Real fascinating. But another reason for Wilbert's story, as The Unlucky Tug pointed out, is Thomas' buffer beams on both sides being uneven, so he wanted the illustrators to fix that by making this story of Thomas needing to have his front mended, which means his front buffer beam is no longer slanted and is aligned with the back.

On second thought maybe he shouldn’t have redesigned his front because he just stands out more and the Jinty like running board just looked cursed.

I'd imagine the station master would actually say that at 1:56 if the censors weren't involved. XD

Very nice inspiration, this story has always been one of my most favourite episodes and stories since I loved it's message, the effect of Thomas crashing into the house, the Stationmaster's wife shouting and the Scottish twins pulling him back to reveal how messy Thomas was on his front

I can never find another episode from Season 2 that I would say is the best of all twenty six of them because "Thomas Comes to Breakfast" has it all.

Funny how one noticed there was no man in the cab when Cliftonville was moving. And that George Carlin swearing was perfect. Well done. 😅

It being referred to as a "Thomas book" is interesting. I assume it's because he's featured, but him getting special attention before the show is still odd to see.

In the Railway Series story of which this episode is based on, Thomas crashed into the stationmaster's house as a result of a siding ending on the road having no buffers to stop him, causing him to run off the rails and onto the road until he reached the house. Since the models are powered by electrified rails, Thomas' line extends across the road to get him closer to the house. However, the Ladybird and Buzz Book adaptations of this episode use the original Railway Series dialogue.

I knew you were going to make the true story of "Thomas comes to breakfast"... :) But Trainboy has already beaten you with the same video 4 years ago of the same name but the real story was different as it had a different engine than the one that was shown here. What if you do the true stories of "Steamroller", "Percy's Promise", "Percy's Predicament", and "Stop Thief" next?

@@jambrainzstudios5553 I mean sorry. :P I was rewatching Trainboy's video to know what year he uploaded his video. It seems like this RWS story has 2 true stories like how "Percy runs away", "The Flying Kipper" and "Down the mine" did.

@@supremesatprivatelimited8117Christopher Awdry did the same thing to for "Old Stuck-up", "Rabbits", and "Sir Handel comes home". I've only seen 2 S5 episodes having true stories that are outside of the RWS when The Model Era started with Britt Alcroft and many others to have their own ideas and anodotes. "James and the trouble with trees" and "A better view for Gordon". The movie "Hugo" also plays the same real life crash that Gordon had.
