I agree with you and realistically 1 card isn’t really released a week because less than 1% of players can play them. When cards are put into series three that’s when everyone really has a chance to play them and that’s months after they’re released and the buzz is gone. They need more gamemodes or something to do because the thrill of unlocking cards isn’t there anymore when you complete series 3.

@@aden4153 I only get bundles but I guess I qualify as a whale. It sucks so many cards are locked behind a disguised paywall. It really messes with the competitive side of the too. Like in tournaments.

I totally agree with you. All I want is weekly +1/-1 power changes to lots of cards based on stats we know they have: - Card isn't seeing any play? +1 power - Too much play? -1 power - Win % too high? -1 power - Win % too low? +1 power You get the point. Then we can have monthly/longer term "Big" changes where they may completely change the way a card plays (like sand man going from 4/1 to 5/5, or Zabu going from 3/2 -2 cost to 2/2 -1 cost, or the leader change). +1/-1 power changes consistently would at least give some freshness to trying new things out and keep things a little more balances without completely ruining anything at once, it would also help keep bad cards from becoming too bad... and hey, if a bad card turns broken because of a small power bump, its not any different than a new card being released and it could always be toned back down. Would keep things interesting.

I feel like the meta being relatively the same isn't a massive problem cus if u wanna grind to infinite u gotta accept that's it's gonna be just that, a grind and it's always gonna be more fun to play less conventional decks with cards that u just got. Although I'm still in series 3 and will probably want cards acquisition to be easier when Ive finished it. Also massive respect to u keeping the video up despite pressure from so many people it was definitely the right choice

I said this a week or so ago, everything that made Marvel Snap different was cool and novel at first, and now those things are really starting to show their problems. They tried to reinvent the wheel and, sure, it fixed some old problems, but it also introduced new problems.

I know you said that shorts won’t be uploaded but I really do enjoy the marvel snap smash or pass. It’s always a light in my day to just look at new variants and share the love of art with everyone in this community. So I would love for that to continue however I do understand why they would not continue. Also this was also probably one of the most amazing videos made in response to criticism. Probably one of the best responses ever made. Thank you for all your videos and I’m looking forward to what you make in the future.

I completely agree with you. I’m bored with the game and I haven’t even completed Pool 3. Its cool when I get a new card but it usually requires another 2-3 new cards to make a new deck

Very accurate statement. Usually need multiple Series 3 cards to make a deck that works the way it should.

P.S. I totally agree that they need to buff more cards, same type of treatment they gave Wolverine but with a handful of cards for each patch. Second Dinner even stated they don't need to wait till the end of the month to make changes to cards. If something goes bad or becomes wonky, they can always revert it back. I cut back on my playtime and I'm almost Series 3 complete. Do my missions and log off. Other game modes would be really nice! As another content creator stated, "Second Dinner takes way too long to implement anything". Pretty accurate statement. In December they said they would fix tokens, still waiting. 🤔

They should add team bonuses for playing multiple cards of the same team type: xmen, avengers, so on so forth. Each team could have their own unique buff

Oh i 100% feel you, been playing less recently also only doing my missions, got P3 complete a couple of days ago and that thrill of looking forward to getting a new card, it's just gone, i just got Galactus and it's like, what now? I know when the next series drop happens in some time now and ill have those cards in no time. I feel like this game needs a proper P4 with like 100~ new cards to really make it shine again, that joy of collecting cards it's just gone in a way.

Arena would readdict me to the game honestly. I just completed series 3 last week, I hit infinite within the first two weeks of every season, and I just find myself hoarding credits to min max my spending according to series drops. Solid points all around in your video.

