Here is a little background on RME. They engineer and produce medical equipment. With that being said, I have left my Rme interface on for weeks and never had any stability issues or crashes. They are designed like medical equipment. Disney use RME. Many broadcast companies also. I have had my RME Ufx 2 for years, it never failed even with being on for weeks at a time. Using the usb to power the interface, comes with introducing possible computer noise into your mix. Having a powered interface, especially a medical grade interface, keeps the noise floor down. I believe if you monitored the noise floor on the RME versus the UAD, I think your personal preference would have changed. If you want Disney grade sound, RME is the way to go.

@@andrewharman6861 your old interface must not have been RME. Because if it was, it would still be supported. 😆. If you get the Ufx model, you can have madi, adat, analog and aes working simultaneously. Most don’t know exactly what all they get with Rme. Total mix alone is valuable.

I'm currently using an RME Babyface Pro FS in tandem with an RME Digiface USB. I've connected the Babyface Pro to the Digiface using the first ADAT channel for both input and output. The other three input/output channels on the Digiface are linked to three 8-channel AD/DA converters. These converters not only interface with my outboard gear but also feed 16 channels into my summing mixer. I'm planning an upgrade to include the UCX and the ARC Controller. Post-upgrade, I'll switch the Babyface Pro to CC mode for use with my MPC, utilizing eight analog output channels. These will connect to my rack of outboard gear through an ADAT to DA converter. This setup should optimize my audio workflow significantly, and enable me to upgrade my MPC conversion quite a bit.

Yeah Im a UAD guy and have been for a long time as well. UAD is like apple to me menaing that their products just work and you just "set it and forget it" type of solution. The console is powerful and the sound is phenominal especially with all the signature brand stuff. Its not just another emulation of SSL, API, Neve and others but its actually a direct sound source frequency response plug that mimicks what the real hardware would do and how it would sound. This is why when doing compariosons, they sound the closest if not identical to the real ones. I have a apollo rack , twin, two satelittes and two PCIe cards...so my system is pretty much set ya know. Great video bro.

Just to be clear the RME in class compliant is only going to playback what you have in your MPC already and the way MPC handles D/A with class compliant is terrible. This is where all the converter issues are stemming from. Just take track that you know well, play it back on the RME through your interface. Take that same track put it in Akai mpc and play it back via class compliant with the same RME you going to hear difference, there is so many of us who have done this test and that is why the whole converter issue came up. It add a dull thud to the bottom end and hypes it up, and too much air and brilliance in the top end, this is counter intuitive, they need to fix this, so class compliant is NOT going to do anything for you but just give your more outs, you better off just getting and SSL Big six and atleas get some faders eqa etc. The SSL converter is much better and it will help you to go from class compliant back into the computer as that will be your AD conversion via usb cable.

@@johnstarks5323RME UCX II does not work in class compliant mode, I have tested that, I asked RME about it and confirmed again at NAMM 2024, they said most probably it does not work with Akai because probably is using a usb 1.0 protocol and RME machines can be taxing on the Akai cpu, it works for about a minute or so and then the glitches start. Baby Face Pro does work, I have test that, the only USB class compliant that has worked flawlessly and getting multiple channels out is the SSL Bix Six, there is list of akai class compliant on google if you search, but most are usually working with just 1-4, there are some exception , the tascam, the Eventide effects and some behringer, but people have complained that when they update the mpc some of the ones that were working now have glitches. It is basically a mess with akai, it reminds me of the driver and extension issues of software back in the 90s on computers.

This is exactly why the UCX II and MOTU Ultralight 5mkII aren’t the right interfaces for me. Babyface Pro FS is killer, but have you looked into the Antelope Audio Zen Go Synergy Core (or the Q)? It’s more similar to the UAD workflow with built-in DSP effects. I even think they’re running a holiday promo that bundles all the FX with the interface (except their bridge app that lets you control them from your DAW). Haven’t tried it myself, but my understanding is the Antelope’s conversion and pre-amps are stellar/on-par with RME. Clocking may even be better, and that’s for less $$$. If you’re using low impedance headphones (IEMs), the Babyface’s 1/8” output is better. Judging from forums, I also think it’s reasonable to expect RME will outperform the Antelope in driver stability, low-latency performance, and long-term support for both drivers and firmware. The main thing holding me back from the Antelope Zen Go/Q is the display. I’ve had issues with similar displays in field recorders getting dimmer over time - and I’m not excited about what happens when those screens die with the devices are out of warranty. The Babyface Pro FS’s LED meters maybe limited, but they give me a lot of confidence that it will be as usable in a decade as it is today. Even more than portability, I’ll trade that reliability for some mess on my desk when using it in my home studio (cable management with the Babyface is a bit of a joke compared to every other interface I mentioned).

