Very good explanation on how that die works. I'll keep my Redding Die for sure!

I have a feeling rcbs has VASTLY improved their competition die set. I bought mine in 2014 and have none of the issues you seem to have. I would NOT let this well done video steer you away from these dies. I have a feeling rcbs has made adjustments to better these dies. Mine function well. Look great....are NOT loose....have clear white markings.... and have NOT seen any runout. Perhaps 8 years ago these were an issue. Also I am NOT a competitive bench shooter...perhaps they are more picky than I am....lol. Great videos....keep up the interesting uploads. Best wishes.

The newer black RCBS competition dies have an O-Ring as the tensioning device on the "Micrometer" adjustment. Try changing your o-ring and checking and tightening the allen screw on top to reduce the excessive wobble you seem to have. I have older silver ones, with a click detent adjustment. There is almost no wobble.

This video is obviously a pitch for the Redding seating die which is more expensive. I have the RCBS competition seating die and it does not have the wobbly top micrometer cap. Besides the most important part of the seating die is the bullet seating plug which if properly machined at the factory would seat the bullet using the ogive and not the tip of the bullet. Competition die shooters can have a seater plug machined by RCBS for the bullet they want to use contact them for details.

Yes it is! It's the one the NRA sells. My Uncle had it professionally made out of maple and he gave it to me a few years ago. It's very loader friendly and it's holding about 500 pounds of bullets underneath. There's enough room for 4 presses but I have 2 mounted now for space.

Check out the frankford arsenal universal seating die . Looks and works like this but does every caliber below 30-06. 70 to 80 bucks. Very little run out. About 1.5 thousandths. Micrometer adjustment is tight. Also rcbs would sort that die out for free ,great company. Happy reloading.

Runout is the measure of the case's axis and bullet's axis. They should be perfectly coincedent and co-linear. Divergence leads to eccentricity.

Mine has a hex head screw on top to lock the measurement in and takes care of the travel.

Great videos. This 2 video set saved me from buying the RCBS seating die set. I needed a .308 seating die mainly to control runout and this video kept me from wasting $100.00 on the RCBS only to have to buy the Redding seating die anyway. I was mainly looking at the Forster and Redding sets but my local shop has the RCBS set in stock and I almost bought it because I have alot of RCBS stuff and all of the other stuff that I have frfom them is very good..

Just a couple of points; Define run out, use back ground lighting to show the detail close up of the collar sliding up the die to place the bullet, and focus the camera for detail.

I have the RCBS Match seating die for 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 and neither one rattles and the runout is about 1.5 thousandths. Wonder if I have a later model????

Run out is when the bullet is not concentric with your case. If you roll your cartridge on a table you may even see the bullet seem to wobble as it goes around. In flight it may or can cause havoc especially as your distance to the target increases. .001 or .002 shouldn't hurt at out to 100 yds but .003 and above at 200 yds you'll start to see your groups grow. This has been my experience anyway.

@@timandrews4722 That's a tough one to answer. I think if I were pressed I say the Forster but they both are excellent. I use the Redding mostly because I am very familiar with it and it produces the finest ammunition I've made so far.

Not measuring to ogive? Waste of time. Bullet tips vary. Only thing that matters is distance of ogive off of lands.

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!

I sure hope RCBS is not paying for this video. You constantly criticize the die for having a "runout" problem without explaining what you mean by "runout", only that it is bad. Just for reference, I am retired Army SF, Sniper Qualified. I shoot 800M targets so I need precise rounds. Runout sounds like there is variation in seating depth or overall bullet length. I check each round after bullet seating and certainly don't want to have bullets seated too far (That means I have to unseat the bullet and start over). If all this is true, this die is worthless to me. It is evident that you do not have much experience with the die. Your video looks like you are learning how to use the die as you go along. I generally expect KZread videos to go a step further than the manufacturers instruction sheet. In this case you actually didn't do any more than show what the instructions say. You need to work on this video.

Look at Johnny Ray reloading. He has a number of videos and I go to him all of the time for all kinds of tips on reloading. He also does a safty on reloading video. It is worth watching. Good luck.