Yep yep, just going to take quite a bit of time! But it's coming! As for Smash or Pass, I'm taking a small break from that- I can't afford to buy variants that often, and the constant complaining when I don't buy anything has gotten to me a little bit there too. I'm workshopping it at the moment, will probably bring it back in a slightly different form

It's a hard balance to maintain. I can understand the other video getting some harsh critique, but I don't feel you were incorrect in your assessment. The pass seems to house the "must have card" if you intend to be competitive. I think it could be fun to have some differnt modes as you mentioned: maybe a draft of "ill-used" cards, or cards that simply don't see play? Nerfs are fine, but there shoudl be some way of changing up the meta without having to resort to simply nerfing/buffing cards. You want to see variety, that's half the fun of playing, is seeing all the different combination folks can come up with, and not just sticking to the popular/competitve cards that are working for that month. I'm sure it's frustrating on developers side too, how do they balance fun and shifting meta without making it stale, or upseting everyone in the process. Regardless, I enjoy your content, been watching you since your HS days :)

Great video. I feel the same way: I finished in the 80's last season and in this new one I can't reach 70's. Everytime that I'm near the mix of bad rng, good players and decks appear. There's a constant feeling that when I get a new card this isn't so good anymore. For now I'm just doing my daily missions.

Last season I couldn't get past 52. I've now got to 54, and I think I might be able to crack 60.

i massively agree with all of your sentiments... you've said it all very very well. i stopped playing meta, playing less, and just playing 100% for fun messing around with a bunch of decks. On the positive note, what i think will breathe new life into this game is time. given time there will be more cards, there will be new modes, there will be a budding competitive series, and again, NEW games modes. I think this game will really start to get massively fun again in 4-6 months per the roadmap, and again, will become special and not feel so one-dimentional. A similar thing happened with clash royale (albeit that game is a worse game with a lower ceiling), but where its at now, vs where it was on month 3, is a HUGE change. So much creativity, modes, competitive scene, all that entering the game has really ultimately made it something special; and this has a much much much higher ceiling. My advice is to hang in there, have fun, mess around with different decks, get back to what you do outside of marvel snap, and as the game matures, and the devs have the time to reach for the stars, imrpove, and add different modes and learn, we'll be in a very happy place again, that will only get better.

maybe dive into some fun draft tourneys with your your community, get creative on the rules, and mess about using all the cards and again, focusing more on the community fun factor than the 'rank'. Once i hit 100 i lose all desire and literally wont play for a couple weeks, or until i have a grip of caches or bundles to rip through. I do however always check the varients every evening :)

Instead of nerfs I'd like to see buffs to cards that aren't used. Then wait a month and see where the meta sits then. Instead of nerfing cards over and over with a few minor buffs in between

I totally agree with you and your opinions in this video u hit the nail on the head the main one which would spice the game up so so much is if they buff the bad cards like Cyclops, quake as u said, Hawkeye just so many random bad cards which could have the potential on being great and fun to play, spider woman being a 4/7 maybe then we would see more of her, I really hope they see Ur video and take advice

Thanks for your insight, I partially agree. The meta does not fundamentally change that often. But I do not think Zabu and Surfer are still “problem” cards. The meta is still finding its place after their domination. Now you also see Thanos and Cerebro 3, and the content creator tournament last weekend was won by Devil Dino. There are multiple good decks to play and that feels healthy. The problem is, that outside ranked battles there is nothing to do or grind for except boosters. A cool new mode with deck limits or something and monthly missions to grind for a variant would be cool. Or maybe an achievement system to unlock titles or card backs. Now it is just ranked and play the best deck… Thanks for making this video, criticism keeps the game healthy. However I am not concerned for its future! Nor for your channel, keep up the good work.

Ok I disappeared for a week and apparently I missed a lot. I'm really surprised at the response to your video, I thought you made good points and I didn't really agree with how strong you thought modok was but it wasn't a big deal. I feel like that response was way over the top. Also I loved your shorts and I'm gonna miss them but it's completely understandable why you aren't doing them any more.

Been playing since full launch and just got to 2900 collection rank but I would love an arena type mode. Would keep the game fresh

Yeah. I got bored too. Just uninstalled it from my phone. Mostly because I find most of the locations annoying. I don't even lose all the time, when those locations show up, but I started to get so annoyed by some locations, that I end uo just reatreating after turn 1 or 2, about 80% of the time. It was just not fun anymore.

