All my tunnels are 10K blocks long and if not I always come back to finish them. But believe what you want I guess. You can try it if you want too. Mine 10K blocks at Y15 and see how much ancient debris you get at the end of it. I guarantee you get at least 1 stack but you'll most likely get over one stack. Not under. The BEST way to do it is to mine a long tunnel on a chunk border then fill it with tnt (or one block apart) you get the stuff from the mining and the tnt chain. This is best period. Not necessarily the cheapest but the most efficient. Mining on a chunk border might not be necessary but when the tnt goes off it will expose part of each chunk, which using common sense will possibly have more debris.

I’m glad you said mining is still a valid way to do it. I find explosions so scary and hate dealing with them. Also (as you said) mining is just so much more fun to me because I can listen to audiobooks or toycat videos while I do it :) I’m sick of people judging me for not wanting to blow up my nether to look for ancient debris so thanks for not being one of those people. Explosions would need my full attention because I find them stressful. Plus XP is basically free and beds take up a lot of inventory space because they don’t stack. Also I hate automation in minecraft most of the time because it means I didn’t actually do the work for the thing if that makes any sense (plus redstone is mega confusing). In other words, mining is great for me (but if I’m ever exploding things in creative again sounds like end crystals are the way to go) Love your videos :)

I decided about a month ago to start a giant build project in the nether that included digging a 100 by 100 cylinder from the bedrock floor to the bedrock ceiling. Which now I realize was a terrible idea but I'm still working on it. I've got all the way from the roof down to 23 blocks down to go. So far I've filled 3 double chests with netherrack full shulker boxes, 2 shulker boxes with nethergold, 3 with netherquartz and 53 pieces of ancient debris. Some of the blocks have been lost as I have 2 shulker boxes full of wool in my bed blasting and used gold to make lots of boots to stop the piglins from attacking me. A lot of my time has been spent watching your older videos while slowly working away at this. Oh yes and I'm doing this all on my phone so digging is sometimes a bit janky.

As far as bedrock edition goes, because there are no giant lava pockets, strip mining is my go to. If you have mending on your pick you won't ever run out of duribility thanks to the netherquartz, and you don't need to worry about resources at all. You also don't need to deal with fire everywhere. Might be just me but it seems to take less time to use a pick than get and use beds.

Tnt is the most efficient method from my experience. It chains ok if you space it out 2 blocks apart, dig a long tunnel at Y15 and then run back placing tnt then ignite when you get back to the start again. Creeper or ghast farms are pretty easy to set up, you just need a bunch of sand at that point. End crystals chain insanely well and will auto destruct for hundreds of blocks if spaced correctly(Y12 9 blocks apart) but the extra obsidian placement does make them a bit of a pain. But late game they are very satisfying to play around with. Beds work for sure, but Greg make so much mess and lots of fire causes lag on low end devices. So whilst they are fine to use early game to get your first couple of debris, I’d honestly rather strip mine for the stuff.

So I think beds work best for short-term, quick grinding, but TNT works better as a long-term method as you can farm both creepers and sand and while yes the farms take effort to set up once you set them up it's as easy as afking the farms to get as many resources as you need, then just making a line of TNT and blowing it up in succession.

If you are able to set up a Creeper Farm for gunpowder, then the TNT method is by far the best. Less risk of taking any dmg, not as much fire as a bed exploding, and can chain explosives every 4th block of TNT placed, and can be activated with any redstone triggers from afar. I usually Dig in a straight line till I can't go any further. Then I dig out long tunnels left and right. skipping every 2 blocks and digging straight till i can't go any further. Placing TNT in every alley, and hoping your PC doesn't explode, Watch the fire works. Literally. I make a portal inside, grab a couple of fire resist potions, at least 10 empty buckets, and some scaffolds to reach the lava-fall. with such a wide open area, you can easily pick apart the Netherite, Gold ores, and Quartz as you see fit. If you are picky like me, you can plug up some lava holes as some netherite might be buried underneath that lava.

I strip mine with tnt. You dig a 2 tall tunnel then drop a stack of tnt on your way back to the start. Ignite a chain reaction, build a 1 block bridge at 15 to help avoid and clear lava. Then move over and do parallel tunnels and the tnt will connect the tunnels which lets you easily fly around later. I went crazy and made about a dozen full sets of netherite armor and tools.

For me, it has to be TNT. The primary readons for getting it once you have the capacities like a creeper farm and a large desert with a good shovel, you have as much as you want AND you can stack TNT to 64. You can chain TNT while runnung down hallways with a flint and steel. With beds, sure you can have sheep farms but the wool is manual and you cant obtain it super fast, as for end crystals, its gard to farm for ghasts and you still have to gather obsidian. TNT is the way to go.

If you are going to mine for netherite with a pickaxe you should do it at a chunk border and do it in a 2x2 tunnel cuz of the way it spawns in chunks etc

I mine 500 blocks straight, then back out with beds. And do that over and over and over. I did a stack of beds once and got a stack of ancient debris in return. That was my best haul ever. Found 2 nodes of 6 each which im fairly certain is the max amount per chunk.

I do T style branch mines i mine for 100 blocks or so turn around then mine the blocks in my face for my full reach then if you get the right angle you can run along the wall and clear out the whole area downfall is lava is a bit harder to patch but if ya find lava immediately mine a block below it to prevent the flow

To be clear, you actually increase your chances of finding ancient debris by focusing your searches UNDER the lava ocean where there are the least blocks between the ocean and the ceiling. Ancient debris can't have air contact meaning that it must spawn either above the ceiling or under the lava ocean. Fire resistance potions are highly recommended because sometimes to need to take a warm dip. Pick chunks with huge chasms in between the ceiling and ocean. Note that you can see which biome you are in (in java) and if you are in a crimson forest Hoglins will spawn in your Mines. Oh and avoid basalt wastes because the blocks there are more blast resistant.

I don't get why mining at 15 is best but then it's a good thing that blowing a bed or TNT gives you levels above and below that. Surely a 8x8x8 hole means that 3/4 of the blocks revealed to air are at suboptimal levels. If i mine a 2x1 tunnel, then each block forward reveals 6 blocks to the air and mines two blocks, all at the optimal level. Seems a lot more efficient than fiddling around with crafting beds or TNT. With an unbreaking, mending, efficiency pickaxe you just dig, seems pretty simple to me

I just place a single piece of obsidian or a blast resistant block in front of me when I'm at range to trigger the bed explosion. You take maybe half a heart every time and don't wear down your armor.

Mostly I'll dig in a straight line. Beds are messy, and I don't like wasting gunpowder on tnt. Plus, when you open-up large areas, it gives mobs room to spawn. Nothing more annoying than accidentally looking at an Enderman that you couldn't see through the fire. It's not that I don't use beds or tnt at all. Sometimes I will use them to open things up on my way back to my portal if I'm in the mood to do so. I've also stopped using chests in the Nether, and have gone to storing things in Droppers instead.

TNT is lovely because no 🔥 just build a 1 block bridge parallel to the top of your tnt tunnel that you’ve blown up and fill in the lava and get all the ancient debris as you go that you’re able then just run back home on the floor and if you go 500 blocks you’ve covered all your tools and armor and probably some other stuff (hope we can trade maybe 10 netherite and so many emeralds for a horse armor.

Yea, but no fire means you gotta manually light up the holes to prevent ghasts from spawning. I find it simpler to just bridge over the holes anyway; it makes you remain at Y=15, makes you avoid the fires, and allows you to travel back much more quickly. And there's plenty of netherrack around to build with.
