It is one of the great adrenaline rushes of Spiro

Pro tip. Organs give more nutrition/bites if u drop and then eat them. They can also fill more diet slots if you need a duplicate for a certain diet combo. eating it whole gives less nutrients and the excess doesn't pass over to a second diet slot if its needed.

Wait you have to drop the organs first? Seems kind of pointless but good to know. I've been eating by pulling out pieces slowly so I could watch around me better, but had no idea I was supposed to drop it first.

I've never had any luck starting a carnivore anywhere other than center. I end up starving. The exception is sometimes starting on the beach and eating turtles, but even then, the journey from there to center is a hungry one. AI just aren't reliable enough (or at least weren't in previous patches).

I have a good amount of success in South the last two updates. North West is hit or miss. North East is pretty well barren at all times. And southeast is great for herbivores to start but definitely not carnivores. For carnivores you're right, center is the best place to begin your journey.

That was a fun video to watch! even if i did get interrupted many time while trying to watch it lol. For future reference, if you do ever get food stuck in your mouth, you can sprint and spam g until the game lets you bite. after that it is possible to eat and drink (although slightly tedious) and the food will eventually rot off your face.... eventually. an excellent challenge ^.^

@@delta3851 it should, yes. Alternatively, you can do the spam thing, then pick up and swallow something else. That usually works too

My favorite strat as a group cerato is to run around them and charge bite without intending to hit them, makes em nervous and is also a pretty sick distraction method xD this was a very fun watch :D

It definitely makes them super nervous! Charge bite is probably the scariest noise cerato makes and does a ton of damage when it does land, so it really works great to distract!

So cool to see, that incredibly large pack of troodons was me. we hit you so many times with venom, i was trying to convince everyone else to follow you i was sure you were going to die but you just kept tanking everything also i hate to say it but i love 1 calling as troodon and just drawing in everything in a 20 mile radius

I'm less than 5 minutes into your video and I just wanted to stop and say that I LOVE your narrating throughout this. It's almost like a story/guide with a realistic perspective of what you will inevitably come across in this game. I've been playing for the past month or so (both legacy and evrima) and I've tried at least half of all the dinos so far. Also, smart choice going with the Cerato. I would be camping every bush, and looting every bone and carcass until I reached full-growth lol. Oh, and thanks for the tip on the shallow sipping-spot! I noticed my fully-grown Deino had a hard time staying hidden there.. xD

Amazing video and challenge! :D One small tip i have for when youre fighting herbivores like stego and teno is use a bite on your baits. even if its at their tail. most of them use a tail slam/attack once they hear your bite out of instinct. even if youre a utah X)

The bile lock is inteded i think. The hole thing about cerato as said by the devs is that id you are in a corose and a cera is coming over you need to question if its actually that important. It's hole thing is that it poses a long term danger if you only brush past it much less if gou go for the death.

I think there's a difference between "crap, I vomited and now I am in danger of starving to death if I stick around" and "crap I can't fight back at all because every time they bite my inputs are locked for 7 seconds" Especially as they removed stuns from the majority of attacks this update to prevent similar input locks. Time will tell, but I heavily disagree with vomit lock being a thing as it encourages bad gameplay on cerato's part since they can quite literally just get a group and bum-rush even adult stegos to prevent them from attacking. A stego can't run away like most other playables, so what are they to do if they get targeted?

@@Spag419 if they'll just fix pounce, troodon and Omni can deal with stegos. As it is, raptors die on pounce 70% of the time and troo goes down about 90%, which makes it incredibly difficult to survive the fight long enough to kill one.

@@dinomettaThe bile lock is one of the only things Cerato has going for it, though. If it isn’t on a body, it struggles to defend itself against the much faster and much stronger Carno. If they get rid of bile lock, then they NEED to do something to help Cerato protect itself.

As a relatively new player to Evrima, this is the only experience i know. I always spawn center because it's the only place i can navigate without falling of a cliff i didn't see because of the bushes. Only i have no idea where the shallow water is, so there is a 50/50 chance i'll be eaten every time i drink.I have no idea where i should go. And half the leftovers are poison, because i play omni and get sick from eating cerato leftovers. And 9/10 leftovers are from cerato's because they dominate center usually. And then when i finally survived into adulthood. I get stuck on a bush and killed by a small random pachy while i'm unable to defend myself or move at all. Or i die in some other stupid way like falling of a cliff. I have a love/hate relationship with this game. It's totally frustrating at times. But i keep playing it hoping i will do better next time.