Making a good point, i feel the same (i got almost all cards, missing like 6 of them) last days i played the missions and a bit over that, in the week of new season and on 31 i played like nonstop cuz i had so many new things but after a few weeks, now i am like let me play shuri deck, deathwave deck or midrange and swap on those ... i don't think a lot of ppl are like collins, big props to him for mastering decks to a huge degree, i personaly like to try new stuff have fun and climb with them, figuring new stuff, go RNG idk, i feel like i am playing same decks for a long time just rotating throu them. Draft mode with big credit rewards for winning a lot of games in that draft like 12 wins on HS, giving you like 3k credits on big win would save the game, make it more competitiv and fun on that mode and interesting, feeling like i am playing to get smth in return to help me unlock stuff. Even without big rewards i would enjoy the draft mode. I also think all this will be updated since we have a real client for PC, i think they focus on that and once we got that would be more easy to implement stuff, for now we can't even participate in event or news from PC variant xDD On another note, we all make mistakes, the fact that u rae honest and not afraid to admiting it its something big, so don't stress to much because of that. Much love from romanian, i lived in UK too a few years xDD i realy enjoy your content.

I hope/wish they would release more pool 3 cards. I don't see what's stopping them. Even when they released a bunch of S4 and 5 cards at once, that was exciting. One card a week doesn't feel satisfying quick enough

If they released say 3-5 S4 and 5 (so 6-10 total) once a month (or if longer, up to 6 weeks), I think that'd be fine. Then people would have time to grind for those new cards

Imo they should release most new cards directly into series 4 so peke can get them quite easily if they set their sights on them. That way they can reserve series 5 for the big flashy cards with intimidating characters (Thanos, Galactus, Kang, Mephisto, Living Tribunal) and it would make series 5 feel much more special.

I know you briefly mentioned card acquisition being a problem but I think it’s probably the biggest problem for casual players. I play every day but I can’t grind. And while getting new cards is fun, half the time I get a good card post nerf. Today I unlocked leader…greeeat (not that I liked the leader play style anyway but that’s besides the point). I’ve had trouble this season because the only deck I actually have good cards for is a surfer deck and the nerf hurt him (it’s still playable but definitely not as good). I don’t know what the solution is. I get so tilted seeing creators opening packs and getting tokens after tokens and here I am still with 900 and she hulk or dark hawk or aero in my shop. I do have an idea for one of your main issues though. The meta being stale. What do you think about a “jail” for certain cards for a particular time period. This is just a rough example but think: 30 cards are unplayable for 48 hours. Similar to how people make decks for hot locations, jailed cards would force people to change up their decks pretty regularly. My own surfer deck could be an example. I lose swarm and maximus in one jailed session, now do I change decks or find other cards. Or surfer get jailed and now I have to figure out of blue marvel will be enough or do I need to do something completely different. If zabu or dark hawk got jailed now, imagine how different the decks would be. Maybe 48 hours isn’t enough. There’d need to be a lot of testing

I think cards getting 'jailed' is honestly already achieved by having the hot locations, since they often make certain cards better and certain cards worse. If they ever did that it would have to be akin to hearthstone's Standard and Wild formats.

@@kingskele378 to a degree and only for a short period. I find with hot locations, people either make a specific deck for it or at most just tweak their current deck. But jailed cards would mean potentially having no access to several cards for a week or a month or whatever. I’m not saying this is the best solution but it would at least mean decks have to change pretty regularly. I don’t know heartstone at all so I’m not sure how well the difference formats work

What if instead of locations being revealed one at a time all 3 are revealed on turn 1, but every turn they change? Now whether this should be a separate game mode or be the default I'm not sure. Edit: there should be more cards like Jessica Jones because she has the ability to go from 4 to 8 power but only IF you don't play a card in the same location, this plays more into the mind game part as there are now tradeoffs so do you let her get the buff or play a card like spider man

I don’t really think Zabu and Surfer would return to anywhere near their former dominance just from Shuri being nerfed. They would need to also nerf Aero and DeathWave, and even then… I think they meta could actually be in a decent spot if they nerfed all 3 of those things. Especially if they buffed some of the weaker/unplayable cards in the game like they did with Wolverine. That would be awesome. I’m holding out hope for an Angel buff, personally.

