Deuteronomy 34:7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. Cadell story of his friend, Matthew story of becoming a father and toxicity of work, suffering of each particularity to fully understand universal. feeling we cant transcend our particularity to universal would be to gain the whole word and lose this Soul Matthew wonderfully put words to and path to fallow 😊❤

Outstanding discussion, and I really like how Cadell noted there are different approaches to masculinity between religion and psychoanalysis, and how ultimately an integration between the two is needed. Religion can give direction (definition), but without psychoanalysis (speaking) this can prove pathological (to allude to a recent Substack piece by Cadell, there seems to be a difference between “Homeostatic Masculinity” and “Sithome Masculinity,” we might say). I’m very glad the “preparation vs plan” distinction is helpful, and I agree with Cadell on where we need to locate the wisdom conversation. I also really like the framing of how humanity has never really thought seriously the tension between biological and cultural creation, and I love the idea that “the family business” is central to this discussion. Really, really wonderful dialogue!

Yes this family business idea was a real powerful gem for us to work and develop further. No doubt O.G Rose being key to that.

It was a very interesting novel distinction Cadell offered between pscyho- therapeutic and religion. I'm holding my own trinity of 'Christianity-Plant Medicine-Philosophy' as offering some similar degree of mutual counter-balancing for a Christianity beyond itself. i guess in this case I'd be collapsing psychotherapy under the philosophy and plant medicine pieces.

Interesting conversation. I’m hearing “male masculinity” as opposed to “female masculinity” or both when you are referencing “masculinity.” As opposed to “the masculine.” Wish I could ask you. 🙏✨

Very interesting Cathy thank you. Where I’m coming from in this dialogue is a sensibility that ‘the masculine’ and ‘the feminine’ are fundamentals, archetypal aspects of reality that both men and women contain and can consciously integrate. However, regarding masculinity and femininity I still associate these words specifically with men and women. Of course defining masculinity and femininity can be tricky. I’d like to orient those towards virtues or highest expressions (which would be in relation to the archetypal/divine masculine/feminine) however, for me, masculinity and femininity are ‘I know it when I feel it’ kinds of qualities more than definitions.
