Delivering grocery back in the day. Amazing Beautiful style of building and the late. 1800s The red brick was apparently a wonderful invention of the period Beer house - you got me Castlemain is a good explore Cheers guys👍

Henry McBean really left his mark on Castlemaine. It was interesting to learn about his career, his characteristic style and his legacy in the area. It is sad that his mother didn't ever get to live in the home he was planning for her. Thanks for taking us on this fascinating look at Castlemane!

McBean was certainly a busy guy. He has really left his mark on Castlemaine. Quite a mixture of building styles. Another interesting tour guys. I will have to look back a few years and check my images of Castlemaine. We did stop off for a walk around the town some years ago. Best wishes to you both. Robert & Ivor.

Glad to hear you did get to Castlemaine, we do love getting to our Country Estate whenever we can. McBean certainly was a busy man in this town and his architecture stands out, unlike Melbourne. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you are having a great weekend. 🙏🏼🤠👍🏼

Enjoyed this one Jojo and Peter and Ruby, what a legacy of amazing architecture by the man and still in day to day use today, McBean was very productive to construct so many now iconic buildings in such a limited time, Castlemaine does look a beautiful town to live in, thanks for the tour, cheers, Steve :)

Henry was a very talented man. This was a great tour and you are so lucky to have one of his homes and I can tell you love it! My grandfather was a carpenter not as big or talented as Henry but we love driving out into our old neighborhood and show all the many homes he built over the years in the area. The cutest thing at the end of your video I paused and slowed it down because it is so adorable of the 3 of you and Ruby is smiling at the camera you can tell she had the best day! Great video love where you live it is so cute I would have to walk for coffee and beer everyday! LOL! ...Jodi

Thank you Jodie and Ron. We are lucky that we are the new Custodians. They don't build homes like they used to. There are plenty of food/coffee places in CASTLEMAINE and a couple of Breweries as well as bakeries. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for coming along. 🤠👍🏼🙏🏼♥️

They dont make houses like this nomore,they rubbish they put up now days is sad.1898 i think grocers are dying now,due to supermarkets sadly.least they have not knocked them down here there be a new block of flats.loved this with my earl grey debs xx ps did i say how much i love ruby 💎

You are right Deb, they do not build buildings like they used do. The art of craftsmanship has certainly almost died or become unaffordable. Yes the big global enterprises have killed the small businesses. What is there not to like about Ruby, she is adorable and we love her so much Deb. Us too, isn't amazing that we are the new custodians, when we first saw it I had no idea and t did not really sink in until we had a personal tour of the house with the owners daughter. When I was a brick layer, I got to build a few magnificent houses from very similar smooth heritage bricks. One in particular was a mansion for the CEO of Rothmans. Spectacular building.
