Thomas Tuchel will go down as one of if not my favorite Chelsea manager for his achievements. I will always support Chelsea and for the sake of understanding and believing in the vision of our new owners, I've tried to see this sacking from the eyes of that vision. As much as I think Tuchel is heavily unfortunate to go this early, I hope this video gives a bit more of the side as to why the club have made this call... thoughts appreciated as ever in the comments!

What I loved about Tuchel was the way he utilized 2 wing backs, what about the new tactics, will we be as aggressive? Gurdiola an klop were given a chance to let there projects unfold, we need a man who can be a given a chance to unfold an flourish. I never gave mangers there props or realized how important they are, to the players that come, to the players that leave, to the mentality, only time will tell whether this decision is a good one or not.

I think it’s really just down to the fact that he’s lost his head in recent times, he’s been sent off and relegated to the stands for a game and just got booked again against Zagreb it’s just a fact that Tuchel looked uncomfortable in his situation at the moment and wasn’t providing good enough solutions especially in the midfield. People are quick to say Boehly doesn’t understand football but it’s a transition year for us and I think Tuchel was bound to go at some point in the near future to open the door for whoever boehly decides to be our long term manager

supporting the manager through the entire transfer window and then sacking him 6-7 games into the season even before he got the chance to adjust the new signings seems so absurd. now the new manager whoever comes will have to adjust and form his own formation, which in my opinion take longer than what tuchel would have taken. lets pray and hope all works out in favour of the club.

When you look back, Tuchel has faced this exact same fate at the other clubs he’s managed. He impresses everyone in his first season, but then the form drops in the second season, then he loses the dressing room and falls out with the owners, then he gets sacked. I think this is just history repeating itself for Tuchel and we probably should’ve seen this coming. But nevertheless, we should all be grateful for everything Tuchel has done for our club. One thing for those who are saying Boehly isn't in this for the long haul. In the US he owns 4 different sports franchises. He owns the LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, LA Spark (WNBA for those who don't recognize the team) and Cloud9 (esports franchise). He also was part of a group looking into purchasing a team in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League). This is a man who enjoys owning teams and wants to win. His decisions regarding Chelsea are definitely going to have the same basis. He will look to make the team more valuable, but part of that is through winning.

Lets say Potter comes in now, what if he says i dont like player A, player B and then he ends up losing the dressing room and we repeat the same old cycle of sacking managers. I'm a life long blues supporter, an absolutely loved Tuchel. BUT, enough is enough his systemic style is made for a team with average players(order takers) . There is no freedom to express your natural talents. Take Havertz for instance, he has been turned in a robot that constantly passes backwards and has no freedom or space to express his genius. So what happens, his value plummets... I could go on with every player in the side barring Reece maybe. Our boys need to be given the freedom to play to their strengths in our formation. I believe Potter will unlock the creativity again.

If you go back to Tuchel's first game in charge, and then you add up every open-play goal scored by an attacker or midfielder during his tenure, you get approximately 87 goals in about 98 games (I think my figures are off slightly, but they are very close. I think this may also be a bit generous because I probably missed the odd corner or set piece, so the total is likely slightly worse). This is an appalling number no matter how you slice it. We should be averaging more like 1.3-1.8 GPG from our attack, not 0.9. And this lack of attacking goals has been going on from day one. Any decent manager would've looked at the numbers, thrown his notes out the window, and said, "This clearly isn't working the way I'd hoped. I'm going to scrap the current tactical setup and rebuild it from the ground up. And the first thing I'm going to do is make sure our best players are deployed in roles and positions they feel comfortable playing in." Tuchel refused to do this, and because of this he lost the trust of at least some of the players (Lukaku last season for sure). Once that's gone, there is no way back. The second problem is that it appears clubs have figured out how to break us down. Without the clean sheets, and with the aforementioned lack of goals, we were headed for a midtable finish. These finance guys are ruthless, perhaps even more ruthless than RA when it comes to expecting results. And I'm very happy for it. I disliked Tuchel's system from the start and I'm glad he's gone. Onward to a new day.

