Most smart businessmen steer clear of wrestling, especially on an independent level. It just doesn't make money. Venues, talent, seating, and rings (if all up to snuff and paid for fairly) are bound to cost more than a few hundred filled seats can make up. You'd be lucky to break even, and then add on the expenses of filming something fit for paid streaming? Good luck with that.

The first show was originally A Twist Of Fate then changed to A Cruel Twist Of Fate after Matt went back to WWE. My brothers went to the first few shows. I still have all the DVDs from the first run...all still worthless I'm sure. Didn't bother with the reboot because I figured it would end the same.

I went to the new twist of fate 1pw show and it was absolutely incredible. Met Hammerstone, Ace Austin and Man like and it was honestly such a great night with some mental spots

I've been to a few of their Doncaster shows as it's local, saw Will Osprey win their title, met Lance Archer, my daughter got to meet and have a picture with Jamie Hayter. So far they've been good, and in my brief email interaction with Steven Gauntley he was very helpful. There was an event advertised for 12th August at the Dome whih disappeared, we assumed it had something to do with the fact WO is their champion and he might get tapped for AEW in London, good to find out whats going on. I'll book the October tickets on credit card so i can claim it back.

It has not been a scam the times i have been but i should tell my daughter we can't go because someone on the internet said a thing? The protections that the various payment methods offer are there for a reason, hopefully everyone takes advantages of those protections and scams will not prosper

Not saying don’t go but it makes it easier to claim back when they can’t turn around and say it’s been 3 months as some credit cards companies assume everything you buy is a product for some dumb reason and it can be a pain to get sorted The company is undeniably been a scam there’s hundreds of people who were lied to and left out of pocket, but I think it’s more the dude behind it is incompetent than there being ill intent, so some stuff will go right just make sure you cover your back which you seem to already be doing

I never met a promoter who goes around robs people off their money with broken promises, and giving dysfunctional arcade cabinets.

I attended the first four return shows and they were all perfectly ran, thankfully. Great shows. But yeah, I simply didn't know about the old controversy surrounding the promotion. Not until dodgy dealings began surfacing a few months back. Extremely disappointing. Don't think I'll ever want to go again.

Tbf i was at the latest Doncaster Dome show and it was a fantastic show

There’s just something so dollar store about everything they do, from graphic design to production quality it all feels so cheap and low effort. Even small time local indie circuits have atmosphere and identity with their events, 1PW looks so passionless.

I don't understand why 1PW planned to make a comeback if they can't afford to keep themselves afloat? (at least that's what it seems).

why's he a scammer?

I went to 1PW during its original run from 2005 to 2007. I was 10 when A Cruel Twist of Fate started, and while it was disappointing Matt Hardy couldn't make it, they got AJ Styles instead, and we couldn't be happier. I remember the crowd going nuts and chanting "FUCK MATT HARDY!" because they got TNA's rising star instead. This was back when TNA and ROH wrestlers were popping off, and as the shows went on, we got a good mix of wrestlers from all sorts of backgrounds and promotions, from home-grown talent like Darren Burridge, Spud, Johnny Storm and Jodey Fleisch, to former ECW and WCW stars. Honestly, it was great back then, and fans could even meet the wrestlers during the signings, buy some merch, get photos with them etc. Matthew Polinsky got a big push here, before he'd eventually go on to NXT and then commentate for WWE. They also got Blue Meanie and his mentor Al Snow on board, as well as Tracy Smothers. 1PW Will Not Die was, ironically, the last show they did for a while, and was meant to be the last hurrah for the promotion. While it was a shame to see it end, they did some cool stuff toward the end, like bringing fans into the ring after one of the tag matches for a dance-off. And a lot of the wrestlers were hugging the crowd as the show closed, especially SJK, who'd been with the promotion since 2005. A bitter-sweet conclusion. After that, I was mostly out of the loop when it came to wrestling. 1PW left me satisfied, and life pulled me in other directions, so I had no clue that 1PW ever got revived after 2007. I can't speak for the show's quality after its revivals, but the shows I attended were truly special, and it was evident that the people running it were just as passionate about wrestling as the audience that filled out the Doncaster Dome those nights. The fact that our favourite wrestlers here could tango with the likes of Abyss, AJ, Christopher Daniels, Christian Cage, Rhino, Harry Smith and the many indies who would go on to thrive at WWE, all in a small part of Yorkshire, was unbelievable, yet to their credit, they made it happen. Again, I can't speak on anything past 2007.

I ordered a package from them back in April..... Still yet to get it, the communication has been piss poor apart from one person. Don't even think I'll ever get it and or money back

Steven Gauntley also ran a wrestling promotion called 'Pro Wrestling 101' for about a year in 09. Another sure-fire hit 😂 The book 'All or Nothing' on 1PW is a fascinating read on the company's history.

Steven has lost all of his ties with the group of people who ran the return shows successfully. The people from BWR in Grimsby are no longer connected to 1PW so its future is fairly bleak at this point.
