Also, she was born without arms through a genetic quirk, thus her use of the water tentacles as limbs. Avatar has done an amazing job of portraying bending as a tool for those born without certain bits and pieces.

18:22 he also used it to destroy his own temple back in season one so the Gaang could escape. Then during season 2 ep 1, he was explaining the Avatar State and I think that’s when we saw Avatar Szeto lavabend some volcanoes.

Zaheer being so good at airbending makes quite some sense for a non-bender. Airbending of all bending, compliments martial arts the most, Zaheer being a martial artist who is also really smart knows this and therefore knows how to bend pretty well.

The fact that Ming-Hua can waterbend without arms really shows how talented and dangerous she is.

Old Man Zuko's design is based off of Avatar Roku since it shown near the end of Avatar that Zuko was Roku's descendant

Lava bending is something only some earth benders can do but fun fact fire benders although they cannot bend lava they can bend the heat away from the lava making it rock again and zosin does this while helping roku fight the volcano right before betraying him.

The scene with Kyoshi splitting her Island from the earth mainland is the best example for lavabending from the series 🌋

@@roguechevelle that would be my assumption, since aang could always bend any element when he went to the avatar state so it would make sense to be that way. But that also means the avatar state can probably use lightning and any future avatars could know how to redirect it since zuko taught aang

10:42 funnily enough, Ming-Hua gotta *not* bloodbend. The creators initially gave her that ability because two of her friends also have special subskills, but after two seasons with waterbending main villains, they didn’t want her to feel like a repeat of Amon. Instead of a speciality like lavabending, Ming-Hua uses normal bending to make up for a disability.

Despite how funny a lot of the things Tenzin was saying to win people over, he was also desperate. The prospect of bringing back an extinct race and not be one of the last airbenders anymore would certainly make you feel that way imo. I loved how Korra tried approaching talking first before she reverted back to her hotheaded self and started dragging Ryu out the house lol. She tried 😅 Grey DeLisle (Azula's VA) is honestly just everywhere! Zuko's first appearance in ATLA: "I must capture the Avatar" Zuko's first appearance in LOK: "The Avatar must be protected"

fun fact, Avatar Kyoshi was also a lava bender, if you remember the scene where she splits the islands (when aang turned into kyoshi) she rises the lava in between the gap then pushes the island away

I really thought Dee was going to jump out of her seat in a mixture of surprise, joy, tears, all the emotions 😊 ngl, I lost my shit when I saw zuko again I literally fan-girled and not even ashamed of it 😂

no spoiler : lava is molten rock , so logically an earth bender can do this , and of course fire benders can bend the fire coming from that lava ( avatar Roku in ATLA ). The same way water benders and earth benders can both bend mud ( Katara & Toph in ATLA)

There are two different kinds of lava bending, the earth bending kind, and the fire bending kind. Fire benders can make lava by heating earth, but they can’t really control it. Earth benders can just straight up make and bend lava.

19:47 Sokka is dead its never said directly in the show but remember when Katara said smth like "when you were in my age you understand the importance of spending time with your siblings" i think in season 2? (apparently she also said that her brother and most of her friends are gone in the very first episode according to other ppl in my replies so its been said directly in the show too) she is probably just talking about how she lost Sokka and misses him

YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! One of the best episodes of this season. We get introduced to Zaheer in the first episode, only to find out he has a whole gang of incredibly skilled benders. And of course we don't know what their goal is yet. These 2 episodes were so well done, introducing the villains in such a spectacular way. And not to forget seeing Zuko again after so long! Loved the reaction ladies, keep it up! 👍👍👍

These prisoners that are defeated the white lotus with ease are VERY strong that’s why they are getting packed up so easy. Also don’t forget the only time we ever saw the white lotus fight it was the literal masters of their respective art in the finale of the last series. Not all white lotus are masters lol

It's not fire bending what Ghazan is doing but Lava bending. It's just molten rock, same with waterbendings turning water into ice. And also a very rare ability to master. Also this book will get better and better. Masterpiece of a book

Lava is literally liquid rock which is why it makes sense for earth benders

Zuko looks cool because the writers combined Zuko and Avatar Roku's designs

Also, kyoshi can lavabend too, you see it in atla when aang is on trial for killing chin the conqueror, but kyoshi showed a flashback she used it to seperate the island and make kyoshi island

guys...when the villains are so absurdly skilled that they dispatch high-level benders....we don't call the high-level benders trash. I hate this extreme in action media. If the person fighting the insanely skilled bad guy doesn't win...they're useless, but when they can compete they're amazing. It's one or the other? The White Lotus guys throw some pretty good shots and work well together. They animate them well...because the point was to depict these guys dodging shots on point and defying insane odds as they escape.

Love you guys so much finally get to see Zuko again

Absolutely, really gives you a sense of how dangerous this man is even as a non-bender and how hard they probably had to fight to capture him the first time, Zuko hearing the news that he was gifted with airbending and thus escaped must've felt like getting SHOT

Just so you know zaheer isn’t a master at airbending. He’s just someone who got airbending and is good with it. He’s not a master and soon you’ll understand what that means 🙌🏾

Obvious the WL can’t beat these top tier benders they are foot soldiers fodder. These benders aren’t regular benders. They are some of the most powerful benders in the universe.

All the prison breakout scenes are really well made imo. And yeah, maybe the white lotus should be stronger, but to be fair, I think Zaheer's group is just that good and dangerous. There's a reason why every single one of them was kept in solitary confinement for life

You know, something that has always bothered me is shouldn't Lavabending be considered a form of Firebending & not Earthbending? Keep in mind, both Avatar Roku & Avatar Szeto (the Firebending Avatar before Yangchen) were shown bending lava from volcanos, yet here in Legend Of Korra Lavabending is treated as part of Earthbending?

Lava is basically liquid earth, it's not really any different than a water bender turning ice into water. Except it takes way more energy to melt rocks, so it's a rare ability for earth benders. Even if it was originally meant to be fire bending, it makes a lot more sense as earth imo. And I don't think it was since the only people we ever saw do it before Gazan were Avatars, Kyoshi did it too when she split her Island from the main land.

She can't blood bend without hands, that's why they took them from her, Amon doesn't count because he had psychic blood bending that was passed down by his father
