  • @StegeoTV

    @StegeoTV

    6 жыл бұрын

    shihlin1 I'll have to disagree. Bening was lead/supporting in the film and didn't have lots of material. People raved about her just due to the scene where she slaps herself. None of Bening's 4 Oscar-nominated performance deserved an Oscar, though it's unfair how so many actresses inferior to Bening have an Oscar. Swank gave a groundbreaking performance in BDC and was also stunning in MDB. But art is subjective and everyone has their own opinion.

    I agree. And please forgive this next observation, but is it just me who noticed her bosom was bigger in Buffy in 1992 to present day. I know she had lost much weight while her intensive training to know who to move and fight like a talented female boxer. But as an example of the reverse, Demi Moore got curvier as she got older which is more a typical thing especially after having a baby. And yes, I'm 100% sure, her chest is now very enhanced since NO ONE who trained as hard as she did to get fairly ripped for her role as G.I. Jane and not lose the body fat in her breasts. Hollywood has always boggled my mind since Hollywood seems to use the same idiotic logic with regard to nearly everything as a bank does when you actually NEED to borrow money. Banks will NOT lend those who need a loan they CAN payback, BUT are willing to throw money at those who are rich enough not to need a loan for anything. Not directly related to this video, but I felt I should add this bit if truth here in the following..... Unless of course you're in very big business. In this scenario, banks WILL lend millions of dollars to that person or company, then continue to lend money to that same person or company even after they have declared bankruptcy. I'm not gonna bash Trump, but he and his businesses are one of many perfect examples. For even further money BS...think about what happened when it finally became PUBLIC knowledge that nearly EVERY big bank and mortgage lender WERE lying. They even paid BRIBES to S&P, Moodys, and Fitch. ALL were caught in the act of FRAUD!! If these businesses were in any other industry, they would have been shut down, and all property ceased by the US Government. However, the US government bailed out these lying bastards and ALL the money given them to use to HELP THE CONSUMERS DEFRAUDED simply went into the pockets of the top people who owned/ran these banks, lenders, and rating agencies!! I thought it was a crime to commit fraud, bribery, and theft? Since it IS...why didn't the American people rise up together and do something about it?

    This video is a disastrous, cheap knockoff of one Looper already did years ago. However, Swank is one of the only living two-time Oscar winners for Best Actress like Field, McDormand, Foster and Streep who can and may win a third one. I hope she will. I have a gut feeling that she may be soon take home her third before hitting 50 or 60.

    clone 2k For the years she won, and the roles, obviously ! BDC was one of the most riveting, haunting performances ever made by an actress before Monster and unarguably Room, which were breakthrough roles for Swank, Theron and Larson. MDB was a gritty, blunt sports drama, a tearjerking masterpiece and Swank was heartwrenching and heartwarming in her portrayal of Margaret. She was both steely and strong whilst being tragically sensitive and resilient. So it was obvious for her to win for both roles. I was bummed when she failed to bag a third nomination for The Homesman.

    Winning an oscar is an absolutely impossible accomplishment if you think about they only give out 4 acting oscars every year out of how many working actors? And you can have a whole career of being a top 5 actor but never winning an oscar. If you have a truly great performance in a movie but its a year when a Tom Hanks has Philadelphia or Daniel Day-Lewis has There Will Be Blood then you have no shot of winning no matter what you did.

  • @joemckim1183

    I totally agree that she was perfectly cast in those movies. Basically those type of roles for actors only come around basically a handful of times in their careers. Like Jamie Foxx might do a lot of great work after Ray but he'll never be as great as he was in that movie again, most likely.

    +Fresh Start Nonsense. The profession of acting is given far too much attention and adulation compared to other professions. Actors merely employ their talents to create an illusion. The real problem solving has to be done in the real world. It's similar to the situation with athletes. They're all drastically overpaid in relation to what they actually do. The powers that be don't care about this situation because these performers provide the "bread and circuses" distractions to keep the idiotic public's attention away from the massive corruption, soft tyranny and financial crimes that all present day governments are heavily involved in.

    Oh man with the answer how i love your comment and how glad i am to realize that they are still people like you out there . I couldn't agree more with everything you wrote . I'm a veterinarian and run also animal shelters and rescue centers that i have set up over the past 15 years , and though i work nearly 15 hours a day i would never earn in a month what some of these people make in a week if not a day, plus whatever i earn goes back into the job , so basically i just work to keep on working. I am not complaining that's a life choice i made and i am glad i did , because i feel useful and to me there is nothing more rewarding than to see an animal happy and healthy . But i am fully aware that this is always the people who try to do something for others than themselves who usually end up struggling, while the ones who are completely ego driven are the ones rewarded and idealized by society .The fact that an actor, a singer , a soccer player, basketball player, football player , model, TV reality celebrity , or even people like Kim Karadashian make more in an hour than doctors , or teachers or pilots or even the guys cheking the planes we fly on make in a month or even a year when it comes to a airplane mechanic who is the one responsible for us flying safely and not crashing . This is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous . As for the "the massive corruption, soft tyranny and financial crimes that all present day governments are heavily involved in." part, i couldn't agree more .

    There are actors and people in certain types of professions who make millions who find a way to give back to the world that's given them so much when in the beginning they had so little. It just depends on the person who's doing it really and what they're doing it for. Also there are more professions out there that can make you a millionaire besides being a famous actor, are those people overpaid too?

    Hollywood is bullshit and stupidly harsh on women but sure lets be catty and bring down a woman who won two oscars more than most people ever will and blame her career waning on....being amazingly talented and successful and winning two oscars?? Jesus. Damned if you do and damned if you don't ...

    This video popped up randomly, so I thought I'd check it out. Noticed that the video was made 4 years ago. (It's 2023 now.) Hilary Swank was cast in 'The Hunt' (2020 film) as the lead villain and also cast in the lead role of "Alaska Daily' (TV series on ABC). Both of them are worth watching. Her career is far from over.

    To this day I don't understand why Hilary Swank has disappeared from Hollywood's radar. Btw 2000-05 she was one of its most in-demand actresses. Then right after she won her second Oscar in 2005 she disappeared. I know she divorced her hubby Chad Lowe when she found out about his drug habit that he kept hidden from her. I don’t understand how someone with so much talent can't find movie roles anymore. My friends say it's bc Hilary isn't pretty or hot enuff for Hollywood, she's competing now against the likes of Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johanson and Margot Robbie. I won’t watch any of these ladies movies more than once, but I saw Million Dollar Baby at least five times. And I wanna check out "Freedom Writers" since many folks have raved about that movie. A real shame about Hilary’s disappearance.
