Some things to keep in mind when you are that far from the center of San Pedro town. It is a long and often quite bumpy ride on a golf cart to get to town . If it is late at night and your goal is to go out for a good time, it will be very dark on your return trip. I think some of the roads are improving, but they are very far from finished. I don’t know how well illuminated the road is to SB. This brings up the cost of a golf cart or quite frankly, you would be much better off with a Polaris 4 x 4. You will have to maintain these vehicles because they are vital to your existence on Ambergris Caye especially if you are out in SB.

You are very right! There are a lot of considerations. It is always advised that people come down to Belize BEFORE buying to understand what they are buying and know what to expect.

I'm not understanding why you would use a gas stove if you are adding solar. Just throw up a few more panels. And $3/KW seems a bit high. I'd bring in my own and build it for 1/4 that price, including the import costs.

I watched another video and it appears piers out to water for homeowners to have boats "may" be an issue in Belize???...Can you comment on that?

Hi Douglas, it depends where you are trying to add a pier. Is it an area where there are a lot of piers already? Piers do need to be approved before building and need to be at least 100 feet apart. It will need to go through the Central Building Authority to ensure it is meeting codes. I have seen structures that were repurposed trailers and shipping containers, but it may end up costing you a lot more to import something vs. building a fresh. Definitely a lot of exciting and new things happening in the area. I would like to see more done to address the trash situation. During our recent visit, we discovered that the business in front of our property on the main Secret Beach road has been encroaching on part of our lots and dumping trash there.

BELIZE SHOULD BE THE STAR OF HOW TO RUN A SMALL COUNTRY, UNLIKE OTHER COUNTRIES WHO LIVE IN CORRUPTION. MY GRANDFATHER WAS WELL KNOWN IN BELIZE. BACK IN THE 60'S AND HE WAS INTERVIEWED BY A BRITISH REPORTER. HE SAID' WE LIVE IN PEACE LIKE A FAMILY I'D RATHER BE UNDER BRITISH FLAG FOREVER.

I think Belize islands are way overpriced, since the islands are so underdeveloped, not that much to do and but they still charge other expensive CARRIBEAN islands’ prices. Not worth it, I don’t know why anyone would pay 💰 🤷🏻‍♀️

Belize as a country generally isn’t “cheap.” Many items are imported into the country incurring a customs and duties fee, then further barged to the cayes, and further transported to the construction site. It adds up. But people choose to live in Belize for many different reasons. It is not everyone’s cup of tea, but there are many people who enjoy the laid back lifestyle, the people, the views. For me personally it was all of the above. And my cost of living is cheaper than in the States. It may not be worth it to you to be in this type of environment, but for many, it is.

@@lunarealtybelize I understand that, people liking laid back lifestyle, but my statement still stands, it is way overpriced for what it is. Yes I get that importing fees and less “accessible” for shipping and all makes it more expensive, hence why they need to put more money into the development. But they don’t seem to! I’m not sure. Other CARRIBEAN countries are just as beautiful some way more beautiful, with stunning views, Belize islands (SAN Pedro) particularly doesn’t have enviable beaches, there is good diving there of course, but they need to put more money into beach reclamations and maintenance. Anyway, overall, there are sooo many other options to choose from when it comes to CARRIBEAN islands, if I were to spend as much money as I did in Belize I’d rather go to Sint Maarten, Barbados, Grenada, (Caribbean side of Mexico) and the list goes on. You pay the same price but you get soooo much more out of it. This is why I said I don’t understand Belize prices don’t make sense to me as a tourist. This is not to “insult” Belize, this is for their government, hopefully they put and invest more money into it and make it beautiful and more inviting for tourists if they are looking to grow tourism that is, if not then I guess it doesn’t matter.

​@@luxurytravel759 There is definitely a focus on infrastructure with this current administration, thankfully. Belize has a charm that many folks don't find in other Caribbean places, but it definitely makes sense to shop around to see where you find the best value.
