    I met Austin this week, he’s not doing well currently and definitely doesn’t appear to be clean. If you truly know this man please reach out to him. It’s never too late for recovery and relapse happens, it’s always worth another shot when it comes to sobriety. If you need help locating him I’m positive Lincoln County PD can help.

    Stories like this make me so happy the "attitude era" is seemingly over. Addiction is real, and it ruins lives. Guys like Stroupe, Lawrence, and Izzi didn't just flame out of motocross, they ruined their lives too

  • @FalseHope61

    @FalseHope61

    2 жыл бұрын

    It wasn’t an attitude issue. These were kids that had terrible support systems. Their parents used them as a tool for a get rich scheme. They were enabled, young, and the priority. They wanted to win, pushed to win, crashed, hurt themselves, and then were given pain killers, over and over. Back then, nobody thought you could get addicted to them if you took them as prescribed. That’s bullshit. We know that now. I went through it. Imagine when you go into withdrawal, you have the worst flu of your life, while simultaneously your body is in real pain, I mean it feels like every bone in your body is broken. But all you have to do is take another pain pill, that’s gone in 10 minutes, and lasts another 5-6 hours. That’s how it happens.

    This is a interpretation from an outsider looking in, only few know what truly caused this? This is a very dangerous sport and you are only 1 crash away from maybe never walking again? Not to mention people hyping you up your whole life telling you how great you are , family members included, wanting you too be something they never could be ? There is more then just giving into pain killers.

    Pro motocross is a tough business. Look how many have come and gone in a short period of time due to injuries, , pressure, etc. When you reach the capability to run with the big boys, your chances of injury increase tenfold. So many have the speed and fitness, but staying healthy is a HUGE part of the game. As a racer myself, I know this all to well.

    I remember seeing this kid at a local track here in NC on his 80 hitting a 90 foot triple that was right out of a corner. Even a lot of the big bikes weren’t even jumping it, mainly only the A and B class guys were so to see him doing it on his 80 was wild! He was super fast to be so small! I knew he would be a good pro rider one day, sad to see him throw it away.

    What often happens is because you are only taking what a doctor prescribed, you assume it's safe. You start wanting more because it's not working anymore. It all happens so gradually and pretty soon you have a big problem.

    Ya definitely would be nice to see a video about the mx/sx drug testing policies and if they’ve evolved at all or stayed the same and about how far medical marijuana has come to help people in pain but pretty sure the AMA don’t care and it’s banned but ya idk so a video on the subject would be nice .. I can personally say my nana was on pain killers for over 20 years with many different health problems but about two years ago quit using pain killers for some medical cbd shit she gets offline that she is just completely blown away how much better it works for pain and a lot of her other health issues have just disappeared as a result .. the thing with pain killers and a lot of other drugs is first off everyone’s different but also they don’t know all the side effects when you start taking multiple drugs.. most of the testing trials test one drug at a time not one drug with 5 different other drugs in your system.. also a video on JS7 and Tickle getting banned and explaining all the details of that whole deal would be cool .. just a idea

    It really sucks that the opioids epidemic started when this generation of great riders were hitting their prime. at first the doctors were fooled also as to the addictive nature of them. it was to late for that generation when it became known and reform of prescribing norms were implemented. We lost a good class of young riders to it. bad timing for sure. After 40 years of riding and racing, I also became a victim of it and lost 6 yrs of my life, so I have so much compassion for them. glad it was not around when I was young.

    Those “crimes” aren’t crimes. Crimes have victims. Those offenses are only bad because they’re not controlled and dolled out by doctors and pharma, therefore not profitable to the elites. All the way back to reefer madness, substance control has always been tied to the profits of industry, including prohibition. Unrelated, I know, but important to understand.
