    2 years married. Marriage to me is support. Having someone always looking out of you, taking care of you, having your back, listen to you without judgement, having a best friend you can always lean on. My advice to you (although y’all are two very beautiful people who probably don’t need it): You may not want things to change because of that title but sometimes that’s what happens. Every marriage is different but if you find things start to shift, don’t fight it. It’s growth. And growing together in marriage can be so amazing. I hope you continue making relationship videos from a wife’s point of view after you tie the knot. I would love to see the things you learn, discover and view differently as time goes on. Congratulations, much love.

    I'm sorry but " Having someone always looking out of you, taking care of you, having your back, listen to you without judgement, having a best friend you can always lean on" has nothing to do with marriage. It's amazing if a person can have that support, married or not, and it isn't really something that comes out of being married or something, on the contrary you should have those things before you decide to get married to that person in the first place.

    when I was married, it was because when I saw her I had a feeling that nobody else ever gave me, she excited me and she put up with my awkwardnesses and she helped me developed it to a better person, she showed me that tipping the cups sideways / helped them dry when washing dishes and putting them on the counter to dry, she made me feel loved and valued and great she filled my heart and did so much for me, She is still Awesome, but Like Bruno Mars Sings, I should have Bot her flowers, because she doesn't dance with me any more. ... but enough about me... keep amazing Eachother all the time and don't go to bed angry, listen to Eachother and make time for Eachother, Do silly stuff in public and alone, *surprise her with things she likes just to see her smile* tell her you love her when she is stressing about work, ♡ you guys

    Serene Jaamac that is correct, her and I are no longer together, and as much as I still love her and I get a lump in my throat (after 2 years separated) and every other person I have with since her and I broke up feels wrong, I promised to love her the rest of my life, I want the best for her and it isn't me, she lifted me up and I slowed her down she focussed for me while she was falling apart and she made everything look perfect i didnt see her struggling, when I did see she was tired of doing everything to keep me together it was too late and I didn't know what to do, and I dropped the ball. :-(

    I really dont understand people in my generation who say marriage is a peice of paper and a ring. No, its a proclaimiation to the public that this is your partner, that your heart is taken, to the community. Thats what marriage has always been, so others respect your relationship, and see it as something solid. No matter what you say, people will always look at lovers different from husband and wife. Husband and wife build a life together, lovers love in the moment of time. And its great that you dont want a title, but some people want it to make it official to the world. Anyway, good look on your marriage even if it is not traditional! it is still a union between two primary partners.

    Listen More well then you dont get married if you dont want to, im not saying lovers cant be life long ( and in that case it pretty much is marriage regardless) but publicly announcing your life long relationship through law and ceremony is a way to make it public. wearing rings signifies your monomogamy to people. thats something lovers dont do and yes it does hold more respect and accountability to others around you. if you dont want that, thats your life. but some people do want public recognition.

  • @ThisIsMissCheeky

    @ThisIsMissCheeky

    Koala Rizo lovers just love in the moment? Nah that's ridiculous. Two people who are not married can build a life, future and family together too. Marriage is a social construct and is not a must for two people to be committed to one another. Not everyone cares about what other traditional people believe in.

    My parents never married and no one sees them as less. But in general I agree. Marriage does send another message. Marriage an be a piece of paper, a ring and message to the outside world but it shouldn't change much else. And that isn't even a reason not to marry. But you grow into a partnership with someone, going from dating, to serious relationship, moving in, and seeing them truly as the person you build your life with, have children with is happening with small steps. Marriage is the sign to the world that you have reached that final step, that you are now there. But it should not change something inherently about your relationship, you should have been there for some time already. And then marriage is a choice. You can choose to make your commitment to each other official or you can just show it by being a union.

  • @Neverseenstars

    @Neverseenstars

    6 жыл бұрын

    Julia Nymwhen thats most likely because people viewed them as being married because they started a family. And yes, in general thats what im saying. marriage is simply living a life together, commited, and most people decided to do that by having a ceremony and signing papers, exhanging rings. Of course some people just move in, and then have a family down the line. I know thats how my boyfriends parents were too.

How do you keep growing in the relationship once you've moved in together? I think it's very easy to get complacent & lazy on both ends when you live together & see each other everyday.