It's actually very simple: over the past 12-15 months no one's gotten more out of his talent than Potter, while no one's gotten less than Tuchel, so it makes sense to match the proficiency in this regard with the talent, especially for Boehly critics that forget he signed several young players to long term contracts. It's not just unattractive football, it's increasingly stale and ineffective football, as Tuchel is not a coach, but more of a theoretician. Only a perfectly molded squad of robots could make good in his system, so what seemed like poor 'attitude' is actually well-founded player doubt in their leader. Watch that change fast with the inventive Potter.

I 100% agree. There is enough talent on this team to be way better than what they are. Some are blaming the players, but imo, most if these players who are not performing have in the past under different coaches and different tactics. I think the attack and defense will improve with a coach who is way less prideful and actually has offensive tactics.

I hope TT learns something from this situation. He has the talent to be THE TOP manager in the world, but he needs a solid offensive minded assistant to help him break down the back line of defenses. There was zero plan on how to do this. Its not in his wheelhouse and he needs some outside input in this area.

This is my breakdown of top 10 reasons TT got sacked: 1. Worst home form of any chelsea manager in the abromavich era 2. Sold tomori, geuhi, livemento, all young CBs for nothing saying they were not good enough...they've all gone on to become mainstays in the epl and serie a..tomori won the scudetto...guehi got England callup 3. Sold Tammy for 40mm and pushed the board to get him a striker...spent 100mm on Lukaku and wasn't able to integrate him into the offense ...Tammy meanwhile is lighting up in serie a 4. Refused to play a top young talent in Broja saying he needed a more seasoned striker...went and got Auba at 33 years old.i think he was lining to get Broja sold 5. Bought fofana (75mm), koulibaly (35mm), cucurella (60mm) and despite having Levi Colwill (top recruited left footed defender) and chalobah (how much exists in quality difference between chalobah and fofana...in my opinion they are the same) 6. His offense had become too rigid...how do you have a whole team playing with people out of position ...continued trying to play pulisic, odoi, ziyech as wingbacks when they are true out and out wingers...plays mount, Gallagher in the midfield pivot when they not suited, plays havertz , pulisic, sterling at 9 when they are not suited 7. Spent 260mm on players but style of play regressed immensely...actually since December our win percentage has to be one of the lowest in the league 8. Lost to dynamo Zagreb a team that spent 5mm this off season whilst he spent 260mm 9. Was great at cup competitions having reached almost every final for all the cups he participated in but seems not to have been able to maintain a team's focus for a full season...wheels fell off in December and already this season we were seeing the same 10. Continues to play out of form play like azpi, jorginho, mount, havertz despite having other options on the bench...new ownership spent on young talent like chukwuemeka, casadei, slonina but no path for these players to play under TT...I think this is what timstely did him in, having massive youth talent but not knowing hoe to use it or integrating the youths into the team...being open to selling Broja to westham was another crime he wanted to commit.... FT comments here just my thoughts

Mat Law was talking on TalkSport radio few hours ago and he said there is nothing to do with loosing yesterday's game or playing style. In normal circumstances Tuchel would be given time to work with new players and improve performances. Problems between new owners and manager started in the summer when Boehly expected Tuchel to be more involved in busines and promoting club what Tuchel disagreed with. Owners decided to sack manager as soon as they possibly can. Most idiotic reason Mat Law said, why Boehly let Tuchel to stay and sign new players- it is because Tuchel was only one person in the club who have football knowledge and can give any advice about the game. After kicking out Marina, Buck, Petr Čech and others, Boehly found himself depending on the couch who prefer to couch instead of dealing with transfer market. Chelsea contacted Brighton less than hour after sacking Tuchel and asked for permission to talk to Potter. Permission was granted later in the afternoon. There is buy out close in Potter's contract and Brighton not going to stand in their managers way if he wants to go.

