No clue if you can see thanks sent or patreon but I do think this platform is great for creators to showcase their abilities (which you have) and engage with people. It’s okay to take a sponsor etc but your titles went away from woodworking. Fact. I along with many others have called out the clickbait and it went worse. You did a video about how your views were cut etc and titled this killed 50% of my business. Probably one of the most viewed videos, it was honest on why and you had valid points in there, 100%. However that was your subs, me included, rushing to see what happened which I’m sure the algorithm picked up and you got new people watching. If you’re really that think headed the TL;DR for you is sell products, showcase the amazing work you can do, and stop with titles that are not reflective of your abilities - they take away from your craftsmanship abilities, which you have. I wish you nothing but the best. Sounds like my mom was there and I’m sure she already told you this already. Mom and I will continue to check in and look for the talent we know you have and the world needs to see.

I used to own a cafe on a small industrial estate in the UK. Most of my customers were regulars. A new lady came in one day and we got talking. She and her husband had rented a small unit on the estate. They had recently moved from South Africa. Her husband was a joiner and had started a small business producing high-quality furniture. I asked how it was going. She told me that they hadn't sold anything yet as her husband was making some items to display his skills. Every time I asked how business was going, I got the same reply. The husband was making stuff but not selling it. His wife seemed a pleasant enough lady, but she didn't come across as a businesswoman. After a few months, the lady stopped coming in, and the business closed down. I doubt if they got one sale. I guess the guy made good furniture. I don't know since I never saw any of it. But even if he made the best furniture in the world, it didn't do him any good, because he had no idea how to sell it. If you're no good at selling and you haven't got anyone to sell for you, don't start a business. You're going to fail. Learn to sell before you start. You'll save yourself a lot of money, heartache, and regret.

I used to make a piece, drive to all the furniture stores in town until I found someone who would talk to me, and in the conversation I would show them my piece, ask "if my piece is not of interest, and I could make any piece of furniture, which one would you like"? At this point they would tell me what that was, would tell me what wholesale price they would pay, what wood, what finish, size etc. With all that information, I would go back to my shop and make this piece with my touches, make excellent photos and price it at where I would make a good profit. Information is power.

And then there are the old retired guys that have been three times around the block and know lots of businesses such as their doctors' office and notice that they need a special corner table in their waiting room, and a simple question to the doctor like "If you had a corner table in your waiting room, what kind of wood tone would you think would please you most?" and then make it for him and tell him it's his and if he would like to donate to your wood finishing fund go ahead, but it's a gift because you like doing this kind of work. It's likely he will want other stuff in his office. Doctors know other doctors and stuff like that - and they have money! A retired old guy's thoughts. Cheers

There are some KZreadrs who have incredible amounts of extremely expensive tools, machinery and wood that can’t compete with a Boy Scout looking to complete a project to earn a badge. Everyone has different skills and talents but those who have few seem to be best at pitching tools.

Not to be a contrarian - I sort by Average Customer Review first. Sometimes it doesn't work, but quality is important in woodworking. Ask my missing finger.....

You forgot one. Maybe you're not selling anything because your work is crap. Where I live there are a lot of carpenters and because of this prices are very low. And because prices are low their work is crap. My neighbor saw some of the work I did at my house and asked me to refurb a dresser she had. I declined because I told her she could buy new for less than what I would charge. She accepted my price because of the poor quality of the work around here. She was thrilled with the work and had me build new cabinets for an addition to her house that was under construction. Now I have contracts for outfitting her two restaurants and other customers calling. I don't negotiate on price because I don't need to do this to make a living. Makes it a lot easier to do good work.

Basically start building stuff making mistakes and reading, learning; then you will get to the point of building stuff without making mistakes. Making the stuff is part innate ability, part acquiring skills, part vision; selling it is another discipline entirely and probably 75% in importance while maybe 15% of the time, and maybe 50% of the work.

Seems so. If I'm not mistaken, it's the 2 hp (maybe 3hp?) with the router table extension and TiN coating. Great saw I'd say! For all completely honest disclosure I own the same one...

@@wildpat03 would have to be the 2hp model since Eric has pointed out he can't change the electrical breaker in his garage apartment and the 3hp model is a 240v tool. I've been torn between the 4hp Harvey and the 5hp 40th anniversary edition Grizzly. The $500 freight charge on the Harvey is hard to eat when I can drive 2 hours and pick up the Grizzly in person.

@@Sauron227 You're right, it must be the 2hp then. As for the choice between the Harvey 4hp and the GrizzLy you mentioned, that's a very, very hard decision to make... Freight included and without taxes, there is quite a bit of difference in cost. Good luck!

It’s a no decision when a company gives it to you. Just makes it more expensive for the rest of us non You tubers that are in the market for a tool. That is why I no longer subscribe or push like on videos anymore unless I really like their content.

It’s a Harvey Alpha series that has a special coating (can’t think of it off the top of my head) it is suppose to help prevent rust. Saw a YTuber that had it flaking off on his, but other then that have no heard any other bad reviews.

Are you ever going to replace the E in design on your sign? Details out of place like that really bug me. It's like the business that used to be across the street from me. Every day I'd see their sign with awful kerning and the font they chose that had all the letters in slightly different styles. The only thing they could have done worse would have been to use Comic Sans.
