Honestly if she didnt do that , nobody would hear the emotions in her singing plus it was live. So, that was worth hearing especially for the fans that paid to hear her sing. Edit: so.. its ok when artists encourages audience to sing along, but its not ok when artists wanted audience to stay silent for a moment? I can understand its not the best performance, but can you sing with your emotions or bring out so much emotions like a light switch? Artists have their own ups & downs moments too. Also, if you like listening to a crowd singing & screaming in your ears, then enjoy it i guess.

As someone who’s used to classical concerts where sometimes you can’t even enter or leave the auditorium mid performance the backlash seems so petty. Musicians spend so much time and effort learning a piece. I know pop and classical concerts are different experiences but if they want you to be quiet so that they can preform then I think that’s their call.

  • @lunamiku4166

But classical concerts are different from non classical concerts... More or less I think it's already given that you should be quiet when you are in a classical concert and also in musical/theater/stage play shows and also it doesn't help that only a few counties are silent when there's a concert (like in Japan people are taught not so sing a long with the artist unless they say so or if they are just cheering) She could say beforehand that she wants the crowd to be silent before she sang the song rather than shushing them in the midway of it

Oh? Not allowed to sing over your singer, that you supposedly love, at *their* concert? The one that other people went to, besides you, to hear THE SINGER? Cry me a fucking river. This is the problem with a lot fandoms: fans not being self-aware of their place or surroundings. I’m not even a fan of Lorde; y’all are just annoying as shit. Yes, shushing someone might have a negative connotation, especially since Lorde continued with a trembling pitch of voice after, but it’s more inconsiderate to screech over her if you just think about it. People come to concerts to hear their singers and see them perform. Nobody came for you. There’s times when singers put out the mic for the audience to sing. Other than that, listen to the song, mouth it a little, maybe clap and cheer afterwards, and then gtfo.

As much as I believe singing along is one of the perks of a concert, when the artists asks you to be silent for that one song, I really can't see what's wrong with that request nor doing a shush to remind people you made that request. .-. It's not like she was expecting fans to be quiet from the whole concert. It's just one song.
