Since Vyke had entered the chamber of the Three Fingers with armour on, he did not receive the Flame of Frenzy properly. If I am correct, you can find Vyke's eyes in the game in the form of Shabririr grapes (special ones that are specificaly Vyke's), which indicates that he ended up plucking his eyes out to strip himself of the Flame of Frenzy.

The thing is his skin wasn’t seared by any flame, just his armour. You can see melted fingerprints on his armour set, and I think the reason he failed to become Elden lord and went mad is because he went to the 3 fingers with armour on. The player doesn’t go mad because they undergo the full proper procedure with the 3 fingers and allow the Frenzied Flame into your very soul and body in a way that is not doable with armour on. It would also explain why the 3 fingers are still there when the player goes to get Frenzied Flame, because we clearly see them disappear after the transference is done, now that it has been properly done

From the Fingerprint Grape: "Eyeball of the Knight Vyke, Inflamed yellow. Seared with a repulsive fingerprint burn akin to those that marred his entire body." So his body did get seared, however it was likely through his armor so you are, probably, half right. His armor prevented a proper transference but he was clearly scarred by the frenzied flame.

You can also get Edgar's from Castle Morne his eyeballs after you kill him. His eyes full of madness in seek of revenge for his daughter who was killed by Misgottens. Also kind of messed up that Hyetta is theorized to be a resurrected Irina. Which means you are giving Hyetta her father's eyeballs.

@@enterusername6953 It's not even a question. She definitely is, somehow, a form of Irina. She has the exact same model and voice, and only shows up after Irina is killed. She also requires Edgar's "grape". Perhaps this might imply that all finger maidens are somehow women that died and were resurrected by Marika, but that the shabriri finger maidens were corrupted through some process. Keep in mind that Melina, herself not a real finger maiden in the truest sense, was also punished by marika, possibly burned alive, and doesn't seem to remember some details about her past life as the gloam eyed queen, unless she's lying. Hyetta certainly doesn't remember anything concerning how Irina passed away.

Vyke is definitely my favorite NPC.

I like to think that Lansseax actually told Vyke about the Frenzied Flame after he encountered Shabriri and the truth of the finger maiden’s sacrifice, and he went to kill the source, unaware of its identity as the Three Fingers. Lansseax wanted to use this opportunity to deal with the Frenzied Flame once and for all, and asked Cyke to accept Shabriri’s invitation and get close to the Frenzied Flame. While he was conflicted on his choice through the descent about saving his finger maiden, when he opened the doors and saw the Three Fingers he hesitated, his mind trying to comprehend what it could mean and its connection to the Two Fingers in Roundtable Hold. That hesitation led to his capture and to be burned by the Frenzied Flame as he was wearing his armor when he was burned. After surviving Vyke’s assassination attempt, the Three Fingers made the rule to completely strip before entering its chambers. Vyke was able to resist, but would periodically give in to madness. The people of Liurnia tried to cure him, but he ended up infecting the village and killing his maiden. After this, he went to the Mountaintop where he sealed himself in an Evergaol, to prevent himself from becoming the Lord of Frenzy but still maintains his resistance as in his fight he doesn’t use any madness attacks. In addition, his spear which inflicts madness was probably used to stab the Three Fingers, but failed to kill it. The flames from the Three Fingers infected his spear. Lansseax then guards the outskirts of the capital to prevent any Tarnished from suffering the same fate of the depths.

The lore makes the game that much more of a masterpiece.

Always liked the fingerprint armor, and vyke as a protagonist. His spear is decent, I particularly prefer it in PVP when the unexpecting invader succumbs to madness.

