Good news though, the reason why the classic one was re-released was because Sega purchased rovio. Sega also plans to revive some of the older games, so hold on to hope, because all the classics, like angry birds epic, Rio, and all the others might be coming back!

They brought it back under the name “reds first flight” hopefully they bring back space, seasons and rio.

(Outdated ass comment left here simply because I spent a lot of time on it: fuck rovio) An AB fan from 2011 to now who actually knows the full situation unlike in this video. Basically, in 2019, rovio removed the original games that came out before AB transformers except for Angry Birds Friends, and never gave us any explanation to why. In 2021, when the REMAKE (very important) of the original Angry Birds was announced, they told us why. To put it bluntly, all of the most famous Classic Games were built in an old engine that is literally IMPOSSIBLE to maintain, and they couldn’t keep the games up anymore due to not being able to follow the App Store and Google Play regulations because of this. This is why there’s a remake of the original game. In 2022, the remake released to a very negative reception (rightly so, it was missing HALF of the original’s content, was very buggy and inaccurate too) and so in 2023, it was removed from google play (THIS IS THE VERSION OF THE GAME REMOVED FROM GOOGLE PLAY IN FEBRUARY, NOT THE ORIGINAL GAME) and renamed to Red’s First Flight in the App Store. The reason for this is 1. The game was literally hurting rovio’s financial profits because it would come up before any AB game, and it being paid was driving people away from downloading any Angry Birds games cus no one pays for mobile games anymore, and no, they were not gonna make it free and give it ads, that’s the LAST thing rovio wanted to do with the remake, they wanted it to be a special gift for classic fans 2. Because of reason 1, they removed it from google play and used the rename in the App Store as a test to see if it would bring people back to downloading angry birds games, which may have single-handedly saved the franchise (By the way, if this goes well for them, they’ve stated that they will probably bring back the remake as Red’s First Flight on google play too) 3. A small loophole is if you’ve downloaded it in the past before (at least on iOS devices) if you still use the same Apple ID or know somone who did you can still download it and play it. Personally that’s how I’m able to play angry birds Star Wars l and ll to this day (December 2023)

Have you tried Red's first flight on the app store? Or if you have a 360 or modern Xbox console, you could get the 360 version of the original and Star Wars versions pretty cheap from eBay. That's actually how I've been playing Angry Birds recently.

This is exactly why companies need to stop using statistics alone to judge somethings success, because they thought everything else was failing because one of them was doing better than the others. They expected all of their other games to be as popular as their first one, but they don’t understand or demographic that got them popular for the first one. It was mostly 30 and 40 year olds that don’t have much time to play games. It just sit on their phone taking up space and they might play it once a week and you know who is playing all of the other games you got rid of younger kids or more willing to spend money for more willing to Bing it and play it in more willing to recommend it to 50 yard some people hell kids were even recommending Ingrid games to strangers. I had some kid walk up to me and say have you heard of Angry Birds space and I told him yeah I have I just can’t play it cause my phones not new enough and now that I do have a good enough phone I can’t buy it because they decided to remove it the only ones that I understand being removed is Star Wars and Rio because of licensing from the companies because those can run up and I get that but your original content like Angry Birds epic Angry Birds go you decided not enough people are playing it anymore let’s delete it even though Angry Birds go had a toy sold with it too. That was about 30 or $40. That you could buy a toy so all those toys at those kids bought are now absolutely useless like the whole point of it was you put the toy on your tablet and you can basically drive it in the game but it was a big move and maybe it wasn’t cost-effective but they didn’t need to delete the app. He did not need to remove it from the App Store because it cost them nothing nothing to keep it running, and that’s what bugs me the most it cost them nothing to keep Angry Birds go running the only reason they removed it. It’s because they’re too lazy to update it there too lazy to bring it to the new iOS there too lazy to actually do fucking work. They would rather completely delete a game and release it at a higher price than update it. Angry Birds what is top dog leave self sabotage than harder than rockstar

@@natepion8449 no, this is incorrect, Sega bought rovio cus of how well they are doing and for the employees, to help with future Sega mobile games. The buyout hasn’t even gone through yet as of me writing this, it could still not happen. Rovio are actually doing better than they did even in 2012 at the moment.

How does removing their most downloaded game make them more money?

Were they so blinded by success that they literally thought that players would go "oh no, the original is gone, guess we’ll have to play a different version now…"? Because they’re not the only developer on the market. They made an extremely popular hit game, but since the others were a flop they took down the first one? That doesn’t make sense.

The real reason is that rovio used deprecated software to develop these games so since the technology advanced, they got forced to close their game to remake them again with brand new software to make them available again, but im not sure this will happen...

I really had so many memories with Angry Birds, I used to play almost every Angry Birds game and used to really enjoy them.

When I’m was looking for the app there wasn’t but when I look again in 2022 is back

CLARIFICATION All of them were removed way back in 2016, then the OG one was remade under a slightly different name, Rovio Classics: Angry Birds, then they removed it recently and renamed it on the Apple stores to Red's First Flight.

No, It was because of the Game Engine and latest phones having trouble to play the game that's the reason it was taken down and then re release so that it could support new devices.

The missing angry bird version game. "Angry birds space" one of my childhood games but then I decided to install it again but it was vanished from the app store I became sad and played other games.

That was a extremely bold move, but surprisingly it was to an extent successful as the two Star Wars editions, the Angry birds 2, and also the Bad Piggies were very successful games.

this is like breaking down a scoffold under a building that's been there for a year after installing another one that was breaking

Some game developers really be sweating or working hard for having their game being popular while Rovio is like: *NO, I want my other games being more popular* Angry Birds Star Wars and Rovio edition are also removed, good times..

Yeah Bad Piggies was also interesting! I also like the plane game from Rovio, simple mechanics but delicately executed 👌 Edit: it's called Retry

Fun Fact: I got the app the day it came out, and it was actually called “Angry Birds Classic (Something idk i forgot)”

I still got the original Angry Birds, just on a different phone

Angry birds star wars and Bad piggies were my favourite games. I remember my uncle bought the Galaxy Note S1 and first thing I asked was can it run the bird game that comes in tv ads, after that we both were hooked.

@@salvatorevolpe7851 SEGA did almost go Bankrupt, but they stopped focusing on Consoles and got bought by a holding company. Thanks to that SEGA became a game developer instead of focusing on the consoles itselves. But seriously, have you been living under a rock?

They made too many sequels which resulted in the downfall... They could have simply not made any sequels and launched angry birds 2 everyone would be talking/playing it. But they tried too hard and failed

I played it non stop from 2012 to 2015 and then one day I uninstalled it because it was distracting and I wanted to focus on my studies, since then I never downloaded it again and completely forgot that it even existed.

correct me if im wrong but i believe rovio said that they had to take down all of their old angry birds games due to them not being able to run on new phone updates

The thing is, no modern rovio employees literally can use it, no one there understands it, it’s why the remake (yes, it was a remake that got removed in February from the play store) was made. if you wanna know more and why this video is complete BS, I wrote a pretty long comment.

Wasn’t the real reason that the older games were built with old engines that weren’t supported with modern phones?

they made a *_premium copy_* of the original and then removed it in like, 6 months after and remember when we thought the classic games were to come back when bad piggies came back?
