I have trouble believing that you do not understand why you got cross-wise with Elite. They are a platform for comic book sales. When you go around them and directly communicate with the seller, you could be colluding with the seller to defraud them. Perhaps you were, perhaps you weren’t, but that is how a company like this protects themselves. Have you ever wondered why eBay does not allow us to directly talk to the sellers outside their platform? It’s for the exact same reason.

I agree with Elite on this, you don't like how we do business, cool. You break our protocol, then you won't buy/sell from us. The funny part he got mad cause the info wasn't fast enough on a company he already did business with and then turn around and burn that bridge with what he believes bad business practice to getting someone else to buy a book he wants....lol!

You make some good points but they have rules and reason for the rules. They don’t want people contacting the sellers and some of the sellers probably don’t want to be contacted. And what’s to stop you from asking if they have any other books from seller and they sell directly to you cutting out Elite comics. So after talking to you they figure you just are trouble and the easiest non confrontational thing to do is just block you. So yeah you might be trouble. But I still love you. I bought via Elite Comics for the First time last year, I was nervous about using at first but I spoke to a few people who vouched for them. They have a good reputation and I think every seller is vetted/trusted. I was really happy with the service. Sucks you’ve been restricted from commenting and contacting them. Great video again.

They would definitely pay out thirty grand they stand by their guarantee but that would never have to happen because every seller on their page has to go through a process to become a seller they don’t just let anyone sell on their page like eBay. It’s only trusted sellers on elite

Customers like you are the reason why employees wont go back to retail. The entitled customer. Waaaaa! Didnt get his tracking number in a day. Ebay gives the seller 3-5 days. Have some patience.

First, don’t be so sensitive about things and stop going in a negative direction before you understand. Elite Comics 11 is one of the most if not the most standup people to deal with in this hobby and they absolutely stand by the 100% Guarantee no matter what the price! If you know Elite or Ali then you know that and that’s why they are as big as they are. Granted there can be some things missed and little frustrations and/or suggestions for improvements but if you understand the volume they do or just the amount of constant chatter going on for them, things do get missed. But make no mistake, they will take care of ANYTHING you ask them to and throwing any shade at them isn’t going to look good for you!

Well, you asked for it so I call you the fool for continuing to do business with them. If you don't like their business model or policies, then stop using them. But you just can't help yourself, can you? By the way, they are no different than ebay when it comes to contacting sellers directly. They told you not to contact sellers directly, but you do it anyway because you feel entitled. What's more, you are knowingly violating Paypal's policies by using friends and family to pay for items that are clearly for goods and services. You know, Paypal is not in the business of providing financial services to you for free. Finally, you worry about Elite not backing its guaranty, but nonetheless you use Paypal F&F which does not cover you (while using goods and service gives you some coverage.) You make no logical sense.

Thanks for sharing. I can agree with some of your reasoning in wanting protection for when you are purchasing books(PayPal Goods and Services) and also wanting tracking info. The only thing for me I don't agree with is going back to them to buy books. If you feel insecure with purchasing through them , then don't. I've never purchased from them, but I would ask them if I can do the purchases via Goods and Service(and even offer to pay PayPal's fee) just so that I can have that piece of mind. Overall Sorry you had to go through this. Cheers!

Most of the sellers I've bought from there give the option of Goods and Services if you pay the 3 percent fee on top.

You really shouldn't be paying for higher priced items with friends and family. You get no protection and help many individuals evade taxes on with money you probably were taxed on when you earned it. Not necessarily everyone does that, but a lot do

This isn't some "random" on the internet. Elite is well known in the comic community and backed by the owner if any issues on the comic transactions. I've done over 100+ F&F transactions with them, all good.

That should not matter! Unless you 100% know the person you are sending funds to you should never ever send F&F paypal. Because you are not protected if something goes wrong. Even the best intentions can go wrong from time to time!​@@CinemaRediscovered

Yeah the seller should be sending you a tracking number right away when they get the number....there is no excuse for not doing that. If they are sending a shity pic of it they should also be typing the number into the msg. There is no amount of busy that should prevent them from doing that. If they would have sent me an unreadable number I would have just msged them back and said " The number is un-readable could you type it in and send it or take a close up pic of it, Thank You" Then if they blow you off that could opening up the option to contact the seller direct hahah

I wonder if Elite pays taxes on all those comissions? Asking you to use pp f&f is very shady and you should never do it. Also, instead of Elite telling you to pay the seller and telling the seller to send you the book, they should collect the payment and after you receive the book they should pay the seller. Sounds like a lousy shady business model and you should be thankful they banned you before you live to regret it.

That's a great question doc. Great point you make. It surprises me That a channel that only serves as a broker doesn't actually collect any of the payment on said sales and asks the buyer to pay the individual who owns the book with PayPal, friends and family. If the broker doesn't actually sell anything but acts as the middleman during the entire transaction, why is the buyer contacting the actual owner to pay for said book? It makes it seem like you said that they aren't paying their fair share in taxes. Probably something I should make a video on following up.

You have every right to ask these questions. If Elite 11 has an issue with it, then maybe they should do a better job of making sure this information is made available to the buyer within a reasonable amount of time.

I don't understand the non-nefarious reason people sell through a consignment broker. I seems like they are just trying to get out of paying taxes. If they sell it on eBay, there's a tax record.