It's a really fine line, if they keep TT and it continues to get worse then fans criticize them for keeping him too long and putting them out of possibly a top 4 place. The decision is fine I believe Chelsea has been struggling for some time now, not just this season, unrest with players, and everyone hoping TT evolves with his tactics, and he hasn't. It seems like there's quite a bit going on behind the scenes that led to this, all everyone can do now is hope the next person in charge can bring this group back together, and can help motivate them.

According to the daily telegraph Todd wanted a manager that would be involved with the owners and transfers that the owners could bounce ideas off. But TT preferred to work by himself and didn’t want to be involved. He constantly bemoaned the leaving of Petr Czech who did a lot of the non coaching work. So Todd had already decided that TT was not the man to push the club forward and with poor results as well it was an easy decision. But the decision was not fundamentally made on results but on the character of TT not being a good fit for the owners.

I may only speak for myself here, but with Tuchel I feel as though we had found our long term manager, like how klopp and pep are becoming. His connection with the fans, his early success at the club, I think it was difficult for him to keep that up and it was as if it was permanently expected from him to always bring in the best results. Football is a harsh game, but in my eyes this decision was FAR too early and I think he knew his time was coming in his interview a couple of days ago where he wished to stay for "hundreds and more hundreds" of games, like many of his other speeches he says things but doesn't give away too much information, could just be me though. and lets not talk about the disrespect shown towards him, especially through the times we needed him most and to perform well, through the sanctions, uncertainty, he was there sticking with the club where any other manager would have walked away. I feel like this chelsea squad will be broken without him, but I do hope we see him in blue again.

For those criticizing this decision, what was the ownership supposed to do? The team hasn't been CONSISTENTLY good for over a year. Does the ownership fire all the players who are underperforming? Or do they get rid of the coach who blames everyone but himself when he loses and sticks to his stale tactics? It's an easy choice. Tuchel has had enough time. Chelsea stumbled into the top 4 last season. Arsenal and Spurs look like they will be competitive for top 4 and I doubt Man City and Liverpool will continue to struggle. Many Midtable teams are giving top 4 teams tough games. And if Man U goes on a run, Chelsea are in deep trouble. This was the best decision before the international break and World Cup. Give a new manager time to plan for January transfers. Say your thank you's and goodbyes to Thomas Tuchel

On point 5. Tuchel pushing the sale of Billy when Boehly didnt want to sell him was Tuchel pushing his "Trust me" chip across the table. It forced Boehly & Co to analyse whether they really did trust him with their long term vision which is clearly focused toward bringing up young and high potential players like Billy Gilmour. That moment was when I and many others including pundits were murmuring. Even George said it in stream "If Tuchels still around then" and questioning the Billy sale. We've seen Tammy pushed out. Guehi sold. Billy sold. CHO pushed out on loan. Pulisic being wasted. Trev seemingly in line to be next to get pushed put. On it goes. Tuchel hasnt been good to the young players. The only ones he really had to stick with were Mount and Reece because he had no choice.

