The Rescue List, which debuted on PBS in 2020 and won the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary, is a redemptive story of two children recovering from childhood slavery in Ghana. The filmmakers, guided by their backgrounds in anthropology, spent many months in the field building relationships with the rescue team, social workers, and the children. In this talkback event, film producers Alyssa Fedele and Zachary Fink discuss the process their filmmaking process. Visual anthropologist Robert Y. Chang, coordinating producer of America ReFramed (PBS), moderates the discussion.
