If it caused issues after just one you ether have a medical problem which means you shouldn't be putting a stimulate in your system or drinking multiple drinks in one setting like something STUPID. The problem with putting any stimulate in an alcoholic drink is it masks the fact you are drunk so you more likely to drink more and get VERY drunk than you normally will which the video has said.

I have vivid memories of the one weekend my friend group had caffeinated Four Loko. It tasted awful, so we ended up mixing it all together in a broader punch mixture with some other juices and lemonades we had lying around. We were sitting at the kitchen table at 8:30a, still drinking, equal parts wired and exhausted. I don't recommend it, but it's a memory I do cherish.

I first tried it at the Art Institute Houston in July of 2004. They had samples of it as it was being Test Marketed. I remember(At 21 I wasn't much of serious drinker) it tasting like A cross between B&J and Rockstar. It wasn't pleasant. It had a Bitter Berry Taste to it.

13:08 I live in Canada, we did not get the early versions of Four Loco. I was at Burning man and someone gifted several cans of this stuff to me. I had never tried it before and thought it was just a tall beer. I drink and can hold my liquor but this stuff hits you like a freight train, I sucked back one pretty quick then cracked the second one. I don't think I was 1/2 way through it and I ended waking up in the morning in my sleeping bag wondering how I got there, as I don't remember finishing the drink and I don't remember going to bed. Apparently I was stumbling around camp mumbling things my camp mates could not understand. My girlfriend helped me to bed. Once I woke up in the daylight I read the can and realized it had way more alcohol in it than I was expecting.

Almost on the same boat, except I was 19, fresh outta high school. That year was a blur, but I remember handcuffs and laughing at a cop after he chewed us out due to a BB shotgun in the trunk of my friends car. Same with the sweet embrace of a floor. Now, I work in helping with mental illness and drug recovery. Four Loko was toxic but made for some great times.

When I was new to drinking my older friend said "let's get some 4 Loko's". We had 10 dollars we bought 4 of the Apple one's. And got 3 dollars back as our change😅 We sat on his porch in the Georgia summer and I asked "Is this even gonna get us drunk"? He replied "oh don't worry it's gonna get you drunk". I'm 3/4th's the way through the first one and I'm honestly extremely drunk for no reason with a hint of energy. And I had to drive a company car afterwards 2 hours later. Then I start my second one and all the sudden I am puking my guts outs in his front lawn bushes for all the neighbor's to see early afternoon🤣 The next day I woke up and asked him wtf did I drink and his simple reply..."4 Loko's". Lol never again.

I recall not drinking for a couple months around the same age when I first heard of them. I was away from home for the time. I came back, had two of those bad boys at my normal pace and the DAY was over. Lol

Lol the old four loko formula with caffeine was the go to in high school. All you needed was two and you’d have a good time. I remember my buddy Jack who was our right tackle on the football team and was 6’5 300lbs with a full beard and looked liked he was 30 years old would never get carded at this liquor store so every weekend we’d pull our money together and give it all to Jack to load up on as many four lokos as possible lol.

I energetically drank 2 of the watermelon ones once. I wasn’t so energetic a little while later.

I was in college in Bellingham Washington when Four Loko was OG recipe. Man I'm surprised I'm alive. I was 19 in 2009. I've had my share. Never in my life have I ever wanted to taste four loko again after 2009-2010😂 Me and my buddies would drink a can pretty fast and try to play SKATE. Falling everywhere having fun. Literally we were all just coked up alcoholics thanks to four loko. I've powered through drinking two cans multiple times. I'm currently 5 years sober at 34 years old😂🎉

It was circa 2009 when my friends and I were 18 and went to a house party in a really sketchy side of town with each of us having two going on three Four Looks a piece. One of my friends got into an argument with another one of my friends and he ran away in a four Loko induced stupor. We spent 2 hours looking for him (and throwing up along the way) in what was called the murder capitol of San Antonio but we could not find him. He called the next morning saying that he fell asleep under an overpass 😆Good 'ol Loko RIP

Tried it in mid '08 when it first dropped on the West Coast... wasn't a huge fan, but did drink it on my nights off work.

The University students created a challenge where you drink 4 of the cans in one sitting. An insane amount of alcohol to drink in one evening for most people.

We used to call it blackout juice.

I had no idea it used to be an energy drink. I quit mixing uppers & downers after a speedball killed Chris Farley. Only one store in my town sells Loko but it is the 14%. 2 cans for $5. I call it the "switch off" because it's the only thing that lets me fall asleep aside from a hard blow to the head. Strictly medicinal, of course.

They came out in 2004. I was a 21 year old enrolled at Art Institute at the time. They had samples of it there in Plastic Solo Cups with Ice.

I turned 21 and was in college when Four Loko came out. I remember drinking it at every party that year. I don't remember any incidents of any kind. By the time I was 22 I had a more developed palate.

