I’m revisiting this in 2023 and I’m so sad to see Eugenia is the worst she has ever been. She looked so healthy and beautiful during her recovery. The color returned to her cheeks and she was glowing. I fear she hasn’t much time left in this world if she doesn’t turn herself around soon.

What… she just gained a bit of weight and learned some things in therapy, I know that might seem like a lot but honestly she was no where near recovering at this point. Trust me, it can take years to fully be right in the brain again, EDs are no joke. (From experience and 7 years in intensive therapy)

@@that_mars yeah I know, I had disordered eating (I wouldn't really say it was full on ED) and it took me about 3/4 years to really recover and some thoughts are still with me just don't have that kind of impact anymore and I can fight them a lot easier. I just meant that she looked like she was really going to get out of it this time and it's just sad that the first relapse made her stop trying to get out and find happiness.

it's genuinely sad that you're blaming Shane for this. First of all, look at her past before Shane was ever involved. She was living life the way she wanted to. Second of all, if she was a minor whose brain did not develop well enough to make big decisions like exposing her life to a camera, yes, Shane was in the wrong. Except.... shocker... she is not a minor and her life was always on display (HER decision). Thirdly, Shane did NOT just go to her house randomly and unannounced and started to film her.... they clearly agreed to it and obviously it was not just both of their names that consented to this. If you wanna blame someone for how she is even though she is living her life the way she wants to, blame the person that raised her and was not careful enough with her habits. Finally, she is a grown ass adult and if she wants to live her fucking life a certain way, let her be and stop thinking you're entitled enough to make decisions for her and blame others according to your skewed view of things, okay?

Regardless of Shane being the wrong person for this - I can’t believe how lucid and aware she was in this video. It breaks my heart, she speaks her age, she speaks truths but it was all for nothing and just her saying what we wanted to hear. She reminds me of Rue from Euphoria, she knew exactly what she was going to start doing again when she got out of rehab. It’s so devastating. 😢

So strange how all of us have invested our energy and attention to this story for so long... but it really breaks my heart to see her decline, especially after this video was made. It's so depressing. She really is a super genuinely nice person the few times I've interacted with her. Of course she's naturally beautiful, when she's doing well, she looks like half the girls I went out with in the 2000's. When I was 16 - 17 when we were all doing the scene thing, when Myspace was important, my ex girlfriend developed an eating disorder 6 months into the relationship, or maybe it just became worse around then. I lived with her, her mom and her younger sister who walked a line between enabling and bullying her. It was torture watching someone kill themselves, while the people who were supposed to be helping were doing the opposite. We broke up, I moved back home, she's better now and we're still friends but man, I'll never forget that helpless feeling. It's so hard, like drug addiction and alcoholism are so incredibly difficult, but when you're illness is focused around not ingesting something or avoiding something like food, it's unimaginable. Then the way your body adapts so quickly to not eating, it doesn't take long before you no longer feel hunger or even remember what hunger feels like. It turns into reminding yourself that you haven't eaten in a while or realize you have no energy and are dizzy.

I am seriously in tears watching this now. She really is a sweet soul and it hurts to see her smile and joke and have a quick whit while looking beautiful, knowing she has taken a turn for the worse. This poor girl has been so ostracized by the world, did we think that was going to help?

Shane used to be my favorite youtuber, i practically grew up with him when I was younger. But this video solidified for me that he has turned into a nasty, money grubbing narcisst. He took one of the most vulnerable girls on youtube, puts her in front of 33 million people when shes FRESH out of rehab, asks her every single question the therapist told him not to ask, and then never talks about it again. This video was her downfall. Shes in the worst state we've ever seen her in and suddenly her 'best friend' shane is nowhere to be found. He took advantage of this poor girl's disorder and naive attitude for money. He still makes money off of this video, despite his 'best friend' literally withering away. It's heart wrenching to see how money obsessed people are, that they'd manipulate vulnerable people like this.

Looking back in 2023, we all know shane was not the one who should have done this, but so far hes the only one that has been in that house and had to be around that mother. He himself is shocked at everything that is going on, from the locks on the door to the attorney never leaving. At the very least he’s exposing the abuse that her mother is inflicting. He genuinely is scared for his friend after seeing the way she lives.

Juliana Xenia A personal thought of mine is that she’s getting abused and enabled by her mother and father. If you look up “Eugenia Cooney locked in basement” There’s a stream clip of her having to call her mother for permission to leave her room and to unlock the doors so she can go upstairs. Also In the clip you can hear a doorbell and noise for whenever the doors open.

I wish she could see how absolutely beautiful, happy, and healthy she looks in this video. You deserve to live a healthy and long life, Eugenia. Please try to get better. You don’t need to do this to yourself, please get help or allow somebody to help you. As of late 2023, this is not at all how you should be living.