    SlowClass Kai for me, that's a simple case of constant and open communication, to keep eachother updated about ideas, desires, needs and to keep fooling around with eachother, discovering new experiences together, and apart for stories to tell, to play romantic little pranks and kind surprises. To show that one listens and notices and cares to fulfill those little needs that the other has but dismisses as too much of an effort/luxury. I can't say if Shan has the same idea, but it's worked for me for a decade and counting :D

    I know you didn't ask but hopefully I can help.I feel like seeing one another outside of the house is important. Also having your own lives. So many people move in together and spend way too much time in the house. They stop sharing their hobbies and going on adventures. Also try to enjoy living together. A spontaneous massage, shower together, reading, intentional movie nights, etc. My husband and I are super goofy so we prank one another and have water balloon fights with our kids. It's so fun. I feel like it's hard not to get in a place where you're so used to seeing the person. This is just my opinion and what works for my relationship.

So choosing that person to go on that journey with you is much greater than a feeling you have in a moment. It's the good or bad thick or thin your the person I pick to go through all that with. People tend to define marriage as an institution that is accepting to society. Define marriage on your own terms and do it however you feel is right. It's a big deal to even show your viewers how you guys are doing things and it should definitely be commemorated. Of course people won't agree and some will even condemn you, but you have to do what makes you happy.

    I respect this observation and it really is apart of a much larger thought space based on my experiences (esp professionally over the past few months - see Steve Harvey episode I’m on). In life there is a bit of playing the game if you want to succeed in society but you CAN’T let the game play you. For example go to university to get a degree in the field you love even tho u know Real World experience where you get paid is a much better education. But don’t go to university without first figuring out what you really are passionate about and what your calling is. That’s how the system plays you

    Loved this video, loved the casualness of it - and the photos are beautiful! Reminds me a bit of band (duo) photos, but nonetheless you both look great :) I understand your view on marriage and partnership, and coming from a circle of friends where very few get married, I see a pattern. Those who have kids, I think they see it as the marriage you describe, it's what binds them together for life. Now the world knows that we are serious. Too bad so few chose to get married before having children, and not even considering it now, as what I know - since they often think it's costly or inconvenient. I see the ritual of marriage as a beautiful declaration of love, and making it clear to the world that you are a partnership. But I also don't see the difference between being in a serious relationship and being married, as you explained. The few people I know who did marry, don't have kids, and I think their choice to do so is similar to yours. To show the world that this is my soul mate, my ride or die, my kindred spirit and the likes.

    In this video you make it seem like you dont care that much about the married title. Saying stuff like, "The title is for yall" and "We were already doing everything as a couple", but then in the video about the engagement you were bawling, basically saying it was your dream come true and asking why he didnt do the love speech.....mad contradictory. Acting like you dont actually care about the title when you do.

    I couldn't agree more with you about this. But this is true for a lot of poly people. Basically, they feel they have to constantly justify their way of life to others and marriage instantly "legitimizes" a relationship as "real" in the eyes of others and of course that has an influence on their individual psyches, no matter how much they may say it doesn't.

    Well if theyre married she knows what type of person he is and he knows what would bother her. If they didn’t have an understanding of what was ok and what was not, I don’t think they would be married. They seem secure enough in their relationship.

    Hi Shannon, I am so freaking happy for you. I have been on your channel for years now and I've watched your journey and your videos sometimes I completely agree sometimes I completely disagree and sometimes I learn something or become more open to certain ideas and I think it's great that your getting married, I am also thankful so be able to watch and learn from this despite the fact that it is a form of media and lacks the behind the scenes idiosyncrasies that I am not privy to. Anyways Thanks for for sharing.

    Congrats guys. Beautiful couple! Marriage or the idea of it should not supercede the mind, body and spirit. From experience, we can get lost on what "others" expect as compared to what we need a as a unit working and building together. Truth is, we evolve as we move forward together and as such, there comes a time to reevaluate and do a check up. Your needs supercedes the wants of those outside of your unit. Build, Be Happy and Be Great!

    Thank you for sharing this with us, now I can write what I wanted to write on your last instagram post where you asked the same question. I admire the relationship you guys have, you have such a genuine and authentic relationship. You guys are together because you work well together. You guys have such an unconventional relationship and so out of the box. Your relationship can be seen as taboo, open relationship and a very solid and real foundation built on trust, communication and understanding. To be honest I did not see this engagement coming lol I didn't think you guys would do something conventional as get married because your open relationship had such an uproar and made such a statement to others. After seeing this video I understand why you guys made this decision. Thank you so much for being open and authentic with your viewers. To answer your question: the point of marriage is to build a legacy and an empire together. The point is to legally be united as one unit. And exactly how you guys said it's to solidify other people's respect for your relationship. I think you guys made a smart move! And I cant wait to see how you guys decide to celebrate and how you guys set the new bar for marriages! Love you guyS!