I remember working at a grocery store/gas station in high school. This one lady bought 4 cans of Four Loko with her winnings off a scratcher ticket around 11 in the morning. She went to the bathroom before leaving. At closing when I was taking out the bathroom trash there were four empty cans in there 🤔

The ban on drinks with alcohol and caffeine is idiotic. I remember ordering a red bull and vodka once and was told that the bar doesn’t have Red Bull because they “aren’t allowed to sell drinks that mix alcohol and caffeine”. So to make my point of how stupid the rule is, I ordered, and was served, a Crown and Coke.

What's to respect? The point he made by drinking two cans back to back is that it's a bad idea to slam the equivalent of 6-8 drinks in a short period. That should be obvious to most anyone and isn't a problem specific to FourLoko. High schools across the country have been teaching students about alcohol serving sizes for decades. "one drink" is a 4 oz glass of wine, a standard 12oz 5-6% beer, or a shot of hard liquor. It is extremely common for a single mixed drink to be the equivalent of 3-4 drinks. Four loko clearly has WAY more than just one drink in it considering the volume of the can alone. It was clearly labeled to indicate how much caffeine and alcohol was in it. If someone chose to drink multiple cans in a short time, thus taking in the equivalent of SEVERAL drinks, it's on them. No different than someone being allowed to order multiple long island iced teas back to back at a bar or slamming red bull & vodka.

It doesn't prove FourLoko is pure poison. ALL alcohol causes inebriation and intoxication. If you consume enough alcohol in a short period of time, it's going to have consequences. The body doesn't "reject" four loko. In your example, the body is exhibiting negative symptoms as a result of large consumption of alcohol in a short time. You could also drink a glass of straight grain alcohol to the face and be on the floor within an hour. The problem was always the amount of consumption, not the product being consumed. Responsible adults could pace themselves with FourLoko and not end up black out drunk. But yeah, if you think you're going to throw them back like they're 3.5% light beers, you're gonna be in for a bad time. No different than the comparison between drinking a couple beers and taking a handle of hard liquor to the noggin. It's a beyond ridiculous comparison and the fault lies on the moron drinking to excess, not on the product.

When Sparks first came out, no one was checking ID's for it because it looked nothing like a beer. This was a bitter sweet irony, as I had just turned 21.

Here's my recipe for my Four Loco cocktail. 1 can Fruit Punch Four Loco. Drink about an inch or two. Add orange juice to top. (Brown bag optional) The added sugar cuts the after taste down, and diluting it cuts down on the sodium. I call it a New York Sunrise. If you use apple juice it's a New York Sunset. Enjoy.

I moved to Miami from Toronto in 2011 so that’s when I was first introduced to the drink but I guess I just missed the OG recipe. The drink was still very strong regardless and years later they ended up selling it in Canada for a little bit

4 Loko was Test Marketed in 2004. I should know, they had Samples of it when I attended AIH.

They never tasted the same after they removed the caffeine, guarana, taurine, ect. I still grab a Four-loko Gold every now and again when im ready to get down to business.

I was in college during the height of 4L (2009-2013). My school wasn't considered too much of a party school, even though we did have a relatively large Greek system. Our campus was LITTERED with cans of the stuff year round.

I was drinking four lokos in the late 90's, early 2000's. Why does this say 2008? I was married by then and stopped drinking them.

I remember when this 1st dropped..it was considered “crack in a can”.I wanted to try it sooo bad,felt like I was missing out 😂not to long after that bad reports came out about the Lokos and it was discontinued in stores… fast forwards Years later when I’m of drinking age the formula changed & it was disgusting🤷🏽‍♀️

If you had ever drank one of the original Four Lokos you’d easily know why it was banned. There’s more than just caffeine added, and coffee can have actual benefits to the human body. Whatever they put in that stuff was pure poison.

Sparks was my shit. I was buying two on my way to work as a gravedigger, when I was 18yo. Drinking those suckers on my way to the cemetery listening to Lex and Terry.

I had the original four loko once. Made it halfway through the can before my stomach felt like it was on fire. Tossed it out and vowed to never do it again.

I chugged the berry one/red I can't remember the flavor I tried sipping it and it tasted bad so I decided to chug it while I had Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in the background. Puked all into my trashcan; felt amazing afterwards XD

In 2008, a young woman drank Four Lokos on her 20th birthday and passed out sitting on her knees. Doctors had to amputate both of her legs at the knee, and this story can be found easily on the internet. Except for the part about Four Lokos being the drink to blame, she relayed that to me personally. I also witnessed her drink 2 Four Lokos in a sitting twice after she had lost her legs (one each of watermelon and fruit punch).

It’s funny to think that a Watermelon 4Loko was the very first alcoholic drink I ever had at age 16 😅 The year was 2010 and I had two shot glasses worth of it. I was so fucked up, I was practically drunk all night (from 8:30ish to 4am) but lovin’ it. Such a shame it didn’t last long since it would’ve been a total boon during my early 20s