Watching this today after Chelsea have inexplicably fired Tuchel is SO BIZARRE! He has won Chelsea a Champion's League, kept them in the top 4 with no indications he'd drop out of it and in just the last 6 months he has taken Chelsea to the Carabao Cup Final AND the FA Cup Final losing both on Penalties (which everybody knows is the same as the flip of a coin) against Liverpool who were the best team in the world during 21/22! And as of his firing he's only 5 points off the top of the EPL Table after an incredibly messy last year in the Management/Business Side of Chelsea where he had to take over multiple responsibilities that normally the Manager would never have to go near but he did anyway because that's the kind of hard working, relentless manager he is. Oh and Chelsea JUST moved out OVER A DOZEN PLAYERS IN ONE WINDOW and then BROUGHT IN a Quarter of a Billion POUNDS! Not Euros or Dollars POUNDS! On LITERALLY A DOZEN NEW PLAYERS who will ALL need to be bedded in to the team and assessed and experimented with to see who works best in what positions, who has the best chemistry and what combinations work against specific opposition setups & players, etc, etc, which is JUST in itself without ANY DOUBT the BIGGEST undertaking EVER by a Manager in a Single Transfer Window by a Top 6 EPL Team who has been and is expecting to continue to contend in every competition. And the new regime in charge of Chelsea decided that after JUST 6 games into the new season, with all these new players which one can only assume were picked and chosen BY TUCHEL to play in HIS VERY UNIQUE STYLE, in which Chelsea had shown various Highs and Lows as one would expect from literally every manager ever whether they were Tuchel, Ferguson or Cruyff. That SOMEHOW a sample size of 6 games was in the minds of the New Regime MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME for Tuchel to have sorted things out and to be winning every game convincingly from here on out... And so Tuchel having failed to deliver the results they are absurdly demanding of him they have chosen to FIRE a Manager who is at his best a Top 5 Manager in World Football! An EXTRAORDINARILY VALUABLE COMMODITY that in the past 15 or so years in particular we have learned has a greater impact on a teams chances of winning than even a Ballon d'Or Winner! And Chelsea KNOWING THIS, AND knowing they just spent £250m on Players that, again, were presumably picked by and for Tuchel and his play style, have FIRED a Top 5 Manager in World Football AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CONFIRMED REPLACEMENT WHEN THEY DID IT!!! THEY'RE F"C£ING WINGING IT! Only NOW have discussions with Brighton's Manager Graham Potter taken place and has he been confirmed for the job... You heard that right, they fired a Top 5 Manager in World Football, a guy 95% of all teams would KILL to get, ESPECIALLY with ALL of his VERY RECENT successes with Chelsea FC and after conducting a short search they have decided to replace him with Graham Potter from Brighton. A Top 10 Premier League Manager... Pure Lunacy. I don't think it's crazy to say they might miss out on the Top 4 as a result of letting go of Tuchel.

As much as i respect TT for UCL win i realy don't understand why some people are backing him up in here right now. He had 1,5 yr to build working tactical system but never managed to do so. Some will say "but he never had resources to execute his vision" WRONG. He never had a vision how to use resources under his hands. Got Lukaku, couldn't build system that would support striker. Had wingers, always forced them to play out of position because he wants 3 4 2 1 with two CAMs. Had a world class wing back/full back, used him as CB... Another manager with inability to change his vision of foobtall to elevate full potential of players under his hands, just because he's to stubborn to admit that his ideas aren't working. There was a time when our defence looked organised etc., but there never was a longer moment in which i was sure that this team plays with some well worked out offensive playing style...

Boehly lets Tuchel spend 253m then sacks him! If that doesn't worry Chelsea fans it must only because they're used to Chelsea sacking successful managers who won't worship the owner. Boehly as Sporting Director must be another factor for Chelsea fans. Shades of Woodward at Man Utd, and that's good for everyone else!

I’m also a fan of TT however I’m a bigger fan of Chelsea and winning is a must for us because we need the revenue, our ground only holds 42,000. Needs to be 60,000+ or CL every year.

I said this 4 seasons ago, Chelsea do not believe in long term manager way back since Gullit time lol. Contract clause signed by manager is to win trophies within 2 seasons. If win = Get big payout and have an option to stay within 2 more seasons to win, if not = Out you go with a small payout. If win nothing or run of bad results = Get small payout and out you go at once. Fair for both manager and the club, Simple!

I think the way he viewed young players had a lot to do with it. It's not sustainable to keep buying players after they've made it for a high price. It's better instead to be the best at developing them and keeping them. You'll have misses along the way, but that's okay. Then you'll be in good position to occasionally spend big on a piece that makes a big difference. I don't think we've talked enough about all the young players Todd has signed this window. When you add to that we got rid of Levi and Billy, and almost Broja as well, I'm sure that doesn't sit well with Todd. The Dodgers spend a ton of money, but they also have one of the best development pipelines in MLB. He'll want to replicate that here.

