The Red Mountain Challenge! (Morrowind)

Ойындар

This challenge is inspired by Lord of the Rings in which we have to bring Fargoth's Ring of Healing into the fire's of Mount Doom! (Or just Red Mountain in this case)
How does it go? Do I get a little mad towards the end? Do we ultimately accomplish our goal?
Credit to Joseph Ellis for the awesome idea in a previous video's comment section! All ideas for runs are always considered and thank you for such great suggestions!

Loved the video, inspired me to do a Fargoth roleplay of what would have happened if the PC died to a mubcrab outside seyda neen and Fargoth found the body, opened the instructions from the emperor and decided to carry them out in honour of the friend that returned his ring.

Are there some famous Morrowind Lotr mods out there actually? Haven't seen much of those (at least not for Morrowind).

So believe it or not, The Elder Scrolls has loads of lore about climate, some of which has never appeared in games but content outside the games, and Bethesda has said they often refer to climate when designing environments So the lore says that Morrowind tends to be more on the temperate to hot side, I think thats mentioned in the in game book "on Morrowind" even. But for obvious reasons its even hotter near Red Mountain. I saw one source when fact checking myself that noted the cloud movements indicating a southerly wind, but this is not stated in any official material as far as I know. However a southerly wind would explain why the souther coast of Vardenfell is more habitable, implying that it would be cooler, and the north coast would be a little hotter. The southeast coast is wet and warm. An NPC when you ask about geography says its climate is similar to Black Marsh You are correct that an active volcano does not necessarily mean a region will be hot, but in this case, it is

@@BoToChris No, encumbrance *definitely* affects jump height. I'm not sure if anyone has managed to put together what the jump height formula is through data point collection yet, but as far as I know it's still not something we really have access to, unless someone over on OpenMW development figured it out, and I wouldn't be suprised if they did, I remember seeing a thread on it awhile back, but I didn't see any conclusive formula proposals. Even so, though, it's very-much agreed upon that encumbrance affects jump height/distance, and it's very easy to see. Go into game, set your acrobatics to some high number with console commands, and then give yourself varying levels of encumbrance. You'll see a very clear effect.

Encumbrance definitely affects jump height but, as with pretty much everything else in Morrowind, fatigue also plays a major role in the calculations. I'm not exactly sure which has the larger role overall, but both are extremely noticeable, at least in regards to the Scrolls of Icarian Flight. It just so happens that he had both low fatigue and high encumbrance effectively creating a worst of both worlds scenario.

I remember trying to do this a decade ago, well, without the ring as I was just trying to see if I could get there. I remember there was a full set of glass armor you could steal somewhere near the red mountain and I grabbed a ton of scrolls along the way. I failed miserably, but I'm glad to see someone years later prove it possible and I'm glad I didn't actually have to do it.

16:16 I remember thinking this exact thing. Morrowind was the first game I got (I was like 11) and it was so unbelievably difficult and scary (watching now it looks so jank, but at the time it literally felt like I was getting chased by the most terrifying specters). Seeing the stilt strider was always an unclenching of the bhole moment

Rewatching this makes me thing that challenge would be interesting in Oblivion. The ring has to be the ring of burden from the mages guild quest and the volcano is inside the big oblivion gate near Bruma where you get the great sigil stone. So basically start in the tunnels under the Imperial City like usual, then start the mages guild quest as soon as possible and do the Cheydinhal recommendation quest to get the ring, then do the main quest while being under the evil weight of the ring, and at the end throw it in the lava in the big gate.

Also this idea is awesome and i have another for you, you could remake Russel Crowe’s Fightin round the world, hand to hand and unarmored build, fight every NPC that insults you, or talks to you, or looks at you, or walks through your shot, pretty much fight everybody. Fun maybe?