If i remember correctly it is said that "no one knows the reason he suddenly abandoned his duty" or something like that, so maybe he realized his maiden had to die for he to become the elden lord and decided not to do it

Isn't his flesh intact because he messed up trying to become the Three Fingers' vessel? His armor is burned because he didn't know he needed to divest himself of all worldly possessions (strip naked) before interacting with the Three Fingers, thus causing the interaction to fail. This is why he still lost his maiden, right? Or maybe I'm missing something

But you got to mention the part where you can find him two different times, first in a church in the north side of Lee hernia as an invader where he uses frenzy incantations, and again inside of an ever jail in the mountain tops of the Giants where all he uses is ancient dragon lightning. Possibly hinting that after his fight with the tarnished player Vike somehow manages to cure himself of the flame, just as you can using miquella's needle

It’s explained that invading works outside of time and so he could be invading you from another world where he escapes the evergaol (or never gets put in there). That’s why you kill Anastasia the tarnished eater multiple times in multiple locations. In our world vyke is in the evergaol. We know that evergaols aren’t just places for spirits but their actual corporeal form resides there. Think back to blaidds quest where you go and kill darrowil. My theory is that he didn’t want to sacrifice his maiden or she was killed beforehand (we know she’s dead as she’s the dead maiden in the church of inhibition) so he became a vessel for the frenzied flame, as he was on his way to the forge of the giants to burn the erdtree he was captured and put in his evergaol.

I think vyke invades you from the time before he gets locked in the evergaol but after he gets touched by the frenzied flame and that the fact he doesn’t use frenzied flame incantations in the evergaol just happens to be because he can’t or because he just decides not to. I think it’s safe to say that when you kill someone as an invader they die but if you kill the invader they just go back to where they came from. Almost like they’re just spirits. More proof that invading works outside of time is that alberich invades you in roundtable hold but his charred remains can be found in the fortified manor in leyndell where you get his armor set as well. I don’t think it’s explicitly stated whether the raging wolf is dead after we arrive in the lands between but I think it’s pretty safe to assume so as he was one of the first tarnished to join the roundtable hold. If that’s the case I believe it’s because you help bernhal invade him or bernhal killed him whenever he inevitably invaded him without you.

So, technically, vyke didn't actually get burned, only his armour. Vyke didn't have a frenzied finger maiden (Like how we have hyetta) to tell him to take off his armour, so instead of inheriting the flame, he just kinda doesn't, and he loses his maiden anyway

Vyke is probably the reason Morgott hates tarnished. It's clearly Vyke saw the Thorns - so Morgott allowed him to go to the Erdtree, and then Vyke contacted the Frenzied flame - no Morgott's seal blocked the path. And Vyke's downfall and becoming something that is clear danger to the Erdtree Morgott was deeply disappointed and made his goal to kill all tarnished who wants to become a lord, because even the most noble of them succumbed to the flames of ambition.

An important thing to add is that, considering that the Vyke in the evergaol is most likely the "real" Vyke and not the invader, he managed to cure himself of the Frenzied Flame. If he hadn't been locked away, he would have probably burnt the erdtree himself, cured himself, and then became Elden lord. We need a powerful needle capable of stopping outer gods influence, and bring said needle to a land outside of time itself to cure ourselves, but Vyke did it himself. Now THAT is main character energy

Incorrect. It was Lansseax. Fortissax was the Dragon that Godwyn fought and eventually the two earned each other's respect. Hence when Godwyn was shanked by the black knives, Fortissax did his best to stave off death from Godwyn's physical body, becoming a Lichdragon in the process.

Just a lil tid bit. Vyke wasn't the closest to becoming the elden lord, well he might be but its still up for debate but this assumption mostly came from the english translation making yet another oopsie. Apparently the Japanese version of the game instead describes him as being one of the few tarnished that managed to come close to becoming elden lord.

If you look closely at his armor set, the 3 fingers grasped him *from behind* meaning he regretted meeting them and tried to run away

The cool thing is that Vyke keeps his madness in check. He is stuck in an evergaol near the mountaintop of the giants, but when you fight him, he shows no sign of madness. Only his phantom, found near a village plagued with madness, harbors madness. The real Vyke holds his sanity, waiting for someone to defeat him, and go further than he could, reaching the fire of the giants, and burning the erdtree.

But we know that's not the end of vyke. He's found later in a gaol, with fingerprints on him but no frenzy flame.
