossible to play more that much, but other playes who are over 35 are still playing hard and performing good scores ( Another player who is 38yrs still got 30 points after a super tired b-b-b game series and he even doesn't get 1/60 of howard's payment. )

Dwight Howard was a role player who fit a specific niche. He played great defense but little more. Once he left Orlando and their three point shooters who opened up the center for him to post up one on one he wasn't as good. What also helped was the refs stopped letting him get away with 30 fouls a game. The guy fouled on almost ever other play but seldom got into foul trouble.

He carried franchises on his back and the only thing he should regret is wasting his time in houston when he did so much there and gets no love for it. He's made every stop he's been a contending team and although he has his limitations, he's had a great career and its sad how he's viewed in history cuz he was dominant. Not top 75? PAH. The basis for the selection was not stat related. It was overall impact on the game. Fuck sake, there was two rules that got implemented because of Dwight, and another two that he forced to be altered because of his impact and dominance, and all four of those are still in effect today. And that's just one of the MANY ways Dwight has impacted the game of basketball and the NBA as a whole. And guaranteed some of his impacts will likely remain permanent. That's not worthy of top 75? Delusional is the first word that then pops to mind.