It is perfectly understandable that they don't want you to communicate with the seller directly but they completely bypass addressing the reason why you felt the need to do so. They are apprently doing so well in sales they don't feel the need to do basic customer service like provide clear tracking information in a timely manner.

I think you were in the wrong and should have just realized that. Can’t back door a broker and communicate directly with the seller/customer. But I agree with you 100% that they are not guaranteeing a 20k book. They would lose their revenue of half a year or a year’s worth doing that. I trust they would do right for a $400 book but no way they will be backing a $20k book.

I think all your concerns are valid and I can appreciate where you are coming from, totally. The bit I don't understand is why you would buy from them then? If you don't trust their guarantee or the process (once again understandable) don't use their service. Their response was fair enough I think and if I were to guess I would say they think the small cut they make from a sale isn't worth the extra time your business causes them. Which again is fair and their right.

I've bought 60 to 80 books from elite some were many thousands of dollars both off their page and during their live sales. Never had a problem sending the payment via PayPal. They tell you the exact address to send it to, how is that bad or hard? Plus all purchases are guaranteed. I do agree though that they don't send tracking numbers reliably and I've had to ask for a tracking number repeatedly before. It's still my fav place to buy books though and the live sales are so much fun

Thanks for sharing. Use a credit card for F&F: you still have protection. And I can see both sides here. Elites big weakness is their inability to keep in constant communication as they grow. They need to remedy that. as Both the buyer and seller are their customers as someone who has used them for buying & selling. I'm curious about their protection: have they have refunded a customer the full amount for a book that was never received or a scam transaction?

Their guarantee is that they work with trustworthy people. I guarantee a hint of shady business from any vendor gets them cut from the channel. I have always gotten my tracking number within 2 to 3 days of payment. Probably when they box up the orders for the mail. If you're uncomfortable paying F and F, politely explain you want the security of an insured transaction. But I have never heard anyone getting screwed by one of the Elite vendors. I had two books with undisclosed color touch one time, and the seller took care of the return and refund without me even having to get Elite involved.

Cool. My comment has never been featured in a youtube video before. If I ever felt mistreated at a business I would not shop there. I don't care how god the deal is. Every time I look at the item I'm going to have bad memories.

@@o13ss If the seller has a policy with Collectible Insurance (CIS) and sends EITHER via FedEx with Direct Signature Guaranteed or USPS Registered Mail then the seller is covered through their CIS policy. Having a policy with CIS eliminates the need to purchase insurance on a per shipment basis through USPS or FedEx.

I'll NEVER send over 20 bucks as friends & family unless I personally know the seller. Sellees trying to bypass taxes are unprofessional af n need to grow up

Sounds like a misunderstanding to me, but who knows? I know they get a ton of messages so I wouldn't necessarily say you've been shadowbanned. Have you tried claiming something on a live sale? I think that would be your indicator. That being said, all of these claim sales using F&F paypal with no tracking are horrible. I don't mind the claim sales, but can these people use some kind of invoicing system that integrates tracking? They're not hard to integrate with paypal. For the amount of volume these guys do you think it'd be a no-brainer and would save them from having to spend so much time on communication.

I know some folks that sell on Elite live Instagram sales. My experience being there is that whoever is the host introduces the seller, goes over shipping prices/rules and pins the seller's instagram name at the beginning of the sale. Elite has always said to DM the seller if you won claims to get your invoice and so that the seller can get shipping info. The sellers that I know are definitely paying taxes on their sales. If the Paypal account is a business account, it doesn't allow Friends & Family. Hate that you had a bad experience. It's a fun platform to get some great deals on books.

So let me break it down for those not able to read between the lines and see either of your intentions... you go behind the middle-mans back and try to establish a relationship with the seller under the guise of finding out tracking info, but the real reason is to cut the broker out of the equation and pay less for the product. Then the broker finds out and uses the excuse that you should only correspond with them to insure their guarantee, but in reality they just want to remain the middle man and get their money and not have you being a sneaky goose and going behind their backs to get the products they introduced you too.

I have to say that your investigation of finding people without using the site is too much man. If your having trouble trusting a site then you shouldn’t use them! They should understand, it's a common concern, and while you wait around for an update, you could be getting screwed and the clock is ticking on protect from PayPal or other payment systems. Not only that, but you could be missing out on another similar book.

Thier rules are clear and reasonable and they went out of their way to explain to you their rationale. Why are you surprised at your difficulties? You acknowledge Elite's stature and admit to purchasing from them multiple times due to their good reputation, guarantee and prices. So the purpose of questioning their guarantee is to do what, seems like you are only giving them support, hence your various purchases! Furthermore, as you said you even had your wife claim from them! Responsibility: You suggest taking responsibility by verifying information before making a purchase, highlighting the importance of due diligence, but why don’t you accept responsibility to the fact that if you are uncertain information is good, why don’t you follow up with questions. Perhaps a screenshot to double check the seller in question. Seller's Perspective: Have you considered the possibility that sellers might use a consignor to avoid dealing with the public, indicating a different viewpoint. Your complaint about finding the seller and following up is exactly why people use a third party. Furthermore, it’s creepy! Respect and Procedures: You argue that Elite's responses were unwarranted, but the reality based on what you showed is that they were reasonable attempts to clarify policies. You are purchasing via their service and should respect procedures. Not whine about it!
