I agree. I don't know if the chest rig has the same buckles as mine, but I have a similar chest rig with a small hydration pack that replaces the X harness. I believe it's condor. It can be removed to use a full size back pack.

I have the exact same chest rig. A tip that I have that I've learned from someone else is to keep a paint can opener on some shock cord tied to some point of contact on the chest rig. This you can whip out in a hot minute to clear stuck casings inside your upper receiver. Which is the second most common AR platform malfunction besides user error. "Improperly seated magazines". Remember push&pull. Stay safe guys.

A “Stuck” casing is one of those rarities in which MOST will be unfortunately ill-prepared to deal with. I have a mil spec ‘segmented’ cleaning rod with only ‘4’ (of the typical 5) segments taped together TO PUSH the casing out from the muzzle. Slower to prep..but way more idiot-proof and certainty in dealing with the problem. Just stash it where it’s in an “admin pocket” on the chest or even have 2 separate ones in convenient places on a PC/ chest rig. Then there the Leatherman ‘MUT’..a specific tool FOR THAT SPECIFIC JOB. VERY spendy but hey, “buy once, cry once” applies especially to the firearms game!

I like the concept of the 16 inch barreled gun separated from the lower so that you have a longer barrel to get some ballistic advantage over a SBR yet still keeping it compact for your minute man bag. Your right you probably dont need one of these bags but I bet the folks in Ukraine didnt think they needed one and whished they would have had some of these sitting in the closet or the back of their car...

Hold the mask gently to your face without the straps with one hand and cover the air intake hole in the filter with the other. If you have a proper seal the mask will suck in on itself. If not? No Seal. Regarding army dudes and beards, if OPFOR doesn't have the capability to gas you then no need for gas masks. But again, I hate shaving and if I didn't truly believe there was a chance that Seattle might settle black glowing ash over my mountain State I wouldn't do it. Move your knife to your weak side, so if you get in a hand-to-hand situation you can put pressure on the top of your pistol to retain it, and slash with the weak hand to gain some distance between you and the assailant, so you can draw down at a manageable distance from them. Otherwise, this kit looks good!

Having your knife on the opposite side of your pistol allows the opportunity to secure secondary but also your left “weak hand” can grab the knife in a pinch for defense. My two Pennie’s

I can appreciate the rationale for not wanting to run double-mag pouches since, as you say, you cannot get as close to the ground. But think about it in this context: How often are you actually going to be exchanging gunfire while on completely flat ground where a minimalist profile is essential? If you are, don't you think you've made a tactical error? Aren't we trained to seek COVER over CONCEALMENT? That being the case, WTH are you in open ground w/o cover? And if you happen to be, shouldn't you be Shitin' and Gittin' and working to GTFOD?!? You know, SERPENTINE, Pal, SERPENTINE, as they said in the movie, Sir. And if you are behind or underneath Cover, 2X pouches are a Non-issue IMHO, comfort notwithstanding. Carrying spares in your pack is OK, I guess, but they don't make for a speedy reload, would they? So that kind of negates that option, wouldn't you agree? Then again you could carry spare ammo pouches on the exterior of your pack within reach without un-assing the pack but WTF happens if something happens and you DO have to UN-ASS the pack, like when you fall in a deep stream or a lake and it's get rid of weight or drown? Well, then all of your spare shit heads to Davey Jones' locker, doesn't it, and now you are S.O.L, FUBAR, BOHICA, and so on, eh? FWIW, I think I will stick with my 6X mags, thank you, but for everyone else, YMMV.

@@user-td1zo3tv9pBy all means do what works best for you. Everyone is different and they need to experiment to see what works best for them. I prefer most of my magazines to be on my belt. I carry 3 mags on the plate carrier and 4 on my belt to the side., if I ever need more than 8 mags I figure I have really messed up. I always go to the belt mags first as they are much faster for me to get to. When I'm prone or knelling the ones in the plate carrier are difficult to get to. Of course I reload from behind cover. I come from a USPSA and 3-gun background so I'm very fast and accurate, but I realize my short coming is the piratical knowledge of gun fighting. I have several acquaintances that are ex military , but one has a lot of first hand knowledge about gun fighting so I try to learn as much as I can from him. He started running single deep mag pouches on his plate carrier after seeing several people shot in the ass.

You sound like you’ve ran this kit at the very least on a range. I would encourage everyone to run your kits on a range also. As I make my squad do, get in the prone for extended periods of time. If you realize you can’t access anything or you can’t get in the proper position because you have too much gear in front (under) you, you should probably remove some gear from your chest and put it on your belt. As many others have said, without water your 8 mags will be useless. Good job, just train and constantly tweak. Do a 100m skull drag and see how many things you lose and reassess.

It doesn't matter how big or small the bag is, fitness never fits in it. That is stored on the person, so it's best to not be lazy in all aspects. If there's something that needs done do it. Do not stall or hesitate, it'll build a stronger character as well. As well as a Red dawn scenario the need to bug out may or not be there. That's dependant upon place of residence, and how much time you have. They will be coming, but they may not be falling upon your area. With that in mind throw your kit on, first, and carry that on your person. Throw any extras (ammo cans, spare mags/resupply, extra food etc.) in the trunk or backseat, with your bug out bag.

They have chest rigs that carry two mags each so you can have six mags on your plate carrier.

It is not always how much you fire...or as fast...you should have a plan to disengage. In such a situation you must have overwhelming force as part of a plan, just showing up for a shoot out is not a plan. I didn’t see a 20 rd mag that would allow you to get low to the ground. Good kit.

I believe in keeping in a good gas mask in your bag 🎒 because I do as well plus I keep a hazmat suit in mine too just in case. Plus it is the guy with the better accuracy that most likely wins the fight not the one who has a ton of ammo but can not hit anything. I'm on your team brother here to fight until my casket drops.

Looks like a great setup. I run a AK47/AKM platform and only run a slim carrier that holds 4 AK mags and four pistol pouches across. That way if I have to go into a prone position, I don't have that extra bulkiness rising me up. And of course my belt has a set up similar to yours with an extra rifle mag and pistol mag. AK / AKM hardly have malfunctions like an AR, so I don't carry a paint can opener like many people here lol.

The main problem I have is that it's very difficult to find tactical mag pouches for 20 round .308 mags. What I have now is some old British L1A1 mag pouches. When I got them they still had dirt on them.

filters for the respirator (gas mask) should be sealed. brand new filters are usually sealed and opened only before use. unsealed filters will still filter air when exposed and will render them useless. if the filter is lighly used, seal it again in a ziplock. i suggest get a brand new filter for your respirator.

Nice vid. Thanks for even just spit-balling ideas for everyone to consider. (Might fill a few holes in other peoples' kits.) Also glad to see a Bear Independent plug. Look, there are cheaper options without question. But, none are better. The NAR goodies inside (fantastic) are only half the story. The actual pouch is what sets it apart and if you see/use one you'll know why better than any words can explain.
