I have lived ,grown up and have roots in the Appalachia Mountains. There are many songs and ballads performed here about women that were promised marriage and then killed . Pretty Polly , The Knoxville Girl, Down In The Willow Garden , The Banks of the Ohio, Young Freda Bolt ( Im actually related to Freda Bolt ) and there are many more. Some of them were likely adopted from stories and or ballads bought over from England , Ireland , Scotland etc... Mountain people here have always have had a morbid fascination with true crime and tragedies . Mountain music and tales are just full of them. Guess its one of the things that was brought with them when they settled here hundreds of years ago.

It's a global phenomenon. That's the background behind La Llorona, too.
Can't imagine what the parents went through. William sounds like he might have left several more victims in his wake, maybe him declaring his punishment just from the gallows was subtle acknowledgement of that.
You gotta admit it's kind of hilarious how the state found a productive use to society for William after he was executed .. 😂
Your content is always respectfully done. My opinion: you are correct. True crime can be way overdone and over sensationalized, but it always has been. Penny dreadfuls were wildly popular for the same reason. True crime genre really isn't new at all. Just the platforms they are shared on.
It's said that we die twice, firstly our biological death, and secondly the last time anyone speaks our name. You are keeping these unfortunate victims alive (figuratively speaking) by telling their stories in a compassionate manner. Unfortunately history already remembers the murderers, dictators and conquerors. Someone has to speak for the victims, as Hallie Rubenhold did for the women murdered in Whitechapel in 1888, you do for others. Thank you.
I feel sorry for Maria. She had a difficult life. Thanks for another fine production.
Hey there! i love your voice and stories. thank you!
Maria's father Thomas was a "mole catcher"? Hmm. The drawing of William depicts s very creepy "gentleman". It's morbid what they did to his body postmortem but he said himself that he deserved his fate. Drawings are eerie, but captivating.
what a fantastic story Thank you
🤔 I didn't know this one, thank you!

This story is a nightmare
Nice !
It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that Corder's body was bounced around and never truly allowed to rest in peace.
pop!!
Anthropodermic Bibliopegy is a term for the practice of binding books with human skin. I reckon I'd like to be turned into a book.
Woo hoo! New Pinnso! 💃💚🦔
Well, Mariah continually makes bad choices.

Yes, poor girl never seemed to learn. But she didn't deserve to be murdered.

And the men who made those same decisions? How about the man who murdered her? Like a compass always finds north, the finger of a misogynist man will always point to the woman. Pig.
15:43 everyone wants to jump in this guy’s case for murdering this woman, but look what everyone around him was doing at the time. It’s an incredibly dark time for people. Everyone had lots of morbid curiosity, some that turned into murders.
