The REAL reasons EVERYONE thinks KWAME BROWN was TRIDDIDDIDASH!

Спорт

Everyone except he and I. If you look at his numbers with the minutes he was given, he wasn't all that bad. For a #1 pick, YES! he did under perform. But you have to factor so much more into that. He was straight out of high school. Jordan was an ASSHOLE! to him. He got traded to another perceived ASSHOLE in Kobe Bryant R.I.P. And he wasn't always asked to be the star. Kwame Brown had a difficult transition to the league, but hey, he made millions of dollars and got to do what he loved for over a decade. I bet that NBA pension looking good af too! Salute Mr Brown.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great perspective on this one! I was one of those people that ragged on Kwame for years as a Lakers fan, but now that I’m older I realize that not everyone loves the game like MJ or Kobe. Some people are just trying to make it out of their hometown and provide for their families (I.e. Kwame or Sebastian Telfair). Not everyone has the drive and resolve to strive to become a Hall of Famer? Let’s be honest, how many people are guilty of not giving 110% at their jobs 24/7? How many people respond negatively to harsh criticism on a daily basis?! Food for thought

Crazy shit is some of his former teammates like Gilbert Arenas & Antawn Jamison.....speaks of how agile he was and how good he was the problem was that after all of the MJ stop and media spewing that he was garbage. Coaches refused to help the Kwame get his confidence back by simply feeding him the ball and forcing the offense to be ran through him.....Arenas stated on his podcast had they allowed him to get more touches it would've helped with his confidence.....because when he did get alot of touches he had good games.

Kwame would've been better served getting drafted later to a team that had some established veteran bigs, where he could develop slowly. I still have him as a top 10 pick in my redraft, but I think the pressure of being #1 overall overwhelmed him. Even if he were only the 6th or 7th pick that would have taken a huge load off his shoulders.

Good point. That's the thing; the players get all the blame for being busts when they can't help where they get picked. You could blame the team's front office for believing the guy was worth taking at that spot and not doing their homework. Of course, teams that usually pick that high are trash anyway, so it's not surprising they blew the pick.

Kwame's issues: confidence, and the situation he was put during the beginning of his career. They changed his game and he became an incomplete player: he was an agile power forward, they made him a stiff center. Injuries also played a part. He also changed his jumpshot (you can compare his earlier highlights to see how he had a decent form) and his free throw ritual changed every year... very good indicators of confidence issues

I actually like Kwame. I think Jordan actually wanted this guy to succeed. He saw the resemblance of how much they looked alike (others probably pointed this out to Jordan as well). Also Jordan knew about his story. I really feel Jordan felt impassioned to Kwame, and was fed up and got angry. Feeling that Kwame wasn't trying hard enough. Going hard enough to want to be the best he can be. Just like Jordan did himself. I can feel Jordan on that note. Kobe also; to a certain degree. Kobe however, just thought Kwame was lazy and was a waste of space. I didn't like how Kobe would hold press conferences, and discussions behind Kwame's back; and talk about how bad he was. That showed the "Scumbagednish" of Kobe; and he was at many times...a Scumbag.

Couple that with the fact MJ took him 1st when Curry and Chandler were far better talents and prospects and Z-Bo was ready out the gate... But to your point, if getting munnie and getting over more deserving players is everything, he's def a winner. Not much different than Marv Williams in my eyes... He could have had a style of play like KG. The height and quickness. If he went to the Spurs he would have been a completely different player.

I think Kwame was drafted to the wrong team. I think of he had been drafted to a team where he didn't have to take on such harsh criticism his confidence would still be there. Also, his agility and good it was was mentioned in the video. With that said, probably never would've encouraged him to bulk up. I would've encouraged him on out run the 4s and 5s he went up against on the break and on offense and on defense use his quick feet to draw charges on just about anyone. Maybe if lighter could use him in pick and roll to get layups or open mid range even though he had small hands. I don't think that would've been asking too much and probably would've been good as a 3rd or 4th scoring option on the right team.

Eventually Kwame became an "enforcer" type, a great screen setter, a guy who once coaches figured out his weaknesses would work with his strengths. MJ was bad for KB, very bad so was Kobe BUT they were also good for him in the long run. He may have been out of the league without them riding him like they did. KB may not be podcasting, and expressing/defending himself the way he does without MJ and Kobe. He was a kid and though MJ was tough KB may have gained alot in the long-run. Having a decade plus NBA career and getting to the bag, I'm not mad at KB. His game in today's era would be a say Steven Adams (a vet Kwame, Pistons KB)

Fam I can appreciate this guy tryna put a positive spin on EVERYTHING. But all this revisionist history on kwame brown's pro career gotta stop. He is one of the worst #1 overall picks ever. As a Washingtonian I saw him be a bum for yrs live not on a tv screen.

Brown had way too much pressure for his age, and growing up in a place were there was no father figure, and having the dude who he most likely looked up to growing up call him all kinds of names. would make any young man lose focus.

It was all setup at that time because the league was trying to overshadow mj from the league and they needed someone to be the face of the league.they wanted Kwame most likely but they found out about a kid from Akron Ohio and they wanted him. So they had to tarnish kb image to make room for lbj.now we see how they trying to make lbj the face by trying to make him the greatest of all time to dethrone mj from his popularity in the NBA.my opinion

To me it was Michael Jordan's fault because the Wizards selected him in the draft as the number 1 pick out of high school and you tore down this guys confidence by calling him names and when he got to the Lakers Kobe Bryant did the same thing and you expect him to be better overall. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