It's got a massive learning curve for sure! A couple tips: don't eat bones or rotting meat. If you sniff and it looks like a bone with goop dangling from it, it's gone bad. You can eat stuff a cerato has been eating just fine as long as it's still fresh and not just a pile of bones! You can spot shallow water by looking for twigs sticking up through the surface as well!

I thought at least the open fields would help me navigate. Because all i see is bushes on the other side of the map. I think map design is the biggest problem here.

You should definitely add a keyboard overlay during a fight sometime. I'm shook that your dino wasn't just cutting around like an NFL running back during that stego fight, and I don't think I've seen any overlays out there

I've got everything as high as possible, except bloom, clouds, and motion blur, those are on low, static, and low. I'm running the game on an rtx3080, with 32gb ram and an i-5 13600k cpu

The only issue is getting back in after. When I was recording this, the queue was often 30+ players long

I got on today to play for the first time in months and it was a new map. Couldnt find any schooling fish at all. Also health indicator was gone from tab menu

Yes, that is correct. New map, ai spawns weird, and no more health indicator

eat organs on the ground and dont swallow them to make sure you get the full value of traits. sometimes u can only take 1 bite and sometimes 5. just depends on the size of the organ but for how small you were u definitely couldve gotten afew bites out of it

It's always funny finding dead things at the bottom of cliffs! I watched 4 carnos run off that cliff a few months back. One right after the other as they smelled the dead bodies at the bottom and took off without thinking.

I spawned as a stego baby cause i wanted to feel that powerful feeling of paranoia while surrounded by preds. Currently half way to juvi, still haven't been found. The raptor sounds are EVERYWHERE

You normally don’t kill fresh spawns?? I usually don’t kill a juvi that looks like they may have gotten the diets they wanted, but fresh spawns? Pssh, I don’t mind dying as a fresh spawn as long as it’s not the 5th time in a row, so I usually treat fresh spawns as free snacks!😁 Edit: oooo that stego was close to clocking you in the face before it dropped dead! That was an awesome fight.

@@puttilepuffie organs can offer perfect diet. If you find a carcass that has the organs still inside, each different organ type gives a different diet. Lungs are dots, intestines are lines, and heart is s. Stomach gives whatever diet the prey item had the highest % of.

@@puttilepuffie well, usually fresh spawns are pretty tiny, you can kinda tell when they are approaching that 20-25ish percent on their growth, and I will usually let them live if they give me a cute juvi call haha. I also personally don’t kill anything that isn’t going to help my hunger or diets at all, because.. it’s just annoying when it happens to me lmao

This was NA3, server pop at 100 the whole time. I think the biggest issue is too many people playing deino, not enough people playing terrestrials

@@dinometta Yea, I am starting to think they should have a 10%-20% rule on species allowed on official servers. So if the population max is 100, only 10-20 people can be crocs on the server MAX. That would force people to play other dinos. Which would give the crocs who are on the server more fun to have, instead of resorting to cannibalism all the time cause there are only 70 crocs on the damn server lol. It would also be a lot more fun for non croc players, because no one can freaking hunt and kill crocs aside from other crocs.

If you usually play on EU servers, or are in the southern side of the US, I would recommend the unofficial server "petits pieds" It's run by Poutine Italienne the KZreadr and he's got some really nice coding to automatically enable and disable spawns on certain playables if they reach too high a % of the server. I can't play there as my ping is over 100, but if I could it would be my home server

Centers a great spot to spawn. So much free food. Just have to be smart.

What is the location on that shallow area to drink? I know it isn't the south part of the river, is it the west or east? I've been drinking out of the east river, but most of that seems to be deep enough to let a fully grown croc ambush in.

@@dinometta I am not familiar with the area or what deino islands is, I tend to stick to the south east or south west parts of the map. i've been in the center a few times. Mostly as a raptor looking for a pack to hunt with. I've lost way to many dinos to the damn crocs.