I agree I got galactus and thanos in the same week and I had a lot of fun. But then I got what I wanted and then the fun died once everyone started playing it or just bored after playing it so much. Then I got dark hawk played a lot again then it died again. The time of a new card doesn’t fill the gap enough for me to consistently want to keep playing.

It's hard for me to relate since I am still in pool 3 but even now I have noticed that meta is pretty boring. I have fun playing off-meta.

I've got the pass each month since Black Panther. I have my fun with the card for a few days and upgrade it to infinite, but I drop it after a week and start messing with other decks. I mainly get the pass for the extra credits and gold and guaranteed variants. I'm not too fussed about having every card. If Series 4 and 5 cards were easier to obtain everyone would have them and the game would get stale real quick. If I had one suggested improvement it would be an increased chance of pulling a variant from CRs.

I think the current token system is not fulfilling tokens should be 200 at minimum and needs better playable events where we compete for gold or rare mystry varient

Fair criticisms, and don't be dissuaded by a couple of weirdly over negative comments. I do miss smash or pass :( wish it could come back in a different format! For me I totally agree with how you feel about the meta, Shuri & Galactus especially feel bad as they are difficult to counter without drawing a specific card by turn 4. A bit of uniqueness to the meta or decks would be a breath of fresh air. Funnily enough I found last season as soon as I hit Infinite the decks suddenly varied incredibly. Might be related too but I found some bots run meta decks which would seem to exacerbate the issue as well. Anyway keep up the content! I always look forward to your videos 🙂

Can we get gameplay from you playing snap?

I appreciate the accountability. I will say on the note of Hearthstone-style games releasing expansions every few months that have hundreds of cards: Marvel SNAP has a very different card value than most card games. On average, each individual card is worth more than in a game like Hearthstone or Magic, where there's a good 40% of cards that are literally worthless and have 0 use. So yes, we get fewer cards over time, but those fewer cards have more weight put on them as well. Plus, SNAP's 12 card deck system makes releasing too many cards be an issue.

I don't think you have to apologize for anything. The way the season passes were going is toward power creep there's no doubt in my mind it was a bait tactic from Second Dinner. Buy these passes, get these overtuned cards, we'll nerf them soon anyways. Why do you think they took so long with Leader? It wasn't a paid card.

I tried to play more but most people i've been facing already reached Infinite and i didnt event get past rank 60, so i just do missions and after that quit everytime, I am playing almost everytime something new facing the same sh** again and again. I am burned, i just want to have fun.

Hey If you read this I think pusshing the idea of getting stikers instead of avatars can be cool. I haven't change my avatar in 5 months and getting stikers can be way better than tittles or avantars that nobody uses

This "solved meta" hasn't even been around for a month - last month was a lot more different zabu/surfer decks. The meta in a way will solve itself because if you see shuri/redskull you're only going to win 2 cubes most often. I think the focus on your video should be buffing bad cards that dont get played more than complaining about good cards. If you're bored of playing "Shuri into a big thing" you have the CL to play something else. Part of the greatness of this game is you can win more cubes with worse decks if you can take people by surprise, so if you're bored, be surprising - probably will help you rank up. If you have no interest in being surprising or playing anything that's not Shuri, then maybe step away from the game for a bit.