When we lost to Southampton I was sure there was a problem with not just the squad but Manager. It could only get worse. Much as I love Tuchel, it was the right decision to let go because the way we play since winning club world cup says it all. Whenever Chelsea stepped on the pitch they didn't look like a team ready to create let alone score a goal.

I think the main reason why Tuchel was sacked is because he could not adapt to the opponent strategy during the game. For example, if his tactics worked from the beginning, then cool, we play amazing the whole game. However, as soon as the opponent countered the Tuchel tactic, he never made any adaptation, I think the could not read the game the right way, since he never really showed the capability of doing it. So to sum up, I think this is a good change, his starting line ups were hilarious nowday and also not adapting in game is not acceptable at this level.

I am crying for Billy Gilmour who is going to be our next Kevin De Bruyne. Why they didn't put a buyback clause in his contract? If only Thomas Tuchel didn't have these problems with youth development. Look at Tammy Abraham, he scored 15 Goals (without taking penalties) and he sold him so as to buy Lukaku. The same with Tomori and Zuma. Why sell these 2 players? Probably there were serious problems in the Dressing Room as well. With the other top 6 Teams like Arsenal and Tottenham in such a good form we cannot allow ourselves to lose more points in the PL. However I believe that the BIGGEST CRIME was Billy Gilmour selling. Thank God we kept Broja and Chalobah...

I think the board have watched the style of play since they’ve arrived and knowing Americans what they’ve seen has been pretty dismal. They would want I’m sure a more dynamic and attacking approach. Tuchels is more pragmatic. So they’ve decided to part company with him. Personally I’m in two minds about it. I’ve always believed that the defence is the first thing to get right then you can develop the attacking aspects. The problem for me with Tuchel has been the fact we’re now letting in goals for fun and still not scoring at the other end. Still shocked though and there’s a part of me wishing it could have worked out with TT, because I’m sure he would have eventually got it right. We’ll never know. Wish him luck, though with 13m as parting compensation I’m sure he won’t need it.

Its a sad day for Tuchel and Chelsea, Boehly should have given him longer as the chelsea manager, why is it when team's play bad the managers get sacked, why not the players on the field

I think it was on the cards for a few games now. We just about scraped a top four spot if it wasn’t for the other teams we were competing against Ars & Tot throwing it away we would of ended up in 5th spot. We started this season poorly. But Tod still backed T.T in the market. Tod wanted Ronaldo T.T said no he didn’t fit his system, Tod could see the lucrative aspect of signing him he’s a cash cow who generates money and new fans, Tod is there to make money let’s not forget that, that must have put Tod’s nose out of joint then we lost again & again, and that was the final straw. Tod and the money men behind him had enough. T.T didn’t help himself he was looking tired & looked like he didn’t have a solution to the problems. Hence his sacking it was coming but it came sooner than we all was thinking. As Nate Dias once said… Hey I’m not surprised Mother Fu****

Being a chelsea supporter for the past 20 years. I am fine with sacking of Tuchel and with Graham Potters appointment. What I am unable to understand or grasp is the 260 million worth of signings. Did the owners decide them? Or was it Tuchel? Maybe Potter?... defies logic

They were clearly wanting to do this for a little while. No problems there…new regime, new manager…makes sense. But why wait till a week after the window closes to do it? Timing is a little odd imo.

Looks like you've covered the reasons why Tuchel was sacked quite extensively Mr. Benson. I'm sure there's others only he and the owners will know. But over $300million can't be wasted...this is a business after all.

It is a common business practice to fire the CEO after the business changes hands. It's not about the CEO's performance or management style. It's all about trust. There is nothing personal here. The mere fact that the CEO has been one of the old owners' people means he or she cannot or will not represent the interest of the new ones.