@@xievisthedragon ahh, okay. You know the forest on the north western edge of center? The one that people often run into and then fall to their deaths in the gully below? If you follow the edge of that to the river, then go east along the river, you'll see some small islands in the river. Ignore the first ones and keep moving down. When you see the second group of islands, look for the sticks poking up out of the water and drink as close to the middle as possible. You'll still want to be wary as it's center so there's often carnivores around, but you can generally escape a charging deino there if you're paying attention and are ready to stop drinking and run away at the first sign of danger.

Lakes and global chat would solve these crowding problems. Everyone is just looking for someone to play or have fun. Global chat made people more hesitant to kill in Legacy because you had a chance to gain a companion.

Yes and no. I had forgotten to change mics in my recording software, so my in-game recordings were on my trashy headphone mic instead of my proper one I'd just gotten. Shouldn't happen again though, now that I've actually got everything set up properly.

Center is best spawn as your small enough to get scraps to get your diet to 50% growth then run from the center.

I've watched a few of his videos, but nothing recently! I won't discount that other creators have inspired much of my content though, as the best way to see what works is to watch what people have enjoyed and putting your own spin on it! This particular challenge idea actually came to me after I watched a Path of Titans video with a similar challenge in a hot-spot on that game!

I avoid center because i dont have a great computer and get around 5 - 10 fps when in center

I usually either don't spawn in Center, or if I do spawn in Center, I attempt to leave the area as quickly and stealthily as possible. The amount of deinos I've seen camping that center river for fresh spawn beipies is downright criminal. Especially since there's no way a fresh spawn beipi is in any way filling to a deino.

@@dinometta The only defence I know of as a beipi against a deino is to leave the water and flee on land. Beipi has excellent stamina and can probably outrun the deino on land as long as it has enough of a headstart to evade the deino's initial burst of speed. I have evaded many deinos like this, but it's more difficult as a fresh spawn.

@@dinometta It sucks, but that's how it is to be a beipi. Evade deinos on land, and evade land predators in the water. Spend the day in the river hunting fish, spend the night on land foraging. I have gotten relatively good at traversing the center just by knowing when to be in the river, and when not to be.

Just turn around in the water, done it many times, bozos can't see you. Or dive down if it night, because bepis have good underwater vision, while deinos do not have underwater night vision

Truthfully? Usually center or south. I go south for cerato because he's slower and the cover in that area is better. And with his wide scent range finding food there isn't horribly difficult. Raptor, troodon, and carno I'll go center because I can usually get food and get out before I'm spotted, or I can dodge and weave through the grass and bushes to escape if I am

Where else can a troodon get food? I keep coming back to the center.

Troodon is a hard one because without a pack they can't kill anything except juvies. And juvies spawn most often in center. Can always check South, but I'll be honest I never play troodon simply because of the pounce latency bug getting me one shot constantly

@@_DEX_- As troodon? I'd go for petits pieds unofficial. It's an EU based server, but the species spread is good and you won't find mixed packs or overpacking As herbivore, NA2 and NA4 seem to be pretty popular. NA1 is just chaos always, but decent for most carnivores because of the scavenging prospects. NA3 has been decently balanced for either side. I don't really play on the others.

Ai is much harder to find in center than in south. The best way, in my opinion, to find where your preferred food goes, is to play as that animal for a while. Raptors tend to hang out NW, center, and south. I often see stegos of all sizes traveling the road from SE swamps to south. Tenos line to hang out around teno rock and will travel through the forest by SE River.

You shouldn't worry about packs of raptors I've 4v1ed and won agenst them as the cera

Yeah they're not really meant to fight adult ceratos unless they've got a full pack. And with the pounce and hitbox bugs right now it's riskier than it should be for them

I'd play this game more if I could actually get into the servers. The long server queues are pretty painful, so I prefer PoT instead.

If you can get on right around server restart, it's not too bad. There's quite a few unofficial servers as well, though unfortunately most of the active ones are EU-based

@@dinometta Yep, that's my issue. I live in the US on the west coast so it's difficult finding an open server.

One vs One against that Stego is one thing but two vs one with voice comms and neither of you were hungry at the start? I wouldn't have been too happy with it taking that long and then not being able to take advantage of the kill. Winner = Stego
