    I ride Honda NC700X nearly for 10 years daily and I see negative as positive: 1. The engine is not racing, but it is not weak either, thanks to that I drive it all the time without an accident. 2. It is one of the least noisy motorcycles, ideal for a quiet ride. 3. A large windshield is easy and necessary to buy, as well as foot covers and thus the problem is solved, although the new models already have a better wider shape. 4. The petrol tank is not small, as the motorcycle is very economical, compared to other older motorcycles it is up to 50 percent more economical. 5. The dash board. A driver has to monitor the traffic and not read the excess data, in simplicity I give the advantage. 6. As for the tires, the motorcycle is not off-road, and those interested can install other dimensions of tires. 7. The suspension suits me fully, it is a heavy motorcycle 240kg so its weight stabilizes it, so it does not jump on the road like a frightened mustang and flying into a road pit is not pleasant on any motorbike. 8. Two locks, one for the motorcycle and the other for the luggage compartment, I see as an advantage, as both locks are simple and therefore durable. The whole problem is easily solved with the luggage compartment permanently unlocked, and locked only during longer journeys. 9. On the contrary, the seat seems hard to me, but it suits me. An easy help is to buy a seat that suits you. When driving over 400 km long, each seat is a bit uncomfortable. 10. Belt drive might be better, I don't know, I have no experience with this kind of drive. The fact is that chain drive is a concern such as measuring flexibility, cleaning, lubrication, corrosion and adjustments. 11. Really like the look, especially the silver color of the engine, although I do not like the engine in the black of later models. There are no signs of oxidation on the entire motorcycle and engine even after 9 years. The handlebars are practical and there is room for other accessories. 12. Yes, the tourist rider must always release the rear seat when refueling, but we must not forget that the Honda NC700X has a very practical luggage compartment instead of a tank where it can fit and lock the helmet. The author of the video really sees bad things in good things, a wonderful gift.

    All good points. I think suspension strikes a very good balance between ride quality and handling. Exhaust note sounds good and even better with a pipe. Every inline 3 or 4 cylinder sounds all the same as all sport-bikes always have. Trunk is awesome. Economy is awesome. Taller windshield is mandatory on all bikes except touring or HD baggers.

    @@pcofranc I love mine, went from NC to AZ in September with it. My only complaint is the seat so I just have a beaded cover over it. I appreciate everything else you say, cause I don't have to, but everything is optimal and what ever I need to make up for what it lacks at stock, I just buy. I see too much, "It's a perfect commuter" but makes people think its restricted or classed to that, them saying, "It's not fun to ride" is beyond me hence the fact I could run 2800 miles no issue on a trip. If someone wants fun like wheelies or racing, then they need to buy a bike that fits that. Not this, this bike will do everything sport touring as expected but you can still run 60/40's but I would advise a plate underneath before doing so. ;u;

    I would agree with you. After 9 years my NC700X has been a great all around bike. I did accessorize it with a taller windscreen, lights, USB port, better seat and a few other things. That OEM seat is a killer. But, my NC700X is for sale as I bought a new NC750X recently.

I am a new rider, not small, 210 lbs. looking for good gas mileage for my commute, quiet so it doesn't wake the neighbors up at 5 am. After I get more miles under me I'm looking to get something more interesting. Hoping to pick one of these used for around $4k. Seems like there are a few out there.

    I own the 2012: #1 is the throttle spring is too soft makes it hard to modulate power. #2 I agree with the trunk and did lock my key in once so now I got a duplicate key and keep that on a second key chain. #3 Gear indicator #4 When warming up bike has issues if you let the rpm fall below 2K. Once warmed up not a problem. Shaft would be awesome and doesn't cost much or a belt.

    this guy should ride a Harley. He wants to make noise, and he wants to rev the engine. Everyone has a right to their wrong opinion Chains are better than belts. Belts are vulnerable to rocks/stones. You will never never never see a belt drive on a motocross bike because of that.A belt and a chain properly adjusted and lubed only uses about 2% of the power, or, there is only a 2% power loss with a chain or a belt. but, ask any dynamometer operator about a worn chain and sprocket‘s. They can cost up to 6 Horsepower loss having a worn chain and sprocket’s. The best shaft drives with one90° change in power flow uses about 12 to 15% power loss. shaft drive severely hampers handling and suspension compliance. You will never ever see a shaft drive on a motocross bike or on a road racing motorcycle although Laverta did produce a V6 endurance racing motorcycle back in the 70s with shaft drive.. as far is the engine not revving high, that’s because it has a long stroke which gives mostly low end and mid range grunt power.. piston speed at half stroke is the reason engines can or cannot rev high. there is a threshold in physics it’s around 4200 ft./min. that is around the maximum that street bike engines piston speeds are limited to.. A Japanese four-cylinder 250 at 19,000 RPMs with a 42 mm stroke has about the same piston speed as this Honda 700 at 7,000 rpm because of its longer stroke. That’s why Harleys can’t rev Like jap engines do.. Harleys have a longer stroke and they’re piston speed at red line is close to the same as a Japanese four-cylinder sport bike engine at redline, believe it or not. But a Harley long stroke gives stump pulling power at low RPM‘s. Japanese sport bike with a 12,000 RPM redline does not have stump pulling torque. There’s always a trade-off compromise..

    Put a slip on the exhaust mate. It's a 270 firing order. You CAN make that bike sound a lot nicer 270 mimics a V twin sound. Things like Bonneville's, MT07, RE intercepter etc have 270 parallel twins and sound awesome with a good exhaust. It's not like the Kawasaki Versus 650 with a dull 180 firing order.

    I really do wish the Honda had a belt drive and at least one more gallon in the tank. It's a wonderful bike, the gas mileage is amazing, and it looks to be built Honda tough. I can short shift like a demon so the diesel powerband would never bother me. Me and my NC could laugh at traffic together while she just plugs ahead like a freight train. I've sat on one and it looks like they measured my body to fit on it. Great seating dimensions. We will see.

  • @MrBeardedgelfling
    @MrBeardedgelfling Жыл бұрын

    Dude it's a commuter bike, seems like all your negatives seem to be that it's not a very good adv/tour bike. It's NOT an adv bike it was never made to be one. It's a commuter bike. Sure you can tour it, you could tour on any bike if you really want to, but it's not made to fill that role as it's primary use. Also 19 inch will make no difference on gravel that's all about tire choice - as in type of rubber you have on it. Gravel is not going to give any wheel issues even 17 inch if you have the right rubber on it.

    I mean yeah youre right, but also not really. 1) The engine may have 55hp but it pulls 70Nm. There are videos showing how the NC rips middle class Mercedes. Unluss you're competing against other motorcycle with more hp, then i support you, you will get blasted. 2) I 100% disagree on low quality. Honda is especially known to be very very well made. "Heavy but strong" that describes every honda, that's what theyre known for. I hear this the first time ever, thats how good they are. 3) Range. I read people manage 2,5l (bit less than a gallon) so the small tank is no problem. You can expect 3,5l if you ride normal in the city without trying to safe gas. Just a few things i had to say. The rest is personal preference really, accept the compartment thing, you have to be stupid to lock your keys inside your too right?