The only thing that can stop an older Fireface in its track is Apple or Intel deciding to kill support for a port. A lot of people & studios out there are about to have very expensive, extremely robust paperweights they'll have to throw away and replace just because Apple stopped making the Firewire 800 to thunderbolt 2 adaptor (which then needs a thunderbolt 3 adaptor). And in my case, the adaptor died. RME's driver is sitting there waiting, unstoppable.

In the past, the band has used RME and UAD in worship some people find the Rme mixer not so easy to use and yeah I would agree the manual sucks However personally I think the RMe needs that extra power because it has an extra special sound and needs some juice personally I don’t know why you would’ve gone for Rme when you have invested such a lot into UAD plug-ins financially UA prices up until about 8 months ago were way higher than other plugin developers now they are bringing things down to earth and that’s tempting but still I go RME but we are talking bigger money for either interface and for a lot less the rest of the field is catching up if you’re upgrading from an old focusrite version and have not already invested in UAD plug-ins, Rme is still an A1 choice as I know you agree in fact you may one day go back to RME for your mobile sets as the baby face still is a leader End of day it all comes down to the clarity of the sound stage and how inspired your ears to create just from the audio range of the interface if your blown away on your UAD that’s cool bro

Cords and cables and stuff is kind of part of electronics and audio. I mean it's hard to understand how someone would be purchasing high end gear like RME and not know what it actually does and if they need it or not, and be expecting not to need cords and cables running into it. It sounds like you're just starting out in this game and you've got 159k subs. I guess maybe you're an in the box guy, but then why would you buy a $1700 dollar interface with so much I/O?

The RME is gonna travel over time. The value is in their conversion & (basic) dsp control. UAD however actually has creative, real-time plugins that you can use. The dsp is on a diff level. The converters in the Apollo are technically not as high performing as RME tho. That being said, computer technology is getting faster. May not need Apollo DSP in time. And you may be able to roll native plugins with low latency monitoring in the DAW with that. Thanks for the honest video!

lol….the fact that RME has faster speeds than Thunderbolt with only USB 2 is one of the reasons why you should get one and try it. Having that interface you will never upgrade for 30+ years because of the drivers it’s world class.

@@tuneunleashed not knocking RME quality especially over the test of time. I just personally need thunderbolt for my studio to daisy chain all the stuff I have. That’s my appreciation for thunderbolt. The faster speeds are certainly envious but I have barely any delay on my focusrite 8 line and I’m mostly a midi keyboard and mouse guy to do all my stuff. Respect to why they stick with usb 2 but for me it’s outdated in my studio for what I’m looking for. Everyone has their own wants and needs. I shouldn’t have said I don’t get RME at all as much as I don’t get why they don’t support different types of setups. I’ve never met someone who has an RME who doesn’t love it, period.

Sooooo, the "real reason you sent it back" was because "I'm just a UA guy"? And you thought it was USB powered? The headline is pretty misleading, Lol.. It infers that there is a problem, which you stated there was not right up front, thank you for that. Also, the product is a FIREFACE UCX 2, not FIREFOX as it reads in your headline. Oh well, I did not learn anything from this video, I'm glad I listened at 2x speed. Hope you review the Babyface Pro FS, bus powered, can work with any computer or iPad, has two independent headphone jacks, has a dedicated MIDI input and Adat light pipe expandable, pretty crazy for a small interface.

Everyone talking about the UAD workflow in 2023’ basically now 2024’ is hilarious and shows lack of knowledge. First of all all that DSP doesn’t matter anymore with what computers can do now. And we talking Mac or PC. Second, and most importantly UAD is a fan club like Apple at this point. People don’t even know why except that like Bolo they have been rocking with them forever even thiufh at thros point they are both overrated af (Im a apple and ua guy currently but not forver thats for sure) but.. It’s 2024 Apple UAD are no longer what they are. It’s about the converters but people seem to not care about the important things. If you do RME and Lynx should be your top choices. As far as plugins well plenty of other better options too. Stop paying attention to the mainstream overrated that’s being pushed when there are fer better options.

Basically That’s what I said in video… Even though Tesla is showing us the future, some people still love gas powered cars. Same way with computers and operating systems. Some people don’t wanna upgrade because they’re fine where they’re at. It’s just a personal preference. Regardless of what converters you have, if you don’t know how to use it the correct way, it’s still gonna come out sounding like trash.

@@BoloDaProducer you right. but the thing is can we around the same age. when people was just rockin on an mpc back in the day even if they didn’t have audio knowledge but were able to trust their ears those mpc ruff mixes if properly leveled sound way better than the trash thats coming out every other week nowadays. Mixes sound thin and awful so those converters make a big difference when it comes down to even the novice and fhe results they getting out the box
