Secondly, she didn’t divorce Kobe because he bought her a million dollar ring and she probably didn’t want her children to have to suffer. Thirdly, Kobes mother sold the memorabilia because Kobe bought his mother in law a 3 million dollar home and only gave his mother 250k for a house. His mother obviously felt betrayed.

His parents made a public statement apologizing to Kobe for selling his memorabilia without permission, they admitted that Kobe was Financially supporting them until they did all that shady shit. Imagine your accomplishments In trophies, Championship rings etc. you giving them to your parents as representing a “Thank you for getting me here.” For them to turn around instead and sell it all in an auction for $450,000+. That’s a slap in the damn face tellin your child none of it mattered to them but they would rather have had the money. So those who are saying he should have respected his parents and still had listened and done for them what they did for him. When is it ever ok for your parents to disrespect you? Never! He did what he felt in his heart he needed to do because of their own ungratefulness. And they reconciled after his retirement, so he did what he needed to do in order for them to understand as his parents your kids should always be respected even in their choices.

As “Pink Book Lessons” pointed out. There’s a lot left out surrounding the subject of his parents selling his memorabilia. Kobe’s mom asked him if he wanted the stuff and Kobe told his mom, “No, it’s yours mom...” According to Kobe, he had been taking care of them for most of his NBA career and them selling his stuff, highlighted their unappreciative attitude towards him. I don’t agree with him on that. They sacrificed their entire adult lives so that u can become one of the greatest athletes in the entire world. He bought his mother in law a house, Which is why I don’t understand why his parents had to sell his memorabilia to purchase a home. He probably bought them a house a longtime ago, I don’t know. His father was NBA player and played in Italy too, but that doesn’t mean his parents made sound decisions when concerning their finances. There’s a lot to unpack here without knowing all the details but my opinion is Vanessa should have insisted, his parents take front seat along with her at his memorial, just for the eyes of the world can witness, even if she didn’t want to do it. It wasn’t a good look. It’s perceived that his parents had very little to do with his success, which is hardly the case.

You bring up some sound wisdom and I do agree with something you pointed out about his parents and him, he was in his feelings when his wife was rejected by his parents, I get that & I understand that, his wife which ppl don't won't to dress that elephant 🐘 in the room, should have called a truce with his parents and made peace with them had a conversation with them on them making amends, so they all could grow & Bea real family, we don't know what kind of seeds she was planting in his mind she was his wife. She probably said something to him about his mother selling his things, my opinion on that if he gave it to her it shouldn't have been a problem. Last time I checked Kobe cared about winning championship, not MVP status, trophies, none of that mattered, just seizing the moment and winning ballards.

If you really really love your son, why not attend his wedding? Even if his parents didnt approve of his choice in a wife, thats his choice. Tit for tat. If I love my son I would go to his wedding and love my daughter in law, not shun her and my son by insulting them and no showing at the wedding. Look at both Kobe and Vanessa. Victims of their heritage. Their own parents. Kobes parents groomed him for fame and fortune why? Vanessas Mom took her to video shoots, her under age daughter. Why? This is so sad being used as a meal ticket by your own flesh and blood. Your parents. The scriptures go both ways. Honor Your Father and Mother we all know, and Ephesians 6:4 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. In all fairness to Kobe, he wasnt brought up to be a minister of Jesus. His parents groomed him for fame and fortune. Are they ultimately responsible for his untimely death? My honest opinion, I wish he would have thanked his parents more and wish they could have reconciled there relationship. His parents wanted Kobe to get a prenuptial agreement when he got married which he didn’t get, his parents was not supportive of him & Vanessa getting married because they were too young and because she was not African American. There’s nothing wrong with interracial marriage. You always honor & respect your parents. Kobe had his own family and you stand by the woman who stood by him even through the ups and downs.