While I do agree with this to an extent- and would have made the same argument myself a month ago. There's only so much 'surprise' you can deliver. Nothing is really that surprising anymore, because there aren't enough cards in the game for that. When I was climbing through series 3. I'd unlock Cerebro and enjoy surprising my opponent with that etc, but unfortunately the issue with being at my collection level is that everyone knows everything that you could throw at them. Surprise isn't as much as a factor as it initial seems. All I'm saying is that I think that the game needs an occasional large dump of cards, so that people actually have reason to experiment with lots of different things, instead of the 'one' new card that everyone is experimenting with at the same time

The meta is far from solved. Shuri, Deathwave, New contender Thanos, Mr.Negative, Ramp, Sera, the Freddybabes, Galactus. All decks interact differently and counter each other. Also Zabu's change was perfect, not broken at all imo.

Also, I agree. 1 card a week that no one can't acquire kinda sucks for a card game. There's no hype for new cards. Ghost has been out for over a week and I've literally only seen one youtube video about it and they said it wasn't even a good card. Haha

Card acquisition is the issue how can the meta ever change if the majority of the game base doesn't have access to the cards.

Every month they need to drop all the cards they want to release at once and let players pick 1 card they want to get either for free or select the battle pass card they want. Keeps the game fresh and keeps second sinners desire for everyone having different collections

Meta the same thing in every card game. For example I come from Yu-Gi-Oh the last meta was tearlment and it was on top for a 6 months until they completely slaughtered and banned everyone of its cards and then they introduced the new meta. So either something is rebalance or they release something more powerful Witch is power creep. there will always be something that's more powerful that will be released in the future and then everyone will play that rinse-and-repeat forever

This game will end up in the typical usual slow power creep, new cards all the time, original cards becoming obsolete, and more opportunities to spend money to keep up or keep ahead. Wouldn't surprise me soon if they resort to pack openings, tiny chance at obtaining a series 5 hero, wjales will become prominent, casual gamers will become addicted to needlessly spending etc etc etc. It's incredibly predictable, but I'm just right now enjoying it for what it is, before the inevitable

Even professional KZread channels that get millions of views hardly make any money off one video we have to get popular and get millions of views on over 100 videos just to make decent money

The first minute and once again proving why I unsubbed to Hoogland, good on ya. But you also make a very strong point that the meta doesn't really change all that much. Most cards have been just kinda... there. The last big one was Zabu and before that it was Darkhawk and Surfer, and the only one really noticeable except at the highest ranks was Surfer because of how rare Darkhawk was! I played my Cerebro 2 deck basically from the third week of playing to the day I stopped playing and the only thing that really changed was me adding in Brood or Yellowjacket over Yondu. While it's nice I could theoretically play that deck forever it still started to feel stale in that classic Skinner Box Treadmill™ kinda way, and that isn't keeping me playing the game, having stopped about three weeks ago at this point. I also don't know if there's any way to get players back IN once they do drop.

I'm in the same spot and I've only been playing for two months. I really feel like the collection acquisition is a big source of these problems on top of the nerfs not being enough because no one can obtain the new cards in a meaningful way except the top 1%... I love the game but God the collection system is complete dog shit.

The game aslo rewards braindead plays and i mena REWARDS it. Shuri > Big thing on armor > Task or Moon girl > Skip turn > She hulks and Infinaut. How stupid is that? Then FULL on archetypes like move and bounce get destroyed for trying be creative

I don't like that they Nerf cards they should just keep releasing more powerful cards or like another card games when a car is problematic it has to be banned from the game because you can't Nerf it or it would completely ruin it so it just has to be deleted

If they just kept releasing more powerful cards into series 5, only the very wealthiest players would ever win any games. Marvel Snap isn’t like yugioh or other card games. There are far fewer cards in the game and far fewer cards released at once, so it’s important that they keep the cards they have released balanced

@@FalconeHosts Yu-Gi-Oh only has more cards because it's been out for 20 years I can see this game being exactly like Yu-Gi-Oh because it doesn't have separate format you're allowed to use every card in the pool and I don't see them making alternate formats your face equally just playing every card since the game came out and Marvel has infinite characters so I see this as the perfect game to just keep releasing more and more powerful cards endlessly. All they have to do is give people a lot more resources so they'll be able to get cards or just make cards just way easier to get if they have to do they should just introduce packs.

