My uncle was a Recce. He served in Namibia, Angola and Mozambique. Also did missions in Rhodesia. He is. My hero!

I was with 101 and we would often meet up with 5 Recce up at Rundu. What a team!!! Also met the Koevoet and Zimbo's up there too. very proud of those groups. Formidable.

101 kept me fed with Rats after 3 months in bush was recce 1 . From durban. What went wrong. Now doing 3 month stints in drc Once a nutter always a nut

I've served under Major Gary Francis(Golf Fox) AT NEPARA BASE ,FOT OMAONI, what a soldier,Rsm Abie BENGELL great leaders of War.They made me get me 1 stripe:Lance Corporal in the OPS gebied(grens/bos) @ aplace card BITTERSOET,SECTOR 20 DURING 1987/1988 WHO WAS THERE WITH ME .L/CORPORAL CONNIE PRINS FROM CAPE REGIMENT

My father was a marine in the SADF in Angola and had the pleasure/nightmare of working with Recces once. He doesn't speak of what they did but he firmly assures me that those Recces are bat S**** crazy lethal machines of war. I can only imagine what they were capable of.

Recces were the unsung heroes of the Angolan War. They were the best , no doubt.

One expert stated the only difference between recces and us navy seals was that the seals had satellite uplinks. Also about the only thing our increasingly authoritarian and incompetent rulers have not messed up. Rest of defence force heading to extinction.

Yeah - there's a cool exhibition video uploaded in 2020 with the full capabilies of the army. Search for "How powerful is the South African Army" and there's an official video. Great gear and firepower. Awesome jets, helicopters and tanks! We can be proud even though we aren't fighting any wars like the 80's

During my training as a Section 2 IB at BITTERSOET the RECCE went through our training camp the RATTLESNAKES they are for what reason I don't know goes through our tents when we returns to our tents for a break.regte GV,S(GRENSVEGTERS) L/Cpl Connie Prins 84 till 89
