So two interesting things Nux did not touch on in this episode is. 1. Evil Morty actually set up his own assassination to get the majority of votes because it would be the only way for hold outs or uncertain Ricks to vote for a Morty and get any non interested Mortys to vote for a Morty as well. And 2. WIlly Wanka Ricks might not have been killed if he bothered to show sympathy for the Rick he tricked since he would have been busy doing that rather than showing up for the meeting only emphasizing that Rick's callousness of everything is something that can easily get him killed because the only reason he was there in the first place was to ensure he had say and didn't want to give up any power, Hen's why all the ricks who raised their hands get shot, they would have put up a fight against Morty.

The citadel of Rick episode was peak fiction that personally got me interested how their multi-verse society works and how it negatively treats certain ricks and the majority of Morty’s that deviate from the system.😺

Nux seems to do the Everyman thing of acting like a fool, while keeping his actual thoughts for the things that he has something to say about. Part of why I enjoy watching Nux is because all of his haters point out the porn referencing or the cringe humor, but none of them have taken the time to see how analytical Nux actually is. Part of what makes him have some of the most deranged haters on the web.

Ain't no way people say Season 3 is the season that fell off. I thought it's always regarded as the top season in the series.

34:40 here’s another interesting fact to think about other than the wish for ‘1000 sandwiches’ The other two essentially got their wishes as episodes of the show. They did try for ‘cooler’ episodes. And let’s not forget the really weird episode that ends with a giant Morty sperm impregnating a giant version of one of Summers, eggs creating an incest, baby that gets shut up into space. And of course, we all know that depressed Morty got his wish too.

Notice how evil morty never actually answered the question. He just gave a big speech like most politicians would.

Heres a terrifying thought, what if you get to the point of multiversal travel, only to find out tou were literally the only you that made it tgat far

Then you go and start "recruiting" some "friends" from neighboring dimensions, IE potentially how the citadel even started if Rick's back flashes are canonically accurate. His background might just be the normal progression of most Ricks: an alternate Rick shows up, at this point presumably sent by the citadel themselves, murders his families and flees, Rick is forced to "invent" interdimensional portal travel only to discover the citadel and how our gunned they are, most do the "smart" thing and immediately give up on fighting them and joins then instead. Now you only strictly need a single Rick of origin that is sufficiently ruthless and motivated to set off the "loop" and set off what should be an eternal self renewing ever looping process so long as no outside forces interfere with it.

The Citadel episodes have always been my favorites :3 If you look at President Morty's banners at the end, they specifically placed the Morty 'M' above the Rick 'R.' Not something you'd normally think twice about unless you're looking for it

@@willem8820 Well in all fairness Rick simply operates at a level where normal moral assumptions start to break down. He can create, destroy, and modify reality with an ease that openly mocks our quaint views of right and wrong as simple standard humans. That makes it much harder to accurately place him on any sort of standard alignment. For instance would a" lawful good" Rick cease to be lawful good on account of NOT imposing maximum good on literally everyone everywhere, simply on account of likely being able to actually pull that off but choosing not to? IDK it's hard to say.

You can understand his reasoning but still think of him as evil. There are other fictional characters that are similar but are still evil.

One thing I think nux got wrong was that the rick who shatters the grand illusion seemed to me like he was trying to save simple rick. I suppose it could track for a rick to use someone like that, but this dude didn’t seem like he was on that far end of malicious for ricks.

What I love about the Citadel metaphor is that it can be expressed with math. Specifically inverse operations, or solving for a variable. There are traits common to all Ricks across the multiverse, same with Mortys. We can express those traits with the word 'Rick' and the word 'Morty'. And every Rick and Morty in the Citadel is at least slightly different from one another, and those differences can be expressed with a variable; an X or a Y or any other symbol. When all Ricks have those 'Rick' traits, the nature of society divides by 'Rick,' so 'Rick (X)' suddenly just becomes X. 'Morty (Y)' just becomes Y. So even though they're all copies of the same two people, it becomes a regular society because it doesn't matter, they're all boiled down to what makes them unique and lumped into categories.

Still the best Rick and Morty episode to date. Though something I just realized was that so far we have yet to see a Simple Rick have a happy ending. Our Rick was this close to becoming a Simple Rick, but Rick Prime came and blew it up. And the one we see in this episode managed to totally evade Rick Prime but ended up getting abducted by other Ricks to make... cookies. Also, Campaign Manager Morty is probably one of the most tragic characters in fiction.

I insist, man. This ep reminds me of Brazil the movie. Dude, that movie left me disturbed in the end.

To be fair, even if the Assassin Morty _had_ shot Evil Morty in the head, he probably wouldn't have died. Jerry was shot dozens of times, including through the head, and it was equated to getting a splinter, and he made a full recovery with no issues

This episode traumatized me. It was the second episode of rick and morty I ever saw when I was 10 years old. And yet it made me love the show even more. I didn’t understand all the deep stuff I just felt bad for the morties

I personally also don’t think it fell off, good going Nux!

The only things that turn people off from this show is the toxic fanbase (the mulan sauce...) and the show's obsession with incest.

As mess up as it sounds, that Rick who got shot and trick into becoming the new simple Rick kinda got what he deserve, a Rick should be intelligent enough to know to never trust another Rick, but than again arrogant have always been the poor man downfall

Imo...Tales Of The Citadel is the best episode of Rick & Morty, and by far the darkest...the way it's shot in certain scenes is very unnerving. That Zoom Out Shot when the Morty Intern attempts an assassination on Evil Morty is just straight chills...not to mention the final shot of all the bodies floating in space...Rick & Morty will never reach that level of peak again...