This is incorrect, look at the speed in which yugioh releases cards compared to Marvel snap. Snap has settled into releasing one card per week- and as the devs have communicated, there currently aren’t any plans on changing that. That’s 40 cards per year. How many cards release in each yugioh set? How many sets do they release each year? Cards are valued differently in Marvel snap. It takes longer to get cards, and you don’t open packs, you open single cards. It’s an entirely different ecosystem

NO dude. YOu were right, Madok is pretty strong. YOu will see that it is strong, the only reason why it ISN"T so strong now is not enough people have the pool 4 and 5 cards that works with it. ANd I agree with you. The meta is just ridiuclous. SAME Decks are just MUCH stronger than the non-meta". this game is only a few months old. IT suffers the SAME problems as a 4 year old card game. the "BIG thing" with just SHuri, Death, She-hulk, is jsut getting boring. The 10 year olds that argue "just play shangchi" are just .... sigh. SHangchi, which is kind of the only card to counter and it's 4 cost card. and it requires you to HAVE shangchi on hand. Lastly, as a gamer for 20 years+, the main issue with this game is... IT's just stale and boring. YOu are dead on. And to some people that say games get boring after a while, yes that's true. But this game is only a few months old, and PVP should have much longer replay value. I played CS;Go for YEARS without getting bored. Sc2, WoW, even games like SKyrim. I played GWENT for years and even with it's problems had many creative ways to play. This game. Is just stale. Creative ways to play... is non-existent. MOVE decks are GREAT. but no one plays it cause it's weak and not consistent enough. Here is one thing I am really thankful about this game. IT really taught me how hostile people are in this game and my gosh, reddit, lol... IT showed how stupid people are to pour money into this obvious predatory bare bones game. Compare it to a game like Elden ring. the quality difference... is. And what's amazing is how simple minded human beings are. This game is a worrying warning for civilization against greed, and the people's defense to keep themselves shackled to it. I watched with interest as people defended second dinner for their exorbitant prices. It was interesting how some streamers were defending BenB when he has shown through time after time, albit SMILING AND CHILL, trying as much as he could to milk money from people. There. are. better. games. out. there. Here is what will fix this game. 1. Buff A LOT unused cards. Not just 1 or 2. I mean like 20. Nerf/buff not 1 card, but 1/3rd of the cards every 4 months. 2. More rewards for Rank. Give a reason for playing the game. Simple as this. Make not 400 credits at rank 40, or some stupid title at rank 100. I mean jeez.... Make it 1500 credits, with a new card collector cache. 3. Remove pool 4 and 5. That is the DUmbest move they did. Just remove it, it doesn't add to the game, it destroys it. IT will be the one reason that will eventually kill this game much sooner than needs to. 4. (this is a more challenging one) Rework the whole game. Make it 5 locations instead of 3, make it into a map, not some boring 3 location-idon'treallygiveafkaboutgameplaycauseimlazy game. 5 locations, longer games, something. Get creative rather than letspushoutthishalfpolishedgamesowemakeaquickbuck. But then. if they cared... this wouldn't be 2023. The era of greed.

What if Shuri was a 4/3 or 4/4 that gave the next card you play +2 for each energy is cost to play?

Honestly, with regards to the meta, you are right but this goes hand in hand with card acquisition. Players that have access to tokens either by being beta players or using the good ol' credit card just play Shuri/Thanos/Darkhawk/and maybe Galactus. The rest just watch from the sidelines or hope they get luck with pulls from caches. Ask any content creator and they will tell you Shuri got them to Infinite this season.

Well said. Too little nerfs and buffs im just tired of the same meta. Im level 2960 i dont own shuri or she hulk is really frustrating and somehow im rank 82.

I think what could be a decent idea is instead of 1 card a week maybe like a mass release of cards into pool 3 every two or three months

Basically they need to add more game modes to make the game more fun

3:39 no, making shuri 5 cost WOULD NOT kill the card. The combination is still possible using electro or wave!