I'm Latina my mom always said when the son gets married usually forget their moms and get closed to their wives family . In Islam mother comes first second and third . Paradise is under our mothers feet . He forgot his mom, and he lost everything . Who carried him for 9 months , who gave him birth and feed him and took care for him ? His wife didn't raised him or feed him . Of course Vanessa was his love , but his mother knew him first . Now Vanessa is getting trouble with her mom . very sad

Just by looking at pictures of Kobe’s mom you can tell that she is an intense woman. Kobe even mentioned how she was super competitive. Obviously I don’t know her so I can’t state any of these things as facts. But there’s no doubt that mothers sometimes can be a daughter in laws worst nightmare. Your parents should be cordial to your partner, especially if your partner has not done anything wrong.

Kobe loved his parents and often spoke about how close he was with them prior to marrying Vanessa, so this doesn't apply. The honor your parents verse does though. He seemed to take on a wordly way of thinking where this wasn't necessary and that they were no longer important. I think he needed them more than he realized. The money he wanted to withhold from them is still here but he isn't. You can gain the world but lose your soul.

What we have to look at is Kobe’s parents are the typical old school parents who wanted him to marry his race and they felt he wasn’t ready for that kind of commitment. Kobe’s father saw what Vanessa and especially her mother is about. Kobe cut off his parents and siblings yet bought Vanessa’s mother a million dollar home in their neighborhood, paid off all of her and her ex husband’s debts, bought her a new car every year. Why do you think she’s suing Vanessa saying Kobe promised take care of her financially for the rest of her life. As articulate as Kobe appeared to be, he left a mess. Keep believing that ESPN narrative that he fell out of the sky at 18 as an NBA Superstar and Vanessa made him what he was. Kudos to Shaq for showing love to the parents.

I honestly wish everyone would see an interview with Kobe, talking and being grateful to his parents. In the interview he expressed how much they had done for him and his sisters. How he was raised in a stable loving home. Thanking both parents, (his words) "Especially my mom she worked very hard to give us a good upbringing." My mom is like me, competitive and will accept a challenge. I believe that when he realized he was going to die, he asked, "His parents for forgiveness." I would like to know if he has come to them in their dreams? I believe he is able to see things clearly, money has no value to him. I seriously don't believe he will leave his parents with a heavy burden of feeling guilty. Knowing now that he was wrong. If his parents or sisters ever decide to write a book about "The Great Kobe Bryant." I will definitely buy it, Kobe, had several positive attributes I will study and determine why the feud went on for yrs. What or who fanned the fire to keep it going?

People tend to forget that they belonged to his mother. Also, before selling 6 items ahead asked him and Vanessa what to do with them!!!!, He then told her they are yours do what you want...It was such a disgrace that was brought into his parents. I know this is late but reading the comments yall crazy. Yes the Bible says honor thu mother and father but just because you meet them where they are doesn't mean you're being disrespectful. Yes we all know it's 3 sides to every story, but it seems as tho the PARENTS took the first shot by not attending their sons wedding because they didn't approve of WHO he was marrying...ummmm that's wrong! At the end of the day, you live life for YOU not your parents. As parents we have to some times step aside and respect our children's decisions, even tho we may not agree with them. Yes it does but Honoring your parents is a commandment of God with a promise so that you will live a long life. You don't sue your parents for selling your stuff. Tyler Perrys father did worse than Kobes parents and he blesses him like you wouldn't believe. Kobe took nothing with him to his eternity, Without mother or Father there wouldn't be a Kobe. Sad how people today dishonor their parents and misuse Gods word to defend Kobe behavior. Quite interesting

A parents reward for their hard work whilst raising children is with God, never should parents expect children to pay them back for the sacrifices they made. It's unbiblical. This concept keeps destroying families & relationships..it needs to stop.

That's a lie. Individuals are to take care of their parents if needed after they are adults. Would you let your parents be homeless and/or starve and tell them that their reward is in heaven while you go on your merrily way after they raised and took care of you?! No. You are to honor your parents so that your days aren't short on the earth. This command is given because it's understood what goes into raising a child to adulthood and it should always be respected and honored.

Lost respect for Kobe when I found out how he treated his parents. And ill tell you this... Vanessa isn't the innocent victim they paint her to be.. look at her mom. The apple dont fall to far from the tree.