I watched most of the video, and I am displeased with how this was handled. Shane was intrusive and displayed signs of cold empathy. Rather than allowing Eugenia to guide the conversation, Shane would input these different ideas into the conversation for her to talk about. It wasn't an interview. It was Shane wanting to find out the gossip and drama to get views. That stood out to me in the first 10 minutes. The way Shane reacted beforehand was more of keeping himself in this spotlight...like when he encouraged flaws in Eugenia rather than any strengths. The entire interview was a focus on how Eugenia is flawed. That stood out to me the most. Shane talks about her smiling all the time and being so nice. To me, it seemed like he was projecting inauthenticity onto her. I took it as "I'm not a nice or kind person, so why are you?" I think Shane is very shallow and likes to surround himself with drama. I don't think he had any intention of "helping" her. I think it was a transaction. "I make a video exposing you, and this is profitable for me because I get more attention." I don't think Shane is a nice or kind person. I think he is very insecure. His first interaction with Eugenia was to talk about her appearance. It was staged and set up to pry into her life. I think he preyed on Eugenia, so when she felt vulnerable enough to talk about her own struggles he could then minimize by redirecting the conversation back to himself, or exploit her and focus more on the body aspect. It would have been different if he had talked less and let her guide the conversation. I think this was about Shane gaining something outside of a relationship or friendship, I think it was purely transactional.

Ah shit. I have that same fuckin smile. I was definitely abused growing up lol. It’s really annoying. I feel like a freak, smiling all of the time. And it’s not even a real smile. When my real smile actually comes out people get excited and point out that I actually smiled. It sucks. I can’t do shot about it. It might be the reality for some but people shouldn't just give up, EDS definitely alter the way someone thinks and causes you to "not care" because it gives them more control and there are so many other factors aswell. Because getting answers was the point of this. She obviously wasnt ready to share and she might never be. But she didn't answer the questions asked and this video could have been better when she really is ready to share and when she has had more than 6 months to understand herself and work through her troubles.and I don't want this to be taken as a negative or hateful comment, but it should have waited until she was 100% ready to accept, reflect and talk about it, because it was clear she wasnt ready. The only thing I got from this is that she is seriously the nicest, cutest person I have ever seen. And that she is so photogenic it hurts.

Shane really took advantage of someone at their absolute most vulnerable for money and views. I wonder if Eugenia wouldn’t have relapsed as hard as she did if she wasn’t forced to be so public about it. (I know she didn’t want treatment in the first place and probably planned to fall back on her old ways from the get-go)

I have a really hard time believing anything Shane says to be true. Shane has been shown to be a master manipulator, and Eugenia has been completely overtaken by this disorder for so long. And maybe she did ask him, but given Shane’s track record, there’s no way he was completely selfless in the creation of this

shane is probably one of the most disgusting human beings ever- you can really feel his “god complex” kick in for “helping and being ‘kind’ to the girl on the brink of death”. seeing eugenia now and even then, you can just look in her eyes and see the pain, the trauma, the hurt, the shamefulness. it hurts my heart so bad for her, knowing that she deep down inside is a good person, she has so many people rooting for her. we’ve all watched her slow slow ten year suicide and i wonder if this year is the year. every single video she posts or livestream she does, she looks worse.

This is how I feel. I don't think this video caused her relapse - I think her eating disorder caused her relapse. Some people struggle with EDs their whole life and it takes more than one try. Recovery is almost never linear. It's a journey, and a lifestyle/life change. You can't just throw someone into a rehab center and expect them to come out a month or two later, fully recovered and stay that way. Also, she was basically forced into rehab- via intervention -but not forced into this video. There are any number of things that could have led to her getting to the point she's at now, but I don't get the vibe that this video was done selfishly or with the express purpose of profiting off of Eugenia without consideration for her personal recovery journey. I do want to make it clear that I'm only commenting on THIS video. I don't know what kind of person Shane is, and I've never seen any of his other stuff, but I thought this video was done very well and shouldn't be blamed for her current ongoing struggle. At least not without Eugenia, herself, saying otherwise.

This hits different when you know Kate the “therapist” knew for a long time about Eugenia

I’m currently dying from anorexia. My heart gave out and I had to have open heart surgery. I’ve suffered for many many years. I will die if I don’t get help. I would love to go to Remuda ranch as I have horses. I would love to go to any place with her. To motivate others to stop killing themselves……that’s my goal. And I would absolutely love if Eugenia would go to a partial program and maybe I could help her and others. I’ve lost so many years to anorexia. I know nothing about ED but I do know about Addiction and it’s NOT easy to just quit.. like the lady said, it’s a coping mechanism and our problems just don’t stop when we stop with our coping mechanisms(whatever they may be) our problems are still going to be there and until we deal with THOSE problems, we will still have those cravings and urges to do whatever we do to cope with THOSE problems.. Damn, this aged like milk.

Having been inpatient before myself. It’s so hard to hear her say like “I did what I had to do” and just kinda avoiding the depth of how bad it got just makes me see myself when I just did it to get everyone off my back and my parents. And I just was so in denial that it was so hard to see myself at a healthy weight happily. And I realized like I can’t actually get better until I really admit that I was sick and I was in a bad state and realize that I need to choose recovery 100% or I would eventually relapse one way or another. And I just hope she can see herself in a manner that she both needs and wants to get better. I know how hard it is and I hope it gets better for her..
